Hello fellow MAL member! :D
Are you a movie addict? Or do you enjoy casually watching a movie together with your friends? If films, animated or live-action ones are something you like, have you ever wondered about participating in such activities where you can discuss about your favorite movies with your friends on MAL?
If the above facts catch your interest, come and joinThe Cinema Club! ;-)
The Slice of Life Club will be hosting a Cute Competition for the next seven weeks. It's pretty much going to be the same thing as our Moe Competition, except for the fact that characters from overly popular series weren't allowed in the contest (since they always win). It's time to give other cute girls a chance to shine. There are four different groups with 32 girls in each group. One girl from each group will go on as a finalist to face off against each other in two championship rounds. Our winner and finalists will get a special card edition in their honor and a spot on the club's layout.

As you can see, we have quite the long lineup of girls for our first round. Half of them will be eliminated after this round, though, so please vote to help us decide who stays and who goes!

Hm, are you aware of Disney buying out Lucasfilm? Episode 7 due in 2015...
And I have to agree as well, as much as Lucas altered bits here and there, the narrative is basically the same. Ever looked into the fanbase's take on Star Wars? As they say, fans do it best :P (not in all cases of course)
Now that is quite the difference! I do have a level of respect when a series is really coming from the director's psyche and pours it into his series...so much opportunity there to really see major character shifts.
Ah, quite the let down...but now it makes sense why there isn't an 'official' documentry surrounding this series. Love being spoiled by the process of how Lucas approached and explained how he came about his movies as well as the actors take on it too! I did see a brief interview of Shinji's English VA though, comical guy x3
BUT THANK YOU FOR THAT LINK! I enjoyed reading it, as it's close to what I want, thank you again :)
My my, even more reason to see the similarity! I suppose Anno's approach is course better to some degree, while Star Wars fans are like, "DON'T TOUCH THE ORIGINALS, LUCAS, oh and the prequels suck!", it seems fans of the Eva franchise can be described as, "Okay, these rebuilds are alright, good thing I can go back to the originals untouched"
However, I really wish I could watch an Evangelion documentary with Anno, just like how I've seen lots of George Lucas/Star Wars documentaries. Do you know anywhere on the web I could possibly view one (that is if such a thing exists). The closest thing I found was Anno visiting a group of students; rather interesting, but really would like to see an Eva documentary. I'm trying to get immersed in this franchise just as much as I did for Star Wars, as I got hooked to NGE...oh about 5 weeks ago I suppose, so relativity new to it all.
Damn that sucks...hopefully the link is redeeming~
Alright, sounds good then, I mean, as long as I got the jist, then all is fine. I know I won't be downloading a 1080p release just for better subs o.O
In a way, I think I know what you mean by "lifeless"
I may however download the 720p version if it's under 5GB, as it may be interesting to see how much of the dialogue changed.
Since you seem like quite the Star Wars geek, do you also think Anno and Lucas have their similar traits when it comes to their grand franchises?
haha, sounds kinda cool though. And you should probably try to watch an anime with him the first time around instead? But the series might suck ofcourse. :L
Wow, I will not even try to properly reply to that comment. But I did ofc read it all and I do agree in most of your statements.
Thanks, Yeah my time as a teenager is gone now, feels good. Hopefully my time to come is better. :)
Well returning to school was a plan all along. I did plan to continue studying without this break, but I was not sure of what to study yet. so I took some time off to think about stuff etc. And having this break has been awesome up to now, hopefully I won't have a hard time coming back to school.
I plan to study psychology in either our Capital Oslo or another bigger city called Trondheim. Both are quite far away from where I live now. So starting to study again away from my family and stuff will be a new experience.
Now, It is a long time since I last watched the series, as I've mentioned before. So I have forgotten some stuff. But one thing that I did see you mention was that in the second season of the series, you really look back to the happy innocent High school days of the show where everything was good and fun.
I don't know why, but during some of the ''worst'' times in the series I kept thinking about that enjoyable first season of the show and how everything got into this mess. And at the same time Tomoya was happy about that life he got, and kept going forward even with everything holding him back. this series really gives a good image of how cruel the world can be.
The ending was indeed very good, and unexpected. I was really afraid while watching the series that the ending might suck and ruin the whole experience. but instead it did the opposite.
Well I turned 20 today, so I guess that's something... Other then that, I've applied for a couple of schools I will attend to next autumn, so looking forward to the response.
But to be honest there is not much going on at the moment. :)
I'm happy that you have finished Clannad, since I really want to talk about it! :) And I know that your opinions are always interesting.
I'm happy you enjoyed it! It's been about two years since I last watched the series so I thought that I might have matured a bit since then and find some parts of the series a bit dull and cheesy. I really want to rewatch it now! :)
I myself finished the series in super speed and as I have probably said earlier this was the first non Shounen anime I've seen. So my view on Anime changed completely when I first watched this show.
haha yeah, just realized the other day that we're not friends yet, I had to do something about that!
Life has been decent, really not much going on. Many of my old friends from high school came home during christmas break so that was loads of fun. Other then that It's been okay.
