When someone you hold dear is met the fate of losing their life, and you have the ability to go back in time to that moment to try and save them, do you have what it takes to do it? In Steins;Gate, science is used to create a time a machine, rewinding the clock and changing the course of fate and time by saving the one life (or two) In Erased, it is a slightly more chaotic as there is no science involved, only a lingering sense of guilt and the ability to rewind the clock before a drastic event occurs. Imagine a world where fate demands to be corrected and it is willing to go through an endless binding cycle to achieve that purpose. The curse of time travel being portrayed at its best where the ones involved either witness gruesome deaths or experience it themselves. Happy endings are hard to come by but the future remains uncertain, it is up to the individual to decide the closure they deserve. ‘Boku dake ga Inai Machi’ showcases a game of cat and mouse that has seen it being dragged on for over 10 years in which all the tragedies that unfolded before us are planned by one  read more

Both series feature a main character that, through a miraculous event of self-justice, are put in a youthful setting in hopes to solve a major problem in their lives. While Erased focuses on the character progression of those around the main character, ReLIFE is primarily focused on the main character himself. Although both stories are presented as a mature personality in a younger body-- there are still clear differences in the tone, considering Erased is based on a middle school life, while ReLIFE is set in a final year of high school. Tension is much lower in ReLIFE, since it's not a  read more

Surprised there aren't more people drawing connections between these two... Similar in terms of genre and tone (psychological suspense/thriller), in addition to overall visual style (initially thought they might have been the same studio). In terms of plot, both follow the travails of powerful children facing dark/sinister, still-more-powerful antagonists, which leads to the cat-and-mouse pacing of each episode. Prime differences would be in setting ("Boku dake..."/"Erased" is more realistically grounded, despite the key plot device motivating the central arc of the story, vs. the futuristic sci-fi/fantasy world of "Yakusoku..."/"Promised Neverland"), and protagonist focus ("Boku dake..."/"Erased" largely centers on the perspective of one MC, vs. "Yakusoku..."/"Promised  read more

Anohana is a dramatic, intense and emotional train ride about overcoming childhood trauma. Erased is similar, with a science fiction twist with more of a mystery element.

These shows are very similar and are both awesome. Both shows deal with time travel to help victims, investigations, psychopaths and similar societal issues. A lot of heartwarming moments in both too, prepare some tissues! The aesthetic is also very similar, and episodes of both shows end with suspens.

Both these shows kind of give off the same vibe. Something weird is going on due to the past events of character's childhood. Mystery and serious undertones.

There are several factors that provide some similarities between both shows. For one thing, the main protagonist's have a mental age that surpasses far more than they appear to be, giving them the advantage of years of experience and wisdom. The key theme between the two is mystery solving for the purpose of finding out the truth and uncovering the culprit behind the murders and preventing it by whatever means possible.

These two are very similar in the way that the mc wants to "save" or "help" a female character, in their childhood years. Koe no Katachi is more about regret and the mc is trying to make up for it, while Erased is just trying to prevent something from happening. There are no "fantasy" elements to Koe No Katachi however. Both are kind of about human bonds. KNK has a more emotional growth to it, while Erased it's just Satoru trying to fix his problem, but not necessarily becoming super close to the girl (they have moments but i wouldn't say theyre close.) Boku dake ga Inai Machi involves a main male character who is working things out mostly by himself and solving a mystery. It is suspenseful and psychological. Gosick is similar in the aspect that there is a main male character, and there are many mysteries to be solved, although the main character does not do it alone. Time is a key element in both shows, and flashbacks and other imaginings are common in Gosick. Some female characters show resemblance in both shows, and one of the only major differences is the time setting.

The only aspect I can recommend the two with is a literal one. It is time travel. I suppose in anime, there is a means to use time travel as a device that either comes across as trying to be intelligent or one that uses the trope as a means to create unsuspected twists and turns. I can tell you now, that there isn't too much of that in Erased nor Vivy's Song. There are a load of differences in Erased and Vivy's Song, as expected, but if you like a dedicated character, one that very much will do anything for the wellbeing of said other, you  read more

Both mystery series are prime examples of plots that bite off far more than they can chew and, in the end, have disappointing conclusions. Both series have engaging premises and well-developed build-up; however, in both cases, a proper ending is missing. Both series flourish with intriguing questions, but fail where it really matters - the answer.

Transcending universal logic for the sake of an individual may seem like something common, but the feat is not an easy one at that. Both Erased and WEP follow characters who will do their utmost to save those with varying importance to their lives. Erased does this with Satoru jumping through time for the sake of saving 3 individuals soon to die due to a serial killer. WEP does this with teenage girls wanting to save those dearest to them through fighting against evil. Both are pretty somewhat good psychological anime. WEP having action to add on than the mystery/detective type story in Erased.

Both these series play with the idea of time travel and its consequences. Both deal with interpersonal relationships as well as the loss of a loved one really well. Honestly, both had me on an emotional roller coaster and were good at investing the viewer into their world. They reminded me of each other not only plot-wise, but atmosphere-wise as well. If you like one, try the other.

They're similar in how both of the main characters are isolated from most people and often have inner narrations throughout the story. They both have events in their past that are often brought up and are relevant to the plot. They share psychological and seinen genres, which makes them feel similar as well. Not to mention, both series deal with very dark topics, like suicide (NHK) and kidnapping (ERASED).

The main character causes a mistake in their past they need to fix, but don't know what exactly it was. They spend their time in a child's body during elementary/middle school but with a different mentality than what is expected from other students of their age. Both have a heroine who lives a troubled life and the protagonist tries to get them out of that situation. The major difference in Erased is that the protagonist is still alive in the present, while in Colorful they are in the afterlife.

She stood alone with the lamplight and snow fluttering down onto her in the glittering darkness of the night. If I call out to her will it change our fate? Thought the male leads of both series. Serial murder mystery, temporally nonlinear plot riddled with suspense, and beautiful music by Yuki Kajiura make both of these worth the watch. Where the series differ: the Kara no Kyokai movies offers a philosophical perspective on murder and a kick-butt female lead; while Boku dake ga Inai Machi focuses on the male protagonist trying to prevent its own serial murders with time travel.

It's weird to say this since they both involve supernatural elements to the plot (time travel for Boku Dake, and Ajin creatures in Ajin), but they're both very realistic in a sense, I guess because of the way the characters respond to situations and the internal consistency. Together, they navigate a society ruled by numbers, uncovering dark secrets and battling to survive.

Quite a literal similarity, with both stories having their MC go into a younger one's body and continue their adventure from there. The two MCs also start at a somewhat dead-end position living a slightly low-tier life. With Erased being a murder mystery, MT is about redeeming oneself from the harsh onslaught reality can throw. Highly acclaimed stories you should watch to see where the glory lies if nothing else.

Erased is on anime original but the style is very similar to a visual novel. - The Main Characters get the chance to fix something in the past with a mysterious power. - The Main Heroines have problems with their parents, Main Heroes try to save them from that. - Boku dake ga Inai Machi is darker, because it involves mystery & murder.
