Both these series play with the idea of time travel and its consequences. Both deal with interpersonal relationships as well as the loss of a loved one really well. Honestly, both had me on an emotional roller coaster and were good at investing the viewer into their world. They reminded me of each other not only plot-wise, but atmosphere-wise as well. If you like one, try the other.

Both tell about time traveling and the purpose of it is to make up some mistake in present time to avoid some horrible event. Even though TGWLTT is about daily life and Erase about some criminal event in the past.
From the future, I can help. Erased and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time both follow a protagonist who gains time travel abilities, in which, they use those abilities to help those close to them.
Though TokiKake's Makoto uses this power for her own accord, she later begins to use it for the wellbeings of her friends and people around her. Erased, around the same path, has Satoru miraculously go back to 1988, where he must save his friends from the serial killer, and find out their identity.
