10. Masterpiece: These are the kinds of stories that have changed how I look at life in one way or another on top of being absolutely amazing all around. So far, there are only four between anime (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Clannad After Story) and manga (Oyasumi Punpun and Onani Master Kurosawa). These are my absolute favorites and they don't even begin to compare to anything else, even things rated 9/10 on my list. I cannot recommend these enough.
9. Amazing: These shows/manga (I'll just say shows but I mean manga too), are my favorites. They are amazing in most categories like having an outstanding character cast (ex. Durarara!!), a brilliant and unique story (ex. Death Note), have excellent animation (ex. the Ef series), or all of the above though not quite to the degree of being a masterpiece (ex. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica).
8. Great: This is where shows begin to show greatness. These and everything above them are very memorable to me and they are ones that really pulled me into the story/characters. They still fall short of being one of my absolute favorites due to some problems though (ex. Code Geass R2)
7. Good: This is the lowest of what I will definitely recommend to people. Everything rated 7 and above is good enough that I believe others should watch it as long as it doesn't stray from what they like completely. Many of these are very enjoyable but just had a bit too many faults to be some of the best (ex. Kill La Kill). Most of these shows are the hardest to rate for me since they have many good aspects, but can be very peculiar in many ways (ex. Neon Genesis Evangelion, Kaiba, and Soukou no Strain).
6. Decent: This is the bottom of what I consider good. Many of these are ones that I personally enjoy, but really don't think are great despite that (ex. Guilty Crown).
5. Average: Pretty equally bad and good. Many of these are generic, but not terrible done even so (ex. Little Busters). Some are very enjoyable but not all that good (ex. Ookami Kakushi), and some are pretty good but not very enjoyable (ex. Log Horizon).
4. Poor: Many of these are average, but are brought down just by how generic and plain they are (ex. Night Wizard). Others were just bizarre and enjoyable to some degree but didn't impress me very much (ex. Mekakucity Actors).
3. Bad: Were slightly enjoyable at times. A lot of these have fanservice to hide the bad stuff, but still manage to not completely fail (ex. Momo Kyun Sword). Still this is the top of what I consider just plain unlikeable, so it doesn't mean much even if I did enjoy some parts.
2. Horrible: Hardly anything enjoyable. Just generally did not have anything that stood out but were not complete and utter failures (ex. Aku no Hana [anime only]).
1. Burn it and watch the flames fly: The worst of the worst in my opinion. Huge plot holes (ex. Astarotte no Omocha), nothing enjoyable (Green Green), extremely generic (also Green Green), etc. Whatever it is, it's just terrible (ex. Green Green).
I've watched almost every anime that's on this list subbed since I can't get used to switching between languages (plus there's no chance of running into a bad English dub which might ruin an otherwise good show that way). I used to watch anime like Pokemon, Yugioh, One Piece, Naruto, and DBZ when I was younger (basically whatever Cartoon Network/Toonami or a few other channels showed), but I've only really been into anime since June 2012 when I watched my first anime, "This Ugly Yet Beautiful World." In January 2013, I also started reading manga with "Blood Lad" being my first.
