Why am I here? Probably because I need to update something. Why are you here? Bored? Interested?
Anyway, Welcome yourself, and if you're really bored you can check these out: Rating Explained: 10- The shows that changed me as a person, I just love everything about them. 9- Extremely memorable. Incredible for what it is. 8- It's very good, enjoyed my time watching it. 7- It's good, I have a minimum of complaints about it but nothing to destroy its good. 6- I have it balanced out on complaints and praises, it's okay. 5- I probably was just bored in some cases, maybe because it was detestably uncomfortable or extremely badly executed. 4- Lacks in a lot of areas that made me not care, just like the production team. 3/2- It doesn't exist. 1- ?! - I rate manga pretty similarly, but novels and visual novels differently. The scale is about the same though. - When it comes to anime, technical stuff like animation, storyboard, art direction, soundtrack, etc are a bit more important to me than the average, but with that said, I can't give an anime more than an 8 if I don't find the story and characters appealing. It also doesn't mean that every 8 I gave is like that. Furthermore, from my experiences, most animes that are great technically, are also great overall. After all, great direction, animation, and sound make great storytelling. - I rate an anime only after I finish it unless it's a long-running airing anime that has an unknown episode number. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Top Anime: 1. Dragon Ball "When a strong enemy appeared, we started to team up because we had to…" I have an emotional relationship with Dragon Ball, it's creative, it's exciting, it's colorful and it's simply fun. I love Dragon Ball. 2. The Fate Franchise "Saving someone means not saving someone else." Dynamic characters, explores great philosophies and themes, and top it off with great action. It also goes deep into a dark, psychological territory. Fighting anime that stands out from the others with its philosophical dialogues and monologues but still includes all the best aspects of that genre. This is Fate. 3. Kara no Kyoukai "The one who is killed is human, but the one who killed lacks the dignity of a human and is no longer human." This series is one of the best stories that I've experienced, dissecting philosophical, thought-provoking topics in society and the world with unique characters, genius concepts, amazing soundtrack, and beautiful visuals. The fact that this adaptation exists is a bless. 4. Berserk "People who perish in other’s battles are worms… If one can’t live their life the way they want, they might as well die." Berserk is such a powerful story, filled with ugly and beautiful experiences. The wonderful soundtrack, the incredibly likable characters, the fantastic world-building that seems like an unending creation, and the magnificent direction made all of that be the Berserk I love. 5. Clannad "We didn’t give up our dreams, we just made your dream into ours! That’s what parents are. That’s what family is!" Clannad is a beautiful story, it uses emotion inducing direction that further makes an uncommonly funny comedy, it also uses incredible animation and an outstanding soundtrack to move the viewer's emotions even further. I may never laugh so much yet cry so much on a single show. 6. Mushishi "Between dreams and reality is the vault of your soul. No one could see the “Dream World” without this path." The question of Mushishi is "what is existence and why there is life?", Mushishi goes around this question thoroughly in order to give the viewer not just entertainment, but also interest and qualities in the meaning of life. With one of my favorite concepts ever, Mushishi is on this place. 7. Rurouni Kenshin “Once you have power, sometimes you are put into a situation which makes you carry extra burdens, and live all your life with pain.” There are only a few shows that can make my jaw drop from both the emotional impact and the exciting action. This show is one of them. Great character development, battle narratives, and direction are a big part of my love for the franchise. 8. Neon Genesis Evangelion “Humans cannot create from nothingness. Humans cannot accomplish anything without holding on to something. Humans are not gods.” Experimental and uniquely executed, Evangelion broke through barriers of direction and themes to present a perfectly portrayed dementia, psychological themes. I found Evangelion's psychological themes and thoughts surrounding the characters very relatable which led me to my admiration for the show. 9. Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica "Kindness sometimes leads to even greater tragedy.” Taking a flat genre and making it into one of the most interesting premises that I've seen with the exceptional writing of characters struggles and tragedies. Gen'ichirou Abe's remarkable transformation scenes, Shinbou Akiyuki's phenomenal storyboarding (the best I have seen in TV anime), Kajiura Yuki's marvelous soundtrack and Nozomu Abe's stellar animation. All of that with Urobuchi's excellent writing created this amazing show. Incredible team effort. 10. Stranger: Mukou Hadan "I feel like having the pain is what makes you feel alive." This movie can leave anyone speechless. There are scenes in it that are shocking, exciting and simply amazing... With solid characters, a good plot, and one of the best action sequences I've ever seen, this film has made it here. Oh and Nakamura Yutaka. You're that bored huh? Don't worry I got you: 11. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood "In order for something to be obtained, something of equal value must be lost." No doubt this is one of the best-written "shounen" stories of all time. Filled with meaningful life lessons, action, and unrivaled plot. 12. Monogatari Series "Most people are eager to correct mistakes more than doing the right thing." One of the best dialogue intensives shows out there, making even the least interesting things the most interesting with the help of unique animation and amazing characteristics. Even the action scenes are absolutely stunning to watch. The Monogatari series is one of a kind. 13. Rainbow: Nisha Rokubu no Shichinin "Bruises and fractures heal with time, but the wounds in people's hearts do not heal as easily." There is always a show that made you feel for characters, if it means to cry or to just want them to get over the obstacle, Rainbow is that show, one that can't leave you without feel grief for the characters and their struggles. 14. Steins;Gate "The universe has a beginning, but no end. — Infinity. Stars, too, have their own beginnings, but their own power results in their destruction. — Finite. It is those who possess wisdom who are the greatest fools. History has shown us this. You could say that this is the final warning from God to those who resist." Don't get mistaken by the slow start, because just after a few episodes you will find yourself sitting in your chair developing time conspiracies. El Psy Kongroo. 15. Suzumiya Haruhi Series "Dreams start by believing." A slice of life series that stands out from the others with its mystery, wacky comedy and supernatural elements. ...Well that's great and all the reason it's all the way up here is because of the plot-twisting, emotional roller-coaster movie. I felt nothing but unending flow of emotions in the 2 hrs 42 min long movie. (Also, Endless eight is good) 16. Mob Psycho 100 "The truth behind one's charm is kindness. Become a good person. That is all." The creativity in this work of animation is not something that can be seen in every anime and that's why it made Mob Psycho 100 such a special show to me. The involvement of funny characteristics and comedy only made it better. 17. Ghost in the Shell "All things change in a dynamic environment. Your effort to remain what you are is what limits you." The movie is one of the best sci-fi that I experienced, and the franchise, in general, is incredible. With wonderful storyboarding, characters, philosophical in tone plot, I can undoubtedly say the franchise is a classic. 18. Cowboy Bebop "I'm not going there to die. I'm going to find out if I'm really alive." Cowboy Bebop is a spectacular show with fantastic action and character development that is mixed in perfectly with humor. It leaps and bounds ahead of every other TV anime and sets an obscure bar to the new generation it follows by. 19. Hyouka "If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I have to do it, I'll make it quick." I still remember the time I watched this great show. It's great because of the really fun main characters, fluid animation and the sense of mystery with the memorable moments. One of the best slice of life out there for sure. 20. Angel Beats! “Please let me believe in everything you believed in. Let me believe that life is great.” Impactful Tragedies, Funny Comedy, Interesting Personalities, Great Visuals, Drama and Emotion. Angel Beats! has it all. You can click on the GIF if you want to check the anime. Everything on the list can change with time, the more I discover of course. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Visual Novels List: ~~~~~Fate/Stay Night~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Fate/Extra~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Subarashiki Hibi~~~~~ **************** ~~~~~~Completed 10/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 7/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 10/10~~~~~~ ~~~~Fate/Hollow Ataraxia~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Saya no Uta~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Mahoutsukai no Yoru~~~~~ **************** ~~~~Completed 9.5/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 8/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 9.5/10~~~~~ ~~Guilty Crown Lost Christmas~~~~~~~~~~~~G-senjou no Maou~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Sakura no Uta~~~~~~~ **************** ~~~~~Completed 7/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 8.5/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 10/10~~~~~~ ~~~~Hatsuyuki Sakura~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Eden*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hanachirasu~~~~~~~ **************** ~~~~~Completed 8/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 8/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 6/10~~~~~ ~~~~~~~Narcissu~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Narcissu Side 2nd~~~~~~~~~~~~Narcissu: Himeko's Epilogue~~~ **************** ~~~~Completed 8/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 7.5/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 7/10~~~~ ~~~~~~~Narcissu 3rd~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Narcissu 0~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Narcissu Sumire~~~~~~ **************** ~~~~~~Completed 7.5/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 7.5/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 7.5/10~~~~~ ~~~Fata morgana no Yakata~~~~~~Fata morgana no Yakata Another Episodes~~~~~~~~~Planetarian~~~~~~ **************** ~~~~~~Completed 9/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 9/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Completed 8/10~~~~~ ~~~Higurashi no Naku Koro ni~~~~~~~~Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Loopers~~~~~~~ **************** ~~~~~~Reading -/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Planning -/10~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Planning -/10~~~~~~~~ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Favorite Characters Anime: ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Favorite Characters V/LN/Manga: Not in particular order. One of my problems with Fumetsu is that I'm not feeling the emotions that it wants me to feel after March's arc. The story is predictable and feels artificial because of the formula and the way it's written, I know which characters are going to be killed off and I know that their deaths will be presented in sad way to make me feel something.
That's just my experience though.
How are you doing?
I'm doing alright myself, not much going on.
This season is pretty lame tbh. Vanitas no Karte is fairly generic and my dislike of shounen tropes gives me mixed feelings about it, and I've only watched 1 ep of Sonny Boy so I'm not sure how that's gonna turn out.
What do you think of Fumetsu? It was decent for me during the first ep and March's arc, but after that the formula of the show became obvious and it got mediocre.
I'm looking forward to the Tonikawa OVA on Aug 18, and World Trigger S3 next season. Fall season looks more promising than Summer, although if it does turn out badly then World Trigger alone can carry it for me, lol.
I'm not sure how to use spoiler bars, so let me explain why I like Archer as a character vaguely,
- I like Archer because he and Shiro have a great dynamic with each other
- His plot twist on his identity is amazing, his identity on who he was when he was alive is also what makes him amazing.
- Archer is practically a shonen protagonist who achieved his goal but now regrets his tragedy, which makes Archer and Shirou deconstructions of the shonen trope, even though FSN itself isn't a shonen, it still deconstructs it.
- Archer has an interesting view on himself and the world
- Seeing frustrations for him is quite rare, so when he gets frustrated with Shirou, its rare, but it was enjoyable.
Sorry for my late replies, It seems you catch me at bad times haha XD
That's just muscle man, He is to Gar to be on a 2D plane, Takeuchi couldn't handle his Gar-ness
I’m looking forward to it as well. Sacchin needs a route
And yeah i agree there a lot of depressive themes that run through it which are really impactful like you said. Some stuff really does hit home for me too especially when Shinji feels this burden to try and please other at his expense. Theres a heap amount of stuff in
it too. Can't wait to read to read the analysis of this series once i finished.
Oh sweet, i will defo check out a visual novel, and i will ask you for some recommendations when i do!
I'm on epsidoe 13 so far and its been fairly good. The art and visuals are top tier in this. Nothing has wowed me just yet accept for a few scenes in the earlier episodes (I think following AOT has put my execpetations up really high haha, hopefully that'll wear off in the future). However since ep12 its really shifted and can really see the philosophical element to starting to come into it, so cant wait for it! - I think I'll end up rewatching it at some point it seems like one of those animes.
Okay i see thats interesting, learning japanese seems cool. I might look into some visual novels too, now that you mention it. Yeah i still probably prefer anime more too, i just have a few mangas i have down that seemed to be really sick :)
Yeah man it was really emotional, AOT has been a proper emotional roller coaster for me. I've been really invested in the charcaters too which has helped amplify that too. There personalities are really dynamic and feels really relatable at times. I
think having started it 3-4 years ago, the character development feels even more unique as you as a person have also developed from the first time you've watched it, if that makes sense lol.
I hope my plan to watch list also has really good animes that can get me as invested in it as i have with AOT.
Yeah i've never really read manga at all tbh ! I remember reading a bit at when i was kid lol, but this is my first proper manga. I'm just given it a try and see if i enjoy it. Its been decent so far but i can defo see where your coming from that its completely different to anime. I've seen you read some manga on your profile, was this when you use to enjoy reading it?
