Updating my short bio by analysing the older:
"Avant-garde artist/composer. [1] I prefer reading than watching films [2] and you probably bore me [3]."
1. Yep.
2. The bio as a whole was tongue-in-cheek but sounds very snob and I hate that. Yes for reading though I also love movies but ADHD and multiple jobs made me a slug, struggling to keep my music and media works going, can't even watch a movie without sleeping and I haven't read a whole book this year. I'm overwhelmed and only watching silly comedy cartoons, movies for 2000s teenage girls, etc before falling sleep. Barely any noise and european black and white boredom, sorry; but I miss having patience to jap movies.
3. I'm actually pretty friendly but I'm too negative and bored, perhaps nothing personal lol.
I'm running the japanese/brazilian label ULTRA GASH RECORDS, check if you're interested in avant-garde, industrial, musique concrète/electroacoustic, no wave, electronica, noise, jazz/prog, weird black/extreme metal/grind, techno, neofolk/classical, or anything obscure musically. Follow it on bandcamp, instagram, facebook etc. I'm behind the long-time experimental project ESMECTATONS, also Yutokaiomaru and other groups. You can find some albums on bandcamp, check the label hyperlink above in this text.
ULTRA GASH RECORDS is currently translating classic obscure manga/GEKIGA's guide
"MANGAZOMBIE"
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ENGLISH (originally published only in japanese in the 90s)
The project is totally DIY but the book will be physically released and I'm funding it myself. To support me with this and other possible future projects buy some of the merch or digital albums from the label. As you can see I work with many japanese artists and have a professional translator helping out, but I'm also studying japanese myself to keep bringing japanese rare media to the rest of the world.
I am also here: LETTERBOXD LASTFM
Don't have a goodreads yet although spent much of my life reading. But just for the record, top 3 writers that comes to mind right now: Roberto Bolaño, Peter Sotos and Osamu Dazai.
Themes I'm interested includes: cruelty, war, abuse, depression, dementia, surrealism, psychology, machines of any kind, samurai period, kinbaku/shibari, youkai, old cyberpunk/sci-fi, space, anything weird and grotesque (obviously including EROGURO and a variety of japanese cinema/literature from Mishima to pinku violence)... I have a love/hate relationship with philosophy, but yeah, it qualifies certainly as an interest. I usually hate sports but it works pretty good on anime. I also like WMT, slice-of-life and autistic series. I can pretty much appreciate maho shoujo and awful puppet/monster shit like tokusatsu/supersentai/kaiju or other silly stuff - I have a humour for nonsense and awful productions. But it all depends on my mood and if I'm watching something while doing anything else or really paying attention at the moment. Anyway, I'm into Seinfeld, that alone might explain a lot about my personality. And of course, I love japanese cinema.
Mostly can't stand modern anime bullshit and most of the people into it annoys me, sorry. If you're also into mecha and oldschool VHS anime OVAs, I'd reccomend to check old european comics, starting with 2000ad titles like Strontium Dog and ABC Warriors, then writers such as Enki Bilal, and of course Jodorowsky etc, one of the definitely best animes of all time, VOTOMS, is pretty pretty similar to what you will find plotwise from years before in Rogue Trooper, for example.
Monad, portrayed by Simon Bisley - Pat Mills' ABC WARRIORS
"I'm filthy. Lice gnaw me. Swine, when they gaze upon me, vomit. Scabs and scars of leprosy have scaled off my skin, which exudes a yellowish pus. I know not the waters of rivers nor the dew from the clouds. From my nape, as from a dunghill, an enormous toadstool with umbelliferous peduncles is growing. Seated upon a shapeless throne I have not stirred hand nor foot for four centuries. My toes have taken root in the soil and have grown up around my belly in a kind of lush growth, neither plant nor flesh, where dwell vile parasites. Nevertheless my heart is beating. Yet how could it beat if the rottenness and the reek of my cadaver (I dare not say my body) did not abundantly nourish it?"
- Lautréamont, Songs of Maldoror.
Oh, if you have a TV/monitor that is too high or otherwise inaccessible to the point that it makes it difficult to put a flash drive in, then i'd suggest getting a USB extension cable, which come in various sizes from 15 cm or shorter or 6+ meters. Might not be that attractive, depending on your setup, though, as you may have a dangling wire, but you could place it behind something. I've been making a lot of great use out of various lengths of extension cables lately to improve my wire management and make everything cleaner.
Thank you! :D
Of course!! Since childhood, stories about Anne of Green Gables has always been one of my favorites! Same here, I also love Aardman studio. Stop motion is so beautiful, I'm always amazed by how much time people spend on it, those tiny details damn. The stop motion of Timmy Time is really well done, it's so smooth. I personally love the colors of Timmy Time, they weren't maximum saturation and annoying, unlike some shows from today. Definitely a work of art. Yea, I get what you mean. Timmy look like he got ADHD traits haha. Absolutely, Timmy Time were one of the best for children to watch even adults <3. Might go watch a few episodes of Timmy after sending this message to you haha.
I would say it's pretty underrated. It only got popular for awhile when the anime movie dropped out. Still, I've barely met anybody who seen it </3. Music manga are one of my favorites genres, even without music/sound playing, I can still feel vibrations when they are playing their instruments. Hopefully you'll be able to read it whenever you get the time!
Hope you've been doing good! Sending love, don't overdo yourself with what you're busy with!
Hey, your profile picture is adorable. I love Timmy, he's a cutie, and his friends. Yabba and Mittens were my favorites haha. Anyways, your profile is cute and you have really nice favorites.
Kurosawa <3
Yes, Pantera is garbage. I suspect a lot of anti-metal people probably are that way because of them and similar stuff, aside from being scared away and not able to acclimate to screaming or growls.
lol, it's kind of funny how all over the place the full A New Form of Beauty is. Seems sort of standard (but good and very listenable, whereas I think a lot of the popular old albums are pretty trash) post-punk at a number of parts, especially... probably for part 1, but it gets very weird and eclectic, with the various segments. Lots of touches of ambient, musique concrete, etc. Maybe no wave is good to reference at parts. Not keen on the voice at a number of parts, but it's otherwise really solid. I'm not as into the If I Die album. Based on tags, I'm not surprised I prefer the other one; though still weird, IID is a good bit more rockish. I'll listen to some more CD soon.
Hahaha... I'm trying to remember if I ever gave Korn an honest listen, as I get really snobby about random things, and I always hated the name "Korn." XD
I don't remember Lamb of God too well, but I don't remember them being the cream of the crop in that sort of metalcore scene. If I point to another famous one, they seem pretty watered down and uninteresting compared to, say, Converge. lol, I always seem to want to ask what you think of Maximillian Colby at this point, though they're more of a mathy post-hardcore band and a bit old. Oddly, I was rummaging around through random music sites and was pretty nooby then, but that was a band that stuck with me, yet most people even into this type of music seem to not be familiar. Then again, I guess they had a similar crash and burn brief run, like so many other bands in the genre. :S
I have to agree that Sigh is fun, but they never seemed great. Some brilliant moments if you can get past the cheese, though. XD
There's some pretty good stuff from sludge and doom, but I also dislike a lot of it. Don't really like stoner stuff as it's much more like "brometal" or something and tends to lack a solid mood. Metal in general I have a hard time navigating. Boris is pretty hit or miss more than just about any other metal band (where you probably like or dislike most albums from any particular metal band) because they genre hop probably even more than Sigh when it comes to album to album, though Sigh has more eclectic shifts per song. Some of it gets too much into generic metal styles, and I don't think they're that good at pop music, but I do like some of their albums. Ah, yeah, I don't really like Melvins either. It's entry level, but even back when I first listened to it, I was underwhelmed. I suppose it's okay for 1-2 songs here and there, but I have the same issues with that as I do most rock and hard rock music. Dark ambient is also a tough genre; seems there's a lot of generic ambient as well nowadays, but DA is much, much worse off. I've come to appreciate some of the more modern bands, but even like Lustmord, which a lot of people rave about (and I like some of it)... kind of sounds like every other artist in that genre nowadays. The older ones that were kind of in the more post-industrial circle had much more interesting sounds. I do like some of the death industrial ones too, though. Some of them have unique genre mergers. Okay, I tended not to like death rock, and I can't remember if I tried Virgin Prunes (pretty sure I didn't). Any albums you'd rec? I know CD, of course, and have played them in the past, but I probably need to try them again too. Maybe we can talk about one of these genres in the future, with specific bands, in more depth.
Some drone metal also sounds too alpha male noise somehow, and I prefer the ones that brings me that kind of "devastation" vibe, dunno of you can get my imagery feelings hahaha
I'm not sure what "alpha male noise" is exactly, but maybe it's not far off from me calling stoner metal "brometal." I guess sort of the standard angry masculinity from standard hard rock and metal, just filtered through more noise, lol.
Whoa, 2tb is a big, unorganized mess! A lot of Sun O))) is pretty boring, yeah. Pretty sure I recall select material being a lot better, though. A lot of these bands are fairly noiseish, but I'd say drone metal has a distinct mood and sound from noise and other metal that makes it worth playing if you like that style.
I'd definitely recommend checking older Endon albums if you haven't tried them before. I recall some of the older ones being great and probably better than this one (though I probably haven't absorbed it yet) Yeah, I'm not sure if it's some cache thing with the browser that I'm mostly using at the moment, but it works fine with other browsers, lol. :S
You sound like you keep a pretty tidy digital collection. Mine is an absolute mess in a bunch of folder dumps that I haven't even looked at since I got a new computer. I tend to just redownload an album when I want to listen again. Not exactly ideal. XD
Do you like Corrupted at all? That's another Japanese drone metal band. New one was ambient and heavy on sound design, which I prefer to the usual ultra-slow drone.
That sounds promising with the new one specializing in this kind of thing. My download hasn't finished yet, but I saw enough numbers to know there is more than 500. At least some of them are in artist-specific folders, but I get the feeling those are old images. Probably... would need to rummage through and copy and paste the best ones into artist-specific folders. From what you said last time, I fear that Yoshimi Noboru, for example, has images in a large batch with other artists, but maybe it's not that bad. But there aren't any kanji or anything that would indicate which manga they're from? Guess I'll see when the download is done.
Did Takeo dump hundreds of images in one folder without organization? Although tedious, it probably wouldn't be that hard to figure out what the kanji is from using search engines (aside from some of them being easy to recognize). A search of the kanji would probably make it easy to narrow down the mangaka at least. Since there are roughly... 30 in the book? Oh, I guess the other thing is... who provided the scans or images to Takeo? I think he was wanting the source to be credited. So that might be part of the kanji there?
It's admittedly a daunting book for first-time publishing, given that it's a translation and is fairly ambitious because it appears to be a complete overhaul of the image component of the book. Given the situation in Brazil atm, I think the deadline being pushed back a bit is very understandable.
I actually don't remember. Do you have MZ updates somewhere? I agree, that's a good idea to show some of the images while going through them. lol, I get the feeling there are some much more disturbing ones unearthed since the last folder of images. :P
Oh, wow. That's a lot. No, I've overlooked the news regarding weather and the like. Looks really terrible from the images alone. Sorry to hear about the setbacks, and I hope it wasn't too bad in your area. If the original duo were trustworthy, then I imagine whoever they would find for you they would be able to vouch for. Keep me posted, and let me know if you need help sifting through the images.

I think there might be more than one series, so I'm not sure if it was specifically from that, but I think it is.
