Both adventure shows about a small group of characters and bounty hunters chasing after bounties. Sam, like Spike is looking for a lost loved one. Philly is reminiscent of Spike with the afro and his cynical, snarky personality. Casey is reminiscent of Ed's childlike, positive personality even though they live in a cruel world.

Both shows are about a group of characters going on space western adventures and have bounty hunters in them. Spike and Philly and Casey and Ed are quite similar to each other, and both shows have some similar humour.

It's very hard not to get a Cowboy Bebop from this anime. Replace the ship with a car and mix up the characters, and you've got Cannon Busters
