Your favorite anime is crap. But don't worry, mine is too.
If I have an anime/manga already scored, even though it is currently airing/publishing (this applies to primarily new series), that's just my feelings on the series at whatever episode/chapter I'm on.
I'm a [contributing] member of the MAL Rewrite club. Synopses I have written:
I like writing reviews here and there, but it's often for stuff already completed months, even years before. If I do write a review though, you then know I either loved or absolutely hated whatever it was I reviewed. I only get inspired to review for those strong emotions. Either that, or the community lead me to a false sense of hype for a work, and I felt a need to correct the record.
I have a 1-10 review scale for the actual scores MAL keeps, but I've also implemented another scale which you can see on both my anime and manga lists. It's a 1-4 scale which has a bit more general connotations, mostly regarding enjoyability and how likely it would be that I re-read or re-watch the thing:
1 - This is in the lower tier of things to watch/read. It was anything between horrible to unmemorable. Would probably have to be forced into re-watching/re-reading anything with this score.
2 - Slightly below average. Nothing too terrible, but not something I would watch/read again in the near future.
3 - Above average. I either really liked it or loved it. May give a re-watch/read consideration, but not at the top of my list of things to do.
4 - Absolutely brilliant, mostly reserved for the 9-10 range on the MAL scores. I'd re-watch/read these over and over . . . and chances are I already have.
I've semi-returned after a long period of absence. Might start tossing out reviews a bit more often: who knows.
Last volumes of Vagabond are a total joke and taking into consideration that the manga will never end, you could easily say that Vagabond isn't the best manga ever but you will need to be objective for that, something you are lacking. Anyways you like Punpun, your opinion is flawed per se.
Just wondering how ttgl and kill la kill are in your favourites, yet imaishi isn't one of your favourited people? The same applies for how bebop and champloo are in your favourites, yet watanabe isn't.Just curious as to why since they are both amazing directors and you seem to love the anime they produce.
Hey there again!
I know this is pretty awful, only replying to a message well over a year later (I'm really bad at keeping up convos) but I've been getting back into anime/manga recently, mostly re-reading some of my favourites and looking into some of the more recent flicks. I have to say that your reply about your favourite characters was super in-depth and very interesting, all the more so in that I haven't really put that much thought into my favourite characters (you're sorta making me wonder why i like the characters that i do now haha, maybe i should reflect on that)
Re-reading berserk I have decided to put Luca up in my favourites list for characters despite her extremely small part in the series, this is mostly because of her selflessness, her strength and the mercy she showed that fluffy-haired piece of shit Nina. She's really the kind of person I aspire to be. Her optimism despite the shit circumstances she found herself in was amazing.
Well, that's the thought process behind my most recent favourite characters, I hope that almost two years isn't too late to continue a conversation (Yeah, this won't be happening again)
Now to start doing the revision for my uni work i should be doing, I'm a horrible procrastinator :(
We have pretty similar impressions. However, I do agree the characters and pacing of Joker Game are pretty weak and could be improved upon but I really get engrossed in the tactics and setting when I watch it. Very unique and enjoyable. Easily AOTS for me so far. Stray Dogs is the only that comes close.
Kiznaiver is interesting so far but I'll have to watch all the way through to decide. Definitely not a dime a dozen show. Same for Kabaneri (but I really do worry it'll take the SnK route).
Sakamoto is way too repetitive for me. I agree about The Lost Village though. The characters are so aggravatingly dull and stupid, I can't stand it. Definitely will drop if it doesn't get interesting in a couple more episodes.
I'm not sure how the manga is set up, I assume the anime is subdivided the same way, but it's a bit harder to imagine reading it, since it was originally a visual novel? It was meant to be watched, because of how it unfolds, so I would think reading it would lead to undue confusion, but that's just me.
