Shingeki no Kyojin and Elfen Lied is kinda similiar in my opinion.
It's about 'creature' which a big threat to human kind.
It have the same gore (Elfen Lied is more gore though), the same tear-jerking, heart-touching story about mankind and the 'creature'. It's very worth to watch :)
both animes talk about the humanity fighting the *monsters* in elfen lied are those super humans .,., and in shingeki are the titans., both animes are very bloodthirsty and have some kind of drama that is represented about family in shingeki no kyokin ., and about love in elfen lied ,., and eren of shingeki no kyojin have this special power such as lucy of elfen lied

Gore is the commonality. Attack on Titan is like if you took Elfen Lied, and introduced a plot and characters that are actually interesting. Fans of intense action sequences and gore will appreciate both of these Anime. Attack on Titan throws in a good plot as a bonus. Elfen Lied does not.
Dreadful reality. Elfen Lied and Attack on Titan both follow individuals who have to live the hard way with life gives to them, even if they never asked for it. All the more having one simple desire to strive for in the harsh nature of the world.
With Elfen Lied being about Lucy and her upbringing, along with her split mind, with Kouta, as she is hunted down for who she is. AOT being more drastic with humanity being slain by titans, with Eren only wanting to have his freedom back.
Both are good anime showing how hate within people can forever, whether it be by escaping
