The music is a big influence for both anime. Hip-hop and jazz. Same director, but completely different settings. Even so, they match up very well. You can't watch one without the other.

Both these animes have great music, lovable main characters that are infailable gunmen. Both of these animes have some of the best gun martial arts, and gun fights in Anime.

Both of them are themed around Jazz and Blues. Both animes display alot of martial arts and gunplay. Definetily check out Baccano! if you loves Cowboy Bebop!

they both have the same coool feeling and both have a jazzy starting. Only one is a criminal escaped from prison and the other a Bounty hunter.

It shares a lot of the same themes and the main characters are somewhat similar. Both are unable to forget their past and move forward. The most obvious is the the style and the music as well.

You can beat me up, but they're really almost the same. Firstly it's the plot structure - combination of serious and comedy episodes is the main feature for both, different length (26 eps vs >150 eps) doesn't stop them from showing some bizarre and random unconnected stories for one or few episodes length with some great story line behind the scene. Secondly it's the characters, Gintoki resembles Spike in all respects, they're both easygoing attractive guys with some dark past and fellows that was their friends but now they're enemies; you can beat me up one more time, but I think Kagura was created under  read more

Both Protagonists are kinda labeled as the anti-heroes and both have a dark past which both have antagonists that can be compared to with Vicious and Makishima. Set in a futuristic world with a Noir atmosphere, its a must see!

The Overall vibe is pretty similar. Both shows have that futuristic junk feel to them, plus The Mc personalities are quite similar.

The entire time watching Great Pretender, it reminded me of Cowboy Bebop. Similar vibes (except the melancholy romance in CB was not present) where people with different personalities & background teaming up to do bad things. The opening songs are also similar.

Futuristic animes that have characters who are Kick Ass! The main characters in both animes, the Major for GITS and Spike for Bebop, both have strong convictions and an unknown past that fuels their character's values.

Cowboy Bebop has more fantasy to it then Lupin III has, but both deal with the same kind of characters on episodic (mis-)adventures throughout the series. Both are action-packed and have a small cast of characters.

While they have very different plots and characters, they have a strangely similar feel. Both have strong western influences, an episodic sequence to most of the season until the end resolves the plot with a very serious tone. Most episodes have a similar format, with seemingly easy or innocuous assignments/bounties/activities of the characters turning into crazy chases through the city by the end. Both anime also require a bit of reading between the lines to understand what the episodes are really about, and many have a philosophical note to them. The music is also very similar, with jazzy beats throughout both. If you like one,  read more

Both names that come up when people mention must-see anime classics. Compelling post-apocalyptic sci-fi settings that blend episodic plots with brilliant character development. In the whole, they form a story about human connection and the importance of embracing the world that you live in.

Both are serious, mysterious, mature, intriguing, and well written. Shinichiro Watanabe did the storyboard for them both.

As a hard sci-fi anime, Cyberpunk is actually a more edgy and darker version of Cowboy Bebop. Both shows are inspired by and reimagined Western sci-fi classics to show just how insidious and dangerous a world of ever-changing technology can be for humanity. Expect from both anime a fight of a truly good MC with a constant risk of drowning in cynicism and lack of integrity, criticism of the corporate mentality, as well as a good combination of action and light SoL elements.

One of the possible influences for Cannon Busters is Cowboy Bebop, yet the two head in very different directions regarding combing the influence of the wild west historical era with sci-fi. Both are dark and gritty with quirky humor as well.

The stoty is really different, but the feeling is colse, exspecially the ending gives the same moral. The the song writer is the same, and it gives the sipirt to the show.

Cowboy Bebop earns its reputation for its combination of fighting and original character matchings, as does Code Geass. If you liked Spike, Zero takes it to a much larger scale when Spike's close range combat is bought into the scale of international war.
report Recommended by tommoyang
It's futuristic in nature and has the same "overcast", melancholly tone to it. The characters are increadibly similar to eachother; Spike Spiegel and Roger Smith (both voiced by Stephen Blum in English) are both cool and collected characters with beloved allies that annoy them to no end. Faye Valentine and Angel (both voiced by Wendee Lee in English) are both selfish women looking to restore their lost memories and who become unwillingly in love with the main character. Both fantastic.

They have -go with the flow- underdog characters. Episodic sctructure uses the routine of dealing with people's problems around as the main story progresses. Both puts importance in scientific and engineering accuracy and realistic future depiction. Their animation fluidity goes up a notch in action heavy scenes.

both are stories about a pair of bounty hunters, and they're daily lives, and they're adventures; including dealing with the past of one of the main protagonist involving an old psychotic partner and an organization they left because of a woman, that is out to get them. Along the way, the main protagonist meets a partner, who was a police detectives and now they hunt bounties together, trying to be free, while dealing with the fact they are dirt poor, and starving most of the time.

Gun Sword has a VERY similar feel to Cowboy Bebop and the characters design and animation are also very alike, particularly Van/Spike and Carmen99/Faye. Both are fabulous space westerns that you should watch.

SOULFUL narrative from the industry's best, the legendary duo, director Watanabe Shinichiro and music composer Yoko Kanno

It felt like a story from Cowboy Bebop. They share the same melancholic atmosphere and the cold, lonely space setting echoing only with the sound of music by Yoko Kanno.

The strength of these shows lies in the charming and cool characteristics that the protagonist exudes. Spike from Cowboy Bebop is exhibits the chill and relaxed type of cool, while Lelouch from Code Geass shows more charisma and passion in his goals. Also, both shows have fights in different mode, such as gun fights, mecha fights (in CB, it's space ship), and clash of ideals. Both anime are praised for its epic ending, even from haters. Did I mention that both are made by Sunrise?

The anime themselves aren't really alike at all, however if you liked the main character of one, you'll like the other. They're both funny and great in a fight, and overall feel almost like the same character.

While the themes and the mood differ, the cyber punk setting is definitely prominent in both.

Badass, lone-wolf MCs in a space setting. Both shows are mostly episodic (though Cobra has some longer arcs) and the OSTs are jazzy and great. Cobra is a bit goofier and definitely more OTT at most times, but overall they have a very similar setup and feeling.

Gunsmith Cats and Cowboy Bebop both have a similar western style and loads of good action. They have a very jazzy intro song done in a 1970's split screen style. Both have good writing with good characters and humor.

Can trauma truly be healed? Are there wounds that time cannot cure? Ultimately, Cowboy Bebop and Banana Fish reach the exact same sad conclusion. While surface wise choice of the setting and story are different, on a deeper level both anime deal with the similar topic of trauma. Main character of Cowboy Bebop, Spike, and Ash of Banana Fish are traumatized, and each one has to constantly carry the weight of his past. These are two excellent anime, but no matter how fun it starts in the beginning, - do not kid yourself, - you WILL cry.

Gives you a real similar vibe, episodic & smooth adventure; for one in Italia, and the other in great Space.

Jorumungand and Cowboy bebop each share a unique style of story line where there really is no dominating over-arching plot. Each episode is self-contained yet part of the whole. Even when it comes to background characters, each one goes into depth about their back stories so you understand why they act the way they act. Not to mention each of these anime have a healthy dose of action.

Character driven series that are full of interesting characters and mystery. With their fare share of fights. The main cast in both series hold mysterious pasts that led them to be together and are key elements of the plot. There is a chill and mello vibe that is felt in the portrayal of both series and they both have awesome music that really adds to the viewing experience.

Same director, similar formula to the episodes, almost identical setting with a main difference being the tone of the shows. In my opinion Space Dandy takes itself a lot less seriously than Bebop. The humour and spontaneity are some of both of the shows greatest strengths. Both have lovable characters and interesting plot lines.
report Recommended by JVskunkape
Both are mostly episodic with a subplot forming very passively through the series. But the reason you will like both is that they have the same type of viewing experience. The nice soundtrack in Cowboy Bebop and the beautiful artwork in Mushishi really make for a lovely viewing experience. There is also the same serene mood in both series (although both can be quite exciting at times).

This anime is freaking tribute for Cowboy Bebop. Protagonist looks like Spike and has really similar nature. Except that you''ll see in this anime a lot of details which are connected to Cowboy. If you are not sure, just check the ending :D

Both series are influenced to a certain extent by music, specifically types of jazz. Bebop in Cowboy Bebop and Ragtime in Coyote Ragtime Show; so they share the same kind of musical vibe. Both series have a very sci-fi western feel and both are set in an alternate reality where space travel is both possible and used by the every day man. The characters in both series are also fairly similar; the main gang in Cowboy Bebop are bounty hunters and the main gang in Coyote Ragtime Show are treasure hunters (quite like pirates). Both have a retro style look and both have stories that begins and ends in the same episode. Protagonists are alike, Ryo Saeba and Spike Spiegel are cool, a little lazy, little comic and use a gun as main weapon. Also, Ryo Saeba are more comic and perverted.

I don't know why, but amazing visuals, fast-paced action, gorgeous sound, attention to detail. Well basically they don't make them like they used too. Other than that, not too similar at all.

MC in Dimension W is obviously inspired by Spike from Cowboy Bebop. It includes character design, choreography and initial settings such as job, friends, with whom he's not very close, troubled past with a woman. Character development takes different routes though. If you like lovable/pitiful idiots with superhuman fighting abilities, these two series are exquisite examples. Differences: art style; music (Dimension W sux, Cowboy Bebop has one of the best soundtracks in all animation); character development patterns; humor patterns; general feeling, you're left with after watching

What's special about Cowboy Bebop and Saraiya Goyou are its characters and how their complicated relationships are explored. In both series, the main casts are strangers with muddied backgrounds who find each other and form a team. There's a sense of loneliness among them. Their relationships with each other also feel odd. Sometimes they act like friends, other times like family. Yet, it'd be more proper to describe their bonds as camaraderie. What makes these stories' characters so interesting though are their mysterious pasts. Both Cowboy Bebop and Saraiya Goyou go on to uncover who their characters are. One is considered an All time Great while the other may be an anime that has received mixed reviews. They both have a very strong plot with large voids that create questions and character to the animation. Trinity Blood doesn't quite have as strong of character development or character magnetism, but still have great development mechanism, and leaves plenty to the imagination. Overall plot is different, one is an outlaw/bounty hunter model, where the other is "government agent" style approach. Both leave you wanting more.

Both are sci fis. The tone of their story is similar, even though Blue Gender is more mature than Cowboy Bebop in some aspects and somewhat grimier, darker.

Main Protagonist are strikingly similar due to their resemblance and the story is dark and light at the same time. Drama is involved not only the main characters but others as well.

Both take place in a cyberpunk setting and spend most of its run telling episodic stories about characters that ultimately tie in to a central plotline later on.

Though Ed is a human who recently left earth and NieA is an alien living in a small town they are very similar characters. They have a similar character design and move in the same loose not as realistic manner. They both kinda just do what they want to and think is fun; in contrast to a more serious grounded cast. Both Ed and NieA insert themselves into the lives of their other castmates. NieA just by deciding to live in Mayu's closet and Ed by tricking then blackmailing the crew of the Bebop.

If you like story, action and heisting, I would recommend Cowboy Bebop. In my opinion, Cowboy Bebop is very similar to Akudama drive due to the sole reason that they both have similar style of story line, it is not necessarily linear, but close.

This is another episodic anime where each episdoes can be pretty much watched individually, so if thats what you liked about Bebop then you may like this show too.

Even though Spy x Family have less of a cultural influence and take a more slice of life aproach compared to Cowboy Bebop, both are about characters you grow to love over the course of the series, characters with their own personal issues brought together by the circunstances and who forge strong bonds with each other while living their everyday lives together. If you like that aspect in one of the series, there is a chance that you may like the other too.

Format is 2 seasons of episodic police/detective drama. Bungou has a similiar, but slightly brighter noir detective aesthetic. Similiar comedic elements interject the main story. Excellent character development (especially Season 2 Opening Arc). This series covers themes such as redemption and regret. Well executed fight scenes and a good pacing between backstory and progressing an overall narrative (in this way Bungou Stray Dogs might be better).

The feelings of both shows are similar since as the story processes, more characters are taken out making it more lonely. For the most part, it reflects on their point of views and their backgrounds. Both have great action, soundtrack, animation, and development. Also similar conclusions as well. I found some character similarities, Kiritsugu=Spike, Kirei=Vicious, Rider=Jet and Kiritsugu's band has the same amount that Spike has. Trust me it's linear since each episodes focuses on the story then they show backstories and pasts, etc.

Protagonists that will do whatever it takes to quench their thirst for what they want most (for Spike, revenge. for Joe, the fire of the ring), even if it could mean the end of them. Also has tons of characters with complicated relationships who aren't honest about themselves. Both are two of the best things ever made.

Onihei and Cowboy Bebop do not fit conventions of a serial (episodic show). Essentially, they both discard the format for normal plots. The score is also very good for both. Onihei has a jazzy score, similar to what you'd expect from Shinichiro Watanabe, or other Western influenced directors. Although they are sequential in timeframe, they seem to drift. The reason why they both seem this way is because a plot is secondary to the tone. Each episode is a pseudo-standalone, with its own premise. This elicits a mood of relaxation, and it's ultimately very refreshing. Also, doing  read more

In both series, the main characters take on dangerous jobs/missions as a bounty hunter or "Getbacker" in hopes that their hard work would finally free them from their poverty and grumblings about having no money. Despite being very successful at what they do and completing their jobs, money still manages to elude them and onto the next job they go.

It is a really great time with great animation and an even better score. The dubbed version is spot on with the casting just like Bebop. The bounty hunter aspect is utilized in a fun and fresh way, it is definitely more upbeat. Very similar in terms of the character roles of the main four, as well as the 'mercenaries for hire, on a spaceship' premise. The lead, Joe, is a little like Spike; him being a quiet, charismatic, and somewhat cool young guy. His love interest, and the second crew member, Alfin, is like Faye in the sense that she's the noisiest character, as well as the only one with sex appeal. While they may not seem very similiar on the surface, both Eureka Seven and Cowboy Bebop share a common love of 'western' pop culture. Everyone from John Coltrane to the Beastie Boys is either name-dropped or referenced in both series, while character's designs referernce famous characters from English-language film. Gritty, thrilling, fantastic anime for grown-ups with overall the same style. The characters and their relationships are similar to the extreme: the male protagonist (Spike/Saiga) is an apathetic and unemotional man with a special eye who needs to be in near-death situations in order to feel alive, and who's not interested in the sexy, dangerous gunslinger girl crushing on him (Faye/Ginza), but only cares about the woman he loves (Julia/Kagura). This is a weird comparison to make, since the stories of these two anime are quite different. Cowboy Bebop is about existential loneliness and being a cowboy, while Carole & Tuesday is about the power of human connection and being a musician. Still, Carole & Tuesday was clearly heavily influenced by Cowboy Bebop. Both anime have a strong sense of place, a miniseries format with a clear ending in sight, and slower pacing, making them overall feel more artistic. Both are episodic sci-fi shows about nostalgic main characters tormented by their past. Cowbow Bebop references Mospeada a lot, like in the way its episodes are titled, or with characters like Ed (acting as the heart of the group, just like Mint) or his father Appledelhi (who's basically muscle-Ray, a happy person because he never thinks of his past), and maybe even Gren (Yellow Belmont?).

Both series being a unique experience, there isn't much that links these two shows. While BP is an eerie sci-fi sepia journey through adolescence, CB is a more old-fashioned story about coming to terms with one's self. 91 Days isn't set in space, and Angelo's not exactly a bounty hunter, but Angelo and Spike share a similar suave charm. Both know their way around a gunfight and a fistfight. And each of them has waited years to settle some scores. There's a lot of bloodshed and clever dialogue in both, and the music, while not quite as good as Cowboy Bebop (but how could it be?) is still pretty good. 91 Days isn't nearly as well-animated as Cowboy Bebop either, but both have a realistic style likely to appeal to Western audiences.

Cowboy Bebop has bounty hunters and Shigofumi has postal deliverers sending shigofumi letters. Though Cowboy Bebop is a great classic sci-fi adventure, Shigofumi is more dramatic and psychological.

Hunters. Cowboy Bebop and Kite both follow this futuristic technology with hunters of some sort assigned with capturing or killing targets. Bebop follows bounty hunters Spike and Jet and their missions on who to get next. Kite is the same but it follows a girl named Sawa who is an assassin instead. Both are good action anime with the same kind of jazz music in them too. Kite having H scenes though.

Yusaku and Spike are criminals with wanted bounty on their heads who suffer from a dark and traumatic past deal with powerful enemies and gather allies from time to time with a talent powerful enough to achieve this many victories along their journey. The themes of both show deals with not forgetting the past, revenge, crime, etc that makes them more adult oriented mature enough for viewers to see.

Cowboy Bebop its like the oldest version of Bungou Stray dogs, because those have a problem with mafia organization, one problem per episode and there's a character became a mafia in the past (english s*ck)

Chasing made fun. Very different plots, but, Cowboy Bebop and The World God Only Knows both follow people who essentially chase down for others for some benefit. Cowboy Bebop follows bounty hunters, but the theme is set in space, in the future. TWGOK has Keima capture real-life girls as if it were a dating sim after he made a contract saying he would. Both are good comedic anime with Cowboy Bebop being an action-adventure sci-fi, while TWGOK is a romance harem.

Although one is a lot more serious than the other, both follow MCs adventure until the very end with the score they have to settle. An episodic style is Bebop's go-to route, whilst Inferno Cop's way is to do everything but the aforementioned beginning plan. They are fun journeys that shouldn't be disheartening even if they don't give what they should right away. Both are great shows with Bebop being for a mature fanbase, Inferno Cop being for something people want to laugh out of.

Classy. A classic and a reminisce of one, the two anime are vastly different for sure. I probably don't need to go over why, however one thing is certain, and that is the nature of these two anime. Entangled by the same behaviour of wavered ways but also sophisticated design, is a piece of media, gone around in different ways (TV and Music), that make you feel as if you have the past and the future at the same time. Really good stuff.

The west. Although MHA and Bebop are two completely different shows. The two anime are heavily inspired by western culture going as far as to even directly reference and use icons from. MHA does this with heroes, and comic styled theme. Bebop does this with Cowboys and culture from an older time. Both are good series with one being for a younger audience, MHA, than the more mature Bebop.

Wondering. Cowboy Bebop and Noragami both follow protagonists with deep backstories ending up almost stranded with nothing better to do than performing tasks given to them as a job. As time progresses in each story, different people from different backgrounds join together to create a primary group, though the intentions of the various characters vary from one another despite being in the same group. Whilst both are great action anime, Cowboy Bebop brings forth space and sci-fi, Noragami giving supernatural entities and deities.

Both are sci-fi with lots of strategy, battleships and philosophy.

Sunrise is a magician when it comes to delivering conclusions that shakes your mind at it's finest days. Though Bebop is said to be better, CCA brings a closure to Amuro and Char's saga and is said to be the best Gundam movie beyond it's decade. I can smell some kind of a Spike vs Vicious between the two. Regardless both are tragic in some ways that make it compelling to watch.

Both of these animes have those nostalgic vibes of the past that give the stories their "romantic"/ wistful feel to them. Dang, that sounded like a long shot, but I'm not far off. In any case, both of them produced similar feelings for the viewer: me.

"Sweet Friday" / "Yasashii Kinyoubi" and "Cowboy Bebop" may be very different conceptually, but they both incorporate many interesting Western popular culture influences within their art and design.

“Cowboy Bebop” and “Seihou Tenshi Angel Links” are science fiction action series surrounding an odd crew operating a space ship that adventures to random places in the galaxy. On these adventures, the cast of characters get into shenanigans that lead them into awkward situations and, of course, trouble. These two shows both start off relatively lighthearted and comedic in nature, but become more serious and darker in tone as they progress towards their conclusions. Furthermore, these two anime dance around the subject of romance regarding the main characters but it is never the direct focus of the show.

Residing in the space opera & sci-fi genres; both have strong roots in, or style inspired by US-American pop culture. In parts, the Star Wars franchise uses the same wild-west influece Cowboy Bebop picked up decades later. While Visions is a pure anthology, CB includes anthology-like storytelling from episode to episode. Considering these factors (and surely a lot more that escape me right now) you might discover a large overlap in atmospheres and environment. Obviously, the two are both quite popular / mainstream.

Both take place far in the future where earth is a wasteland of its former glory, both have advanced technology, and both take place in space.

Character development. The story in both is minimal yet strong, but Haruhi is a fantasy-comedy while Bebop is a sci-fi-dramedy. Dose of interesting events.

There both set in a future after a great disaster happen, mechs or spaceships, both stories surronding misfits that find a purpose in alliegal or shady bussiness and great music.

Cool protagonists, fiction-based adventurous drama. Nice actions & a good sense of humor from time to time.

Both are mostly episodic stories, centered around the main theme of how our past influences who we are. In Bebop, it's mostly past in general, whereas in Frieren, it's specifically about people one meets and bids farewell to throughout one's life.

Same sci-fi effects and close fighting. Not similar artwork, but Cowboy Bebop always reminded me of Figure 17 or vice versa everytime I watched both of them. Except Cowboy Bebop takes place in outer space while Figure 17 mainly took place on Earth with aliens invading their homes. They both have something that teaches you something enthusing, and similar feel. Also, unique episodes, titles, and rare storylines.

Both Devil May Cry & Cowboy Bebop have characters that are very similar. The heros of the stories, Dante - Spike. The older level headed gentleman, Morrison - Jet. The tough-as-nail female character Lady - Faye. And the precocious little girl Patty - Edward. And just like Cowboy Bebop where the characters of Spike & Faye are sometimes partners and sometimes they are also in competition against each other. The same is true with the characters of Dante & Lady

A grand story filled with madness, memorable characters, humor and story arcs many anime have copied. If you're looking for a little escapism give this one a shot. The dubbed version is pretty good too.

Let me be clear, in terms of story, characters, tone, and morals, these two have practically nothing in common. The reason i still make this recommendation is because both are anime that revolve around music. In Cowboy Bebop, the OST is incredible and highly composed of jazz, the names of the episodes are references to actual songs and artists, and the characters themselves are like jazz, by which i mean that they're cool, unpredictable, and move with a certain flow. In RahXephon the OST is also great though in this case composed of mostly classical, the concept is somewhat the idea of music changing the  read more

If you thought Blue Submarine was cool for it's use of jazz music during action sequences, you'll enjoy Bebop's fight and flight scenes. However, I cannot recommend Blue Sub to fans of Bebop, because Bebop's soundtrack is far superior and overall Blue Sub will disappoint in this department.

Both are Space Operas and dip into the Space Western genres. They lack many similarities in plot and characters (except for a rather uncanny similarity between Harlock and Vicious, appearance-wise, right down to the creepy bird) but through genre alone they are quite related and both have themes of 'space'='freedom'. Harlock is also one of the forerunners of Space Opera anime in general, so any fan of Bebop should see where the influences came from, and any fan of Harlock couldn't do wrong with what's been called one of the best anime ever made EVER.

Although Rurouni Kenshin - Tsuiokuhen doesn't have as many episodes and therefor not the same level of development it's plot is comparable to the underlying plot of Cowboy Bebop. There is the same sort of melancholy beneath the exterior of the protagonist and the fight scenes are on par with Cowboy Bebop. Also the Rurouni Kenshin series (Shishio arc) is something that I believe people who liked Cowboy Bebop would like. However there aren't many series that can compete with Cowboy Bebop in quality so don't go in expecting another CB.

The first thing you may think when seeing this is, what the heck does Meme Iroiro Yume no Tabi have in common with Cowboy Bepop? Well, there are many things. * MIYT has battles in space and land battles in some episodes, which is a main theme in Cowboy Bebop. * These shows are both hit-or-miss. You either like them or you don't. * Each protagonist have a good, original backstory. * There is a lot of humor in the shows.

The animation in both series is very similar. Also, both anime are initially focused on the Western audience.

Both series excel in terms of atmosphere. Thematically, both explore the distinction between simply living and being alive, and emphasize that nothing really changes about individuals and the world. Both have melancholic endings and moments during which the individual may be thrown into the "void." Although vastly different, they both have appeal as human stories; Bebop is more specific by emphasizing human interactions while Texhnolyze focuses upon encapsulating humanity as a whole.

This is really somewhat of a jump. But cowboy bebop and bartender are heavily themed around one´s past, what makes us being what we are? what have made us to reach to this point in life? and so on. Cowboy bebop is of course far more action packed and one can see cowboy bebop without really being into the cowboy bebop´s depths of human psychology. Bartender has no action at and is all about the characters. And they are both somewhat episodic, of course bartender being more episodic than cowboy bebop.

Akito the Exiled and Cowboy Bebop feature Sci Fi elements in a futuristic environment where an MC in both shows have a dark past to overcome before moving on. Not to mention the main cast is similar too as well as the antagonist. Both have jazzy soundtrack produced by none other than the all time great Yoko Kanno and feature badass action sequences. Another note is that both series are produced by Sunrise.

In the sequel Shippuden though not up to the standards of Bebop, it does not change the fact that the moments live up to today even the future generations. I notice some themes are similar: -Existentialism: It is the reason why the characters exist and what their motives are making us relate really -Nihilism: Even among the characters, this trait defines their driving factor in pursuing their goals Both of those themes are the consequences of the very tragedy that took place and serves as the catalyst for each respective plot. Like Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop shares some similarities with Iria, in that it is set in world with multiple settled planets, each with their own customs, and where space travel between them is cheap and common. Kind of a cyber-punky world. Where they differ, is that Iria and Outlaw Star, definitely have a more "far out" feel in that they seem very removed from our own world, like far future, or another galaxy. Cowboy Bebop on the other hand, clearly takes place in the future of our own present world, and includes references to the Earth, and so has some elements that tie it in  read more

Both anime came out in a similar time period (late 90's-early 2000's), and have similar animation. Cowboy Bebop and Mezzo Forte are action-packed anime with bounty hunters and have a well done presented relationships with the main cast of characters. The main characters in both series are very enjoyable and memorable. While Mezzo Forte is listed as a hentai, the edited version is safe to watch. I recommended checking the edited version out if you don't like sex scenes. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Very strange recommendation, but there's an arc in both where a character, who had previously been under a veil of mystery, had to approach their past and put things behind them, with both of these arcs including fighting an old friend over a woman. This recommendation isn't for the shows as a whole, but how these arcs parallel. They're both incredibly well-written and emotion evoking. I assume more people have seen Bebop, so check out the Initial D franchise if you have the time.
