Persona 4 is based on a game with a silent protagonist and the anime style reflects that. Lots of puzzle solving and game-like dialogues. Erased is on anime original but the style is very similar to a visual novel.
In both the characters are developed through dialogue with the protagonist and you get the feeling that there are certain set routes one could go down through interaction choices. Persona adds a battle system to the mix as oppose to being purely puzzle-based.
