I've seen Parasyte, but I wasn't much of a fan. I thought it had inklings of being really great, but was a little wobbly in its characterisation and pacing. I would probably much prefer the manga, but I do agree with you about the ending. It's one of those shows that is both closed, but not entirely wrapped up, which works to its benefit. I've only seen a little bit of Sword Art Online, but I totally get what you're saying. I felt the same way with the recent Utawarerumono series. Utawarerumono was one of the first anime I watched back in like 2006, and they came out with a sequel ten years later. On one hand, it felt great being in the company of familiar characters and the setting, but on the other, the original series was so well told and completed, that I was happy for it to be left alone. Yeah, that's something that happens a lot these days. If a show gets really popular, then the network will often commission as much as they can, to maximize profits and cash in on the success.

No, I haven't read the comics, and I'm not too sure how I would feel about another series. I didn't think Korra was necessary, really. Avatar is one of those shows that is so neatly contained and impeccably told that it just stands so strong by itself. When they announced Korra, and revealed all the new details, like how Aang died pretty young and whatnot, I was kind of disappointed. On one hand, it's great to revisit the Avatar universe from another angle, but on the other, it ended on such a great note that I kind of wanted those characters to have some room to breath and just ponder at what they might get up to afterwards, but they announced Korra and half of them were dead. Still, there were some great moments in the first season of Korra where they kind of teased Aang's legacy and traced his work as the Avatar. I really liked this moment. I'll have to give the comics a read, but again, I know there's one that deals with Zuko's mother, but I really liked that they left that ambiguous in the show. To me, it feels as though Avatar became so big that Mike and Bryan kind of felt obliged to fill in all the details. I like it when some stuff is left up to the viewers.

Yep. I did exactly the same as you. I watched the first season of Korra as it aired, and thought it was good, but nowhere near the quality of Avatar. Then, before I knew it, three more seasons had been released. I've heard some great stuff happens later on, but I also know that Nickelodeon released the latter half of season three and the entirety of season four online, because viewership started to decline on television. I don't think anybody considers it anywhere close to Avatar, but I still want to finish it one day.

Absolutely. Zuko has some of the best development in any TV show I can think of. His entire arc and ultimate redemption was beautifully told. Damn, watching that clip makes me want to watch the entire series again!

Definitely. Iroh and Zuko are my favourite characters — I love their respective journeys, and the time they spend together, especially in the second season. I keep meaning to finish Korra, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
