I'm a college junior, Graphic Design major with a concentration in Illustration. I got started in anime watching Pokemon, Digimon, DBZ and Sailor Moon as a kid and have been hooked ever since.
I like anime and manga with psychological themes, fantasy and science fiction, romance and humor, and great art! If you have recommendations, feel free to give me any in the comments! Unless it's moe-style and ecchi...then, please keep such recommendations to yourself.
I also enjoy reading books and writing fanfiction. I'm a fujoshi otaku, and if that bothers you get over it. I am also very interested in science, history and art. There are people on this site with longer lists than mine, but I'm pretty prolific in reading manga and watching anime. If you want to look for something to read/watch, feel free to peruse my lists. They are conveniently annotated!

I did love the ending to Sakamichi no Apollon! I was so glad they ended it nicely. I know far too many anime that don't and they had me worried, also. And I loved Kaoru's hair, too. It threw me off for a second, like, that's him right? Time just suddenly skipped, right? xD Somehow it amused me that both boys grew their hair out, while the female character cuts her's off. But they all looked nice.
Would the bizarre one be Jinrui somethingorother? Because I love that one already. xD It's like continuing the trend to have one strange and silly anime each round, now. From Penguindrum to Tsuritama and now this. I love it. But aside from that one, I'm keeping my eye on a few others. I'm not 100% decided on how much I like this season. xD OH but Moyashimon season 2 is of course a keeper as well!
And no, I haven't watched that yet. My friend recently picked it up and I sort of considered it, but me and sports...I'm not so sure. LOL. Although I do like some, but they don't always work for me. But since you said you don't normally like them either...perhaps that's more reason to give it a chance. I also recently remembered Bakuman. I never got around to trying that out, but had wanted to back when season one was out. o__o;; So I'll try that too, if I can find a stream. Because the torrent I found sucks, for lack of a better word. Haha.
Woo long post is long, sorry. xD;
I agree with you...that chapter is pretty mundane. Obviously some translators are better than others (my absolute favourite translation is that of the Kara no Kyoukai novels, which are fan-translated, but are so amazingly written. The translator knows several languages fluently, and it shows). Some light novels are translated professionally, like Welcome to the NHK and the Boogiepop ones (but Seven Seas discontinued that in the middle of the series) and you can import them from America pretty reasonably. I'm surprised some publisher hasn't picked up the Haruhi Suzumiya ones tbh, though the fan translations are reasonable enough. Again, you've probably been here before but this site hosts most light novel translations in English:

Though I find that, apart from a few exceptions, light novels are kind of trashy. I used to think that it was manga for people who can't draw, but I think that's being too harsh, haha. I was really pissed off when I read the Sword Art Online LN, but that's a rant for a whole different comment...please anticipate it.
Jesus Christ. The worst part of that video is the bread's use of 'dechu'. Ebichu flashbacks:
Weirdness score:
1 for noirgrimoir, 0 for maru.
I haven't seen it myself, but my friend told me the OP features a magical girl dancing in front of famous burning Japanese buildings...
While I'm in a linky mood...

Here's the first chapter of Jinrui (from the light novel). It's...okay. I laughed at the frequent use of 'arse'. It reminded me of reading James Joyce's love letters.
By the way, I forgot to compliment you on your drawing technique 0_0. Very nice.
I read the first chapter of Jinrui, it sounds completely different to what you're describing, haha. Bread suicide...hm...
Reminds me of potato-dono:
As for Jinrui, I have it downloaded, but I haven't seen it yet. What's it about?
Can I ask what you thought happened
