Have a wonderful day 💖
I definitely like subs more. I've only watched Eng dub for my childhood shows, like Pokemon, Yugioh, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, etc. Eng dub nowadays are pretty bad imo, or it's just simply that Japanese VAs are usually much better.
Well it's mainly because of the protagonist. If Rudeus wasn't such a pedo/pervert, Mushoku Tensei would probably be a lot more universally loved. I know quite a few people who've dropped the show solely because he's the main character. Not to mention that the 2nd season spent the entire time dedicated to Rudeus mourning over his erectile dysfunction. But anyways, it's fine if Rudeus is a pervert from the beginning and develops into a better person, but that doesn't seem to be happening. And the problem is that the show often treats his pervertedness as a gag and he rarely, if ever, suffers the consequence for it. For example, he literally kidnapped two cat girls, sexually molested them, and didn't feed them for days, and it's all waived off as comedy.
Just the scene with Tenma pointing a gun at Johan and that Johan survives and escapes from the hospital. I get that, usually I don't really care about spoilers, but sometimes it makes me lose motivation to watch a show until the end for no particular reason. Well it's been a while since I'd watched Monster so maybe if I re-watched it now my opinion would change...but to start off, Monster in general is grounded to reality. But Johan - he's like this mysterious entity who could somehow manipulate multiple kids into killing people and I just found that so unbelievable. And something about him getting away with poisoning people and successfully disguising himself as his twin sister took me out of the show. I really like Grimmer though, if anything I'd probably finish the show for him.
Ah yeah my bad, I've talked about Vinland Saga with quite a few people so I often get confused who I talk to about what ^^' Nah I'd say I'm actually more on the privileged side, given that I live in one of the most expensive states/areas in the US and have never lacked in terms of any necessities. It's just my personality, I suppose. I don't really care to spend stuff on things I don't really need...well, my one exception is manga books, which my family makes fun of me for but I don't really care what they think. Of course, I do have moments of overspending as well, but that's only if I'm eating out with others. Never by myself. If I lived by myself, I'd probably just eat salad all day lol though that's partly due to my laziness to cook a proper meal as well
My sister is going to a college alumni meetup and she invited me to go with her and her friends, so I just accepted since I've always wanted to go to the East Coast. Gonna be one of those times where I'll have no choice but to spend more than usual haha.
I do have discord, my UN is ali.lh . Though I'll say on my end, I don't use the app much so my response time might be the same/slower lol. But I don't mind whichever.
Only problem though, is I no longer enjoy most of what I watch like I used to, I'm not excited about anything from this season and the previous one.
What about you? Watching anything interesting?
Haha you'd described my exact experience with Golden Kamuy before I watched it. I blew it off for a while, but I had nothing to watch since Fall seasonal anime had just finished airing, and a friend recommended it to me right when I was looking for a non-seasonal to watch so I was like, sure, why not? I have mixed feelings about Mushoku Tensei (probably pretty obvious why), but overall I still enjoy the series and I'm looking forward to the next sequel that's coming out soon!
Oh wow, binge-watching Pluto over a single day must've been one heck of an experience.
I already got semi-spoiled on the ending of Monster - which probably contributed to my laziness to finish the show - but great to know you loved it. The tension and realistic designs are my favorite aspects of Monster, but I actually have the opposite opinion in that Johan is the main reason I don't like the show. It's a super controversial and unpopular opinion, I know lol. But maybe my thoughts about his character will change when I watch the remaining episodes. I'll get around to finishing it...someday.
Huh that's an interesting way of looking at things. I'll admit I can't relate much to the "hunger" aspect since I rarely crave much of anything in general, be it food or clothes or whatever, but that aspect is definitely shaped by how I was raised. Y'know your thoughts immediately made me think you'd enjoy Vinland Saga, and after looking at your profile I guess I wasn't off haha. The second season, especially, explores some of that as well, especially with Thorfinn's character development.
Yeah life is tough, just gotta push through it with all you can.
Oh that definitely sounds like a lot...sorry to hear about the miscarriage. Glad to hear things have calmed down, but hope things will only get better for you from here. Mine has definitely been more easygoing, nothing much going on in my life in general aside from work and studying since I'm not the most active person out there. But there is something I'm looking forward to in the next few months - I'm going to the East coast, gonna visit NY and the states around there for the first time.
Ahhh Monster, I started that anime in 2020 but have put it on-hold multiple times since then lol. It's a pretty hard anime to binge. I don't know if I'll ever get around to finishing it, though I heard the ending is a big hit or miss. I see you just finished Monster, how'd you like it?
Well other than Frieren, there's a series that multiple people have recommended to me that I've recently binge-watched 4 seasons of in two weeks, called Golden Kamuy. It's a very enjoyable watch. It has a very likeable character cast - even the antagonists are extremely interesting - though the humor is very crude (in a funny way). Apothecary Diaries is also really good if you like intelligent female main characters and mystery with a pinch of romance on the side. Pluto, by the same author as Monster, also recently received a very good anime adaptation. Nothing I'm watching in the current season stands out to me.
Oh cool thanks, I'll check those Japanese resources out when I have the motivation lol. That's understandable, picking up another language is always hard and takes a ton of time and consistent dedication.
The job market has been really dry for the past half a year or so, so yeah it's pretty hard to find a new job. I'm gonna try to obtain an accountant certificate this year, after I pass that it should be significantly easier for me to find a new job with better work/life balance and higher pay. But studying is gonna be a huuuuuge pain. >.>
Hope you've had a great start to the new year~
If you like Mushoku Tensei I'd definitely recommend Sousou no Frieren, it's multiple steps up in every way - including, ofc, not having a pedo MC.
Ohh well you certainly can't go wrong either way, Spy x Family is a very fun watch as well! Guess it's down to whether you're in the mood for mystery/thriller/time travel or comedy/wholesomeness.
Ah nice well 20 min/day is still very impressive, especially if you have the drive to do it consistently and self-taught. Just curious, which online resources do you use?
Same as my company, the staff workers get underpaid while higher-ups and management get insane salaries in comparison. I'm currently stuck in the middle position, which is really the most stressful since I'm the in-charge expected to deliver quality work to the clients. I really want to quit but with how the current economy is, unfortunately, it's pretty difficult for me to find a new job.
Happy (Late) Thanksgiving to you too! I am indeed xd
no wonder you have more in ptr than I have watched in total till now smh
how far are you in Monster ?
