I've only watched the sub. Your experience sounds ideal for this sort of show. I definitely feel like I'd have more to enjoy if I'd grown up with it too. Haven't even gotten around to my own nostalgic childhood anime I've seen that way originally. Kind of daunting when something like Pokémon is somewhere around fifteen seasons and twenty movies worth of anime as is. Definitely have been eyeing Yu-Gi-Oh recently with similar interest.

Any other series in this vein you'd recommend?

Honestly, it's not out of the question for me to come back to it, but there just wasn't a whole lot pulling me into the show. The premise is great, and the soundtrack/sound design has its nicer moments, but it just lacked the further intrigue I expected. That, and the overall quality of the animation and writing both are just so-so.

In particular, I really feel Spider Riders didn't quite earn the showiness or "hype" for its more tokusatsu inspired plot beats and sequences. It kind of just made me want to watch something like Kamen Rider instead. I'm starting to think it's more of a tone thing? It just didn't quite span the gamut the way I thought it might or should've with the material.

That being said, I've only watched four episodes, and I just came back to it to make sure I'd drop it for the time being. There's probably something in there to enjoy if you and I are still talking about it now.

Sweet! If you ever do get around to checking it out, feel free to let me know what you think (good or bad).

No worries! It's a great question so random messages are okay lol the mecha in my forum pfp is from RahXephon. If you like Evangelion, there's a good chance that you would enjoy RahXephon. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Yes that's totally true I went to the North of England in the summer to visit family and everything was so much cheaper than London like food, housing etc, but it is to expected. The wages are much higher in London though and some of the smaller towns just on the outskirts of London you can properties for much cheaper. We live on the outskirts than commute in for work.
zoeanime13 Nov 21, 3:19 PM
I think to them that will be expensive and also all country prices have increased since COVID times so it makes sense when people mention cost increases cos it is crazy expensive to live now and on top of that we pay nursery fees can't wait until my son is old enough to get free education 😂

My little boy is 2. So will probably wait until 5-6 before taking him also don't really want to do the long haul flight while he is so young.

Yep eating out is expensive in London we tend to only do that and takeaways for special occasions. When I watch them eating in anime I always feel so jealous of all the food it always looks so good.

sometime.. you need to visit your childhood animes.. this is one of them.. back on the days of TVs.. now the new generation wont understand it =P

zoeanime13 Nov 15, 10:45 PM
Ohh that's incredible. Hope you get it all sorted soon. I will probably wait until my little boy is old enough to have the memories and then will go to Japan.

Thank you my birthday was really lovely I went out to eat in the afternoon and then in the evening we done cake.

actually the first Saint Seiya that i watched was the movie sequel called Tenkai Hen, back then its plot confused even fans of the old series, for the most part i thought the movie was just fine, it was unexpected that a shonen movie didnt had much fighting but i was impressed that the author had the guts to makes its characters loose against the Gods in the end
after that i watched the prequel OVAS Saint Seiya Lost Canvas an then inmediatelly had to read the manga after an became my fav, it was only after that i decided to check most of the others spin offs but i havent watched them all, too many an Toei Animation doest put much effort on anything that isnt called Dragon Ball or One Piece

Ohh that's so cool. I hope the student visa goes well for you. How long will you be able to stay in Japan for with a student visa is it just one year?
I will definitely visit Japan someday it is on my bucket list of things to do before I die.
