I'm a professional animator that watches anime. Started as a hobby to help study but now I animate just as much as I watch anime.
This may be biased, but imo people that watch as much anime as me that don't have a mean score of like 7 or above are kinda wasting their time. Why even bother with shows when you know you could be watching a better version of everything that show has to offer. If you've seen hundreds of shows already, it can't be that hard to know how to find a better anime. Granted, sometimes it's worth it to give some a shot, but I just can't understand the mindset of people who put time into this stuff if they don't enjoy it. Sometimes I think it might be cause they don't have experience working in a production so they're more critical, but fr I just don't even have the attention span for most anime. There's a ton of good shit out there hidden under piles of trash, so a lot of times I just prefer to keep looking.
That being said, usually my 10/10s and 1/10s are ironic. If I truly regret watching something it would be 5 or below.
