Shows that are profoundly dark, often reaching into the fundamentals of who we are as humans or the eventual impact we're implementing on our own human race. Shows like "Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou" or "Made in Abyss" illustrate this perfectly and have gotten me heavily interested, a show that can make me really question myself just by watching an anime is the exact types I like the most. Other stuff I like is stuff like Steins;Gate, where a lot of science, paradoxes and other supernatural but also realistic things happen.
The general thing to go by, is that I like overly dramaticwhile beingrealistic Anime shows.
10/10 shows are reserved for a very special few. These animes left me sad, in a very unexplainable way. They to some degree changed the core of who I am.
My Scoring System:
I try to keep my scoring system relatively simple. The heaviest factor for any of my scoring decisions are mainly based from my enjoyment of the show, and how memorable it is long after watching it. I try to give the shows I rate the most fair rating I can, of course I too am human, and in some cases might've simply been in a bad mood while watching, or had another reason for lowering the score. If you believe I might've given a show a less fair score or generally don't agree with what I have (then first off please don't get mad at me, it's an opinion), then, you can always tell me your opinion and reasons, and I might get a better understanding for it.
My Favourite Anime Songs/OPs:(in no order) This is not up to date!
10 (S): Perfect
A rating such as high as 10/10 should not be given to any show, usually most people would agree that there's no such thing as "perfect", but in this case, I don't think there's any other words better of describing these shows that I've given a 10/10, these shows are shows and series that have changed the way that I view anime as a medium, and in some cases would even change what I enjoy as a whole. In most cases, these aren't just "good shows" but rather shows that mean a lot to me, also therefore, these are basically always very sad, dark and realistic types of shows. These are shows you're likely to hear me speak about if we ever exchange words. These shows resonate with me on a very personal level, generally reaching stuff I'd never expect a show to ever be able to pull off and get a almost bond.
9 (A+): Brilliant
These are the types of shows that I rate as being some of the best of the best, but not exactly a masterpiece. These shows most often transcend what I first judged of the show. In this list, there will often be the best of the best fighting animes and other types of "smart" shows, the reason these rarely make their way up into 10/10 even after being great is because they rarely change the way I percieve the medium, in the case with 10/10s they change the way I see the medium, also a reason for why almost all of those shows are sad. These shows 9/10s resonate with me on a personal level, but not quite enough to get it's way into 10s.
8 (A-): Great
These anime were a pure joy to watch from start to finish; I can easily say I loved these shows. They left a very strong impression on me, performed their job as pieces of entertainment to great effect, and I found them to be highly memorable. Though these shows may not have been truly brilliant in my eyes, this isn't a score I hand out lightly; some of these still connected with me on a personal level, and I consider many of them to be favorites of mine. I had a fantastic time with these, and they're almost always worthy of a rewatch.
7 (B+): Good
Varying levels of "good." Not the best, but I still thoroughly enjoyed them. Though possessing a handful of flaws that might've irritated me from time to time, these series/films were still well-executed in most regards, had little to no issues holding my attention, and were ultimately well worth the time spent watching them. Although they might not have been great in my eyes, I still consider these anime to be solid works of entertainment. They're absolutely worthy of a recommendation, but you most likely won't find me rewatching them in my spare time.
6 (B-): Decent
These shows were just okay. While I don't regret watching any of them, a "6" is usually rather forgettable for me. The pros still outweighed the cons, but not necessarily by a very large margin; the flaws were highly noticeable, and often irked me. If I occasionally found myself checking to see how long I had left in each episode, or didn't feel like continuing on with the series for an extended period of time because of this, the anime, in my opinion, usually didn't deserve a higher score. It didn't do much for me, but I wouldn't necessarily call it "bad" either.
5 or lower (C, F): Mediocre/Bad
If at any point I'm watching a series and think to myself "wow, this is terrible," I'm going to drop it. The same applies for situations where I'm bored out of my mind, don't have any interest in continuing (nothing's gripping me whatsoever), or when things take a strange turn for the worse. I'm not going to spend my time watching something I'm not enjoying; I'm not fucking insane. And yes, I still assign scores to things I drop. Why? Because I can. If I drop an anime, I'll give it between a 1 and a 5, depending on how many redeeming factors I saw in it. Some shows from my childhood are also scored at a 5 or lower, simply because they left no lasting impact on me whatsoever. Side note: anything in my dropped list that I gave a "5" is a show I might be willing to pick back up with enough persuasion. 4 and lower is out of the question.
Enjoyment is my #1 factor when I score! My definition of a "flaw" is simply something
that affected my own personal enjoyment, and should not be viewed as a critical opinion
