Hi! My name is Jaimy. I've been a gamer pretty much my entire life and got introduced to anime by a few online friends. I find almost all anime with a psychological theme interesting. I'm also into the mystery, thriller, action, adventure, romance, drama and slice of life genres. As for a preference in demographic, I tend to really enjoy anime geared towards a seinen audience. I'm really open-minded when it comes to watching anime though and am willing to try out just about anything. If you happen to stumble upon my profile, please don't hesitate to chat with me. I'm looking to expand my plan to watch as much as possible, so recommendations are always appreciated. Random friend requests will be accepted, but please leave a message whenever you add me.
Note #1: I used to have a lot more dropdowns on my profile. I am currently in the process of doing a complete overhaul. For an accurate representation of my current favourites, see the favourite tabs provided by MAL.
Note #2: I typically do not add OVA's and specials to my list, unless they are either standalone shows or relevant to the main story.
Currently on a journey to watch every single Studio Ghibli movie

The rating system I use consists of a mix between personal rating criteria and my enjoyment level. I typically use the former category as a baseline value and shift the score up or down based on my attachment to the show. I define my enjoyment as the feeling I get from the anime.
Personal Rating Criteria:
(10)Masterpiece. Subjectively perfect; these anime are mesmerizing beyond belief and hold a special place in my heart.
(9)Breathtaking. Highly recommendable. Anime with this score are fascinating and bring a lot of excitement.
(8)Amazing. These anime are memorable. They have minor flaws but are barely noticeable due to the overall greatness of the show.
(7)Great. Not too groundbreaking, though shows in this category set an example of what makes a good anime.
(6)Good. Enjoyable anime, but more often than not lack depth. However, the pros outweigh the cons and it's worth the watch.
(5)Mediocre. Neither good, nor bad. Typically these are generic shows which bring nothing new to the table.
(4)Underwhelming. These anime may offer a mild form of entertainment, but have glaring weaknesses that cannot be overlooked.
(3)Bad. These shows have very little redeeming qualities and are heavily lacking in multiple areas.
(2)Terrible. An absolute drag to watch. Going through these anime is extremely painful.
(1)Unwatchable. A crime to the anime industry. The world would've been better off without them.
Enjoyment Level:
(10)Euphoria. Lifted my emotions to another level and could talk about them endlessly.
(9)Excitement. They brought me a lot of happiness and I could rewatch them easily without getting bored.
(8)Enthusiasm. They're not my absolute favourites, but I am still very passionate about these anime and enjoyed them a lot.
(7)Joy. Gave me a very pleasant feeling. Something could've been missing but on the whole I'm glad I watched them.
(6)Satisfaction. Adequate enough to me to make me give a cautious recommendation. Flawed, but overall I think well of these anime.
(5)Indifference. The feeling these anime gave me are very mixed. Would only recommend these to diehard fans of the genre.
(4)Disappointment. Mostly wasted potential. They aren't necessarily awful, but they feel like a waste of my time.
(3)Emptiness. I don't necessarily hate these anime, but they left me very numb and I couldn't care less about them at all.
(2)Resentment. The point where my feelings turn into bitterness and severe irritation. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
(1)Regret. I wish I would have never watched these anime at all.
That is amazing! Most people will just give up on the big 3, rightfully, so I guess Haha. I am caught up on OP and Bleach and read and watched Naruto and Boruto. For me so far: 1. Naruto, 2. OP, 3. Bleach. xD
I am a bit of shounen junkie myself; I have always been; there is no shame in that. The anime community just loves trash talk shounen, but it is what it is. But nowadays I think I tend to enjoy more mystery and historical shows.
If I am not mistaken, most of Itachi's backstory is part of Itachi's novel called Naruto Shinden series, which I read hehe. They did change a few things, but overall it is pretty similar. You're probably still going to watch the ''illusory dreams'' part, which is quite long. Hehe, good luck with that. It is not that bad, but most people hate it xD
I was also obsessed with Naruto when I first watched it; it is simply too good. I will say that Boruto is a difficult series to complete. There are 293 episodes. I did because I pretty much followed it every week, so it was manageable. I would only recommend watching if you are a big fan; there are a lot of nostalgic moments, and they are worth it, but the majority of the series is anime canon; it was not in the manga, but it is still canon. The majority of these arcs are largely irrelevant to the main plot. So I recommend you read the manga, which is much shorter and is now complete (the first part).
I’d probably only watch it to see the Naruto cast in their adult years lol.
That was literally my main motivation lol
I also think the manga is controversial; it is okay so far, but there are a lot of crazy things going on, which not everyone enjoys. At this point, the story is taking a completely insane turn; it does not feel like Naruto anymore, mainly like the original Naruto, where it was all about ninjas, etc. They now have sci-fi weapons and abilities. So it has a more futuristic feel to it. Adult Boruto is also extremely similar to Sasuke. He looks like a blond Sasuke at this point lol
I love Ranma 1/2, but it is pretty much comedy, so it really depends on which vibe you want when watching. I am also watching the new version; I just felt like watching both simultaneously lol. If you do not have time, I recommend watching the new one, as they have made it much shorter while maintaining the same atmosphere.
I am glad you have been enjoying Naruto. You can always start Boruto lol
I think people tend to exaggerate how bad the war arc was xD I personally like it, but there were some elements that could have been done better.
Yes, that is one of the series' best features in my opinion. The contrast between the two groups. I honestly do not believe there is one group that is correct and another wrong. They simply have different perspectives on the world.
I personally prefer more realistic characters, such as Madara. When you think about it, Madara was not even an evil person. (Not sure if you watched his backstory yet.) He just wanted to fix things, and he may have chosen his own methods, but I see a lot more truth in his character than, say, the village elders, who would only think about their own interests and get rid of anyone who stood in their way while pretending to be virtuous. So full of themselves.
Oh, there is a crazy plot twist in the story. He was undoubtedly a tragic character. I believe he is meant to be a contrast character to Naruto. Basically, their stories are similar, but Obito took a different path. Naruto could have taken the same path as him. That is why I think he sees himself in Naruto and that is probably the reason why talk no jutsu worked on him lol
That is one aspect of the series: there are many tragic characters. I have always sympathised with the Uchihas; I felt they were treated unfairly by the village. Oh, even more when you see Madara and Hashirama's backstory
They founded the village together
I believe Sasuke disagreed with Madara's plan for the infinite Tsukuyoumi. I believe he wanted to be a more authoritarian leader, but definitely not enslave everyone in an illusory dream; he is also a complex character who constantly changes his mind. I am not going to lie: I wish Sasuke, Madara, and Obito had joined forces in the end. However, the story would have been quite different. lol
Omg, Naruto music is everything to me. That is so difficult to decide. But my 3 favourite openings in random order are Hero comes back OP1, Closer OP4, and Silhouette OP16. I also, of course, love Sign OP6, and Blue Bird OP3 is also a fan favourite. But when it comes to the OSTs, I have so many favourites; Man of the world, loneliness, nightfall, despair, guren, early summer rain ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Oh no worries, I am doing fine, thanks. I am watching Ranma 1/2, the older version. I am having a lot of fun with it and reading a lot of stuff at once, lol. I am really into webtoons right now. I am also reading Boruto Blue Vortex, but it is only a chapter a month, so pretty easy. xD
Omg, Naruto's OSTs are the most beautiful thing in the world. Sadness and Sorrow, Loneliness, and Saika hit hard.
Yes, I believe that this had a significant influence on the war arc, but there are some positive aspects as well. This trope does not sit well with me either, but in the Naruto universe, where power and Jutsus are everything, I suppose it makes sense. It would be worse if it happened in Kingdom or Golden Kamuy, I dunno xD
I am not sure whether you are familiar with Naruto's novels; I believe I have read the majority of them, along with the manga. Maybe it is not clear from the anime, but I did not think Konoha was the absolute good guys in the story; the leaders of Konoha were also corrupt. If you know anything about the backstories of the first and second hokage, you might be able to understand what I mean, but I will not give too much away. The uchiha also suffered, and they were kind of disregarded by the rest of Konoha.
Therefore, in my opinion, the Uchiha clan had a legitimate reason for wanting the coup. My main issue is with Konoha's handling of the Uchiha; in essence, it was genocide, and I believe the third hokage contributed to it all by allowing it to occur.
I can therefore somewhat understand Sasuke's desire for vengeance against Konoha. It was unfair play by Konoha. In a way, I believe that both parties were acting in their own best interests. Given that his friends were also part of Konoha, you could also assume that he was deeply conflicted. Therefore, it is possible that he put up this facade in an attempt to forget his friends and exact revenge. Remembering what Itachi did to Sasuke when he was just 8 years old is also important. Sasuke strikes me as a somewhat realistic character because most people could/would definitely act in the same way as him. Though it is okay, I think Naruto is an "idealistic" character; personally, I like characters who are more conflicted or troubled.
Oh yeah, Minato and Kushina's backstory is one of the saddest anime moments for me. I cried a lot, and in that other scene was well.
Naruto really explores your emotions; that is one thing about it. I always think Kishimoto had the bravery to kill off some significant characters, which has an impact on the story's emotional aspect.
There are a few reasons why people dislike the later parts but I won't spoil it for you. I still enjoyed it. A complaint raised by some fans was that as the show was close to ending, it would drag on for an excessive amount of time before wrapping up. This anger increased when people were forced to wait an entire week for a new episode. But I guess people who watch the series later on could just binge-watch or skip some unimportant parts.
My favourite Naruto character is Sasuke. Though I am aware that some people do not like him, I think his character is really interesting. Secondly, Itachi and Kakashi as well:)
Oh, I see. I love Golden Kamuy, especially the manga; it is one of my all-time favorites. You should try to catch up with the anime as well because it is excellent and will only get better. A new season should be coming out soon.
There are a lot of nice Asirpa fan arts out there. I used to have her as my profile picture for a long time as well :)
Glad you are enjoying Shippuden. I am also a big fan of Naruto. Which part are you at? It is a quote from Sasuke, nicely noticed, lol.
Haha Thanks!
Love is War, Vinland Saga, and Frieren are also some of my favourites.
Right now, I am watching the second season of SAC and a number of seasonal shows.
