Titan or kabane armageddon? Decide while you still can as the wretched world falls into a complete pandemonium state. Another story about humanity's survival. Shingeki no Kyojin and Owari no Seraph both share some parallels. Firstly, they are produced by the same animation studio (Wit Studio) and share the same soundtrack composer, Sawano Hiroyuki. In terms of story, in both worlds, humanity is at the brink of extinction and is endangered by another species (titans - vampires). The protagonist is also a young boy who joins a squad to fight that species and to take revenge for losing a family member. In both anime, the atmosphere is a dark and serious one and the animation style is quite similar. If you are a fan of Shingeki of Kyojin, you  read more

Revenge, Suffering, Agony and Redemption... Shingeki no Kyojin has a feeling of FMA Brotherhood in which a kid who lived a peaceful life gets thrown into a dark grim life full of tragedy and agony due to losing someone important to them. However, both main characters refused to move on and dedicated their lives for revenge and redemption. If you enjoy a full packed action dramatic plot you'll love both of these series.

The remaining humans risks their entire race on a fight for survival or face extinction, the rich and powerful ruled for either the good of everyone or the greed for power. 'Black Bullet' demonstrates that good and bad are not very different depending on how you perceive it. 'Shingeki no Kyojin' has a darker history as the people have lived under fear for a longer period of time and any beings that are different from them have to be destroyed. Kill or be killed is a way to describe the ways of life of the people. Freedom of action is not permitted to the  read more

Both series are about a group of young individuals having to face a threat that may lead to extinction of the whole humanity. In Attack on Titan this threat is giants devouring humans, called titans, while in 86 humanity is under attack by robots from a faction called Legion. Apart from that, the one and the other shows are filled with good looking action sequences and are full of dramatic moments. One of themes appearing in them, even though their settings differ from each other, is the theme of "illusion of safety", with said safety being presumably granted by the fact of living behind the  read more

Pain and sorrow are felt in both series however they are not on the same caliber. Fighting for a better future, teamwork, sacrifice are all shallow similarities. 'Claymore' has a wide range of characters with dark past which you will feel sorry for whether they are friend or foe, it shows you the hardship of characters who only fight for themselves but in time come to terms with close friendship thus fight for one and another. This show starts off a little more slowly compared to Attack on Titan but as it progresses, the pace of the story starts to kick in and it really reels you in and that's how it is similar to Attack on Titan. The soundtrack is pretty similar as well - fighting scenes, lots of death and twists and turn - humanity fighting against one another - pretty similar to AoT if you ask me. Both are fast paced, interesting and keeps you on the edge of your seat!

Many have linked Attack on Titan to Evangelion since long before AoT's anime came to be, for highly spoilerific (NOT MECHA) reasons. To be slightly less vague, Eva deconstructed the feel good / manly / heroic mecha genre with a combination of depression and tragedy. And, to a lesser extent, AoT went against the flow of shounen fighting cliches/tropes enough to make it stand out in the same way. So, both series' differences from the norm makes them comparable, in essence. Unlike in its manga, near the end (ep24) AoT's anime had Eren act very much like Shinji from Eva: needing a peptalk and FULL  read more

It's safe to say Berserk anime fans were left shocked & traumatised by its haunting finale. You get that feeling on a regular basis with Shingeki as characters are torn to shreds before your eyes. Not as extreme (or as sexual!) as Berserk at its most (in)famous, no, but you get the point. Images that won't leave will remain imprinted in your brain, after viewing--ye be warned! These two anime are depressing to watch. SnK is fully depressing but HxH is like cheerful at first then becoming a psychological kind of anime at the last part. Either way, these two have bad-ass female characters.

Both shows have the profoundly important and mightily depressing subject matter of the human race's survival hundreds of years in the future. The future civilisations in each show are very different from one another, but they both face the problem of tensions and/or conflicts between species that have come to exist since our present, not to mention further issues regarding the corruption of human governments and establishments. What's also important to mention is that both shows have an element of scientific mystery; as you watch you'll find out more and more about the new creatures that inhabit the Earth through the characters' own investigations.

Both shows follow organisations that upkeep public safety from a unknown threat (Scouts & Titans + Fire Force & Infernals respectively). The author of Attack on Titan, Hajime Isayama, said the following in an interview: "My earliest inspiration was the adult game Muv-Luv Alternative, in which aliens invade and humankind is on the brink of annihilation." Total Eclipse is a spin-off of what Isayama is referring to, but the influence was blatantly obvious in episode two: a cast of characters were introduced and then brutally killed off in quick succession; one being eaten in gruesome fashion in front of a despairing friend. In bleach, when a human dies it either becomes a whole, whole, a person whole goes to the soul society, or they become a wandering spirt, which then turns into a hollow when they are preyed on by a hollow, or stay in the human world for too long. Blue Gender is the largely unknown AND under-appreciated survival gem that came LONG before the fall of Wall Maria. The grim, 'horror' tone so rarely seen in anime as characters are introduced only to be killed off without mercy (initially, in Attack on Titan) is present in both. BG has VERY little pandering, whilst AoT was influenced by shounen tropes. The most obvious similarity is the heroines of the two: Mikasa from AoT and Marlene from BG are both stoical killing machines that are shown to have softer sides via romantic feelings for the respective male leads. Darling in the FranXX is basically the same as Shingeki. In both worlds humanity is struggling for survival inside man made barriers that prevent giant monsters from destroying everything. The peaceful life of the protagonist is drastically changed when the outside world collides with his own, he then joins a military like group that frequently goes outside, makes friends and discovers more about himself and the lies of the government. Neither animes take place in Japan; Attack on Titan in Madagascar (from what I’ve researched), and Princess Principal in London. -Wall. The wall in both animes play an important role in the plot. The two series deal with how mankind deals with 'new' humans. Food shortages, struggle for survival and despair are overarching themes.
