Slice-of-life anime shows that talk about cute high-school girls forming band together. The two shows differ slightly in that K-on focuses more on cuteness of moe characters while Bocchi is more about comedy in an abstract way.

Yuru Yuri is like K-On with more characters and a giant love polygon. Very similar comedy and cuteness.

In a normal daily life, friendships are formed whether it is through similar hobbies or the string of fate. The most influential thing however are the memories that are established through this beautiful journey. 'Hibike! Euphonium' and 'K-ON!' showcases its environment in a slice of life and music blooming manner. The character designs and visual effects are top notch as expected leaving most of the characters looking beyond flawless. Character developments are a necessity in the series and it binds very well with the overall principle. Following the musical adventure, ambitious goals are set in order for the musical group to reach the pinnacle of  read more

They are both made by kyoani. The characters are similiar and the atmosphere is the same. Both really cute and if you liked the light tones of the show you're surely gonna enjoy k-on, which is 100% warm feelings and friendship

Let's start with what they have in common. The two shows share a similar premise in that it's about five girls in an organized group who play music. The art style is remarkably similar, and the characters tend to have cute moe characteristics both in their aesthetic design and personality. Both shows spend much of their time using music as a central catalyst to develop the characters' personalities and interpersonal relationships, and this serves to demonstrate how powerful an impact music can have on peoples' lives. But that's where most of the similarities end, as while both shows have a similar basic premise, they end up  read more

Similar moods, good character chemistry, and both are generally quite jolly with a sprinkling of sadness. While the characters in K-On are certainly less focused on a specific goal, both series show character development, growth, and meaningful/believable relationships between them.

A Channel and K-ON! are both slice of life comedy anime about four girls. The characters of A Channel also might remind one of the K-ON! girls. Both series also have a lot of music in them - in K-ON! it is from the girls in their music club, and in A Channel it is in the insert songs each episode.

Both features slice of life comedy with a group of girls. Both guaranteed to bring a laugh with their silly antics. Their group dynamics and personalities are different from each other, but it still gives a similar feel. k-on is in a music club setting, and gwudk is in a cafe setting. They don't get too in-depth into music/coffee-making, but there's still a bit of reference. If you love one of them, you would definitely like the other.

First all I have to say is, Kawaii!!!!! They both revolve around the daily lives of cute young girls and their friends. Both stories are very light hearted and employ simple life lessons on friendship and enjoying life. Don't expect for your intellect to be challenged with these series, but instead watch them with a relaxed state of mind and enjoy the comedy of the antics these lovable characters get involved in each episode. K-On!'s story is more related to music, and the girls are in highschool. Non Non Biyori girls are a variety of ages, and the story involves life in the Japanese country  read more

High school clubs about music. In K-On it's the light music club, and in Tari Tari it's choir. Both series also feature quite the quirky cast, although the main character lineup in K-On is significantly derpier and more geared toward "cute girls doing cute things," while the lineup in Tari Tari is more relatable to the viewer and is mixed, i.e. both guys and girls.

These two are pretty much the same (the first few episodes are extremly similar) with K-On! being about a group of girls trying to form a band and Free! being a group of guys trying to form a swimming club. Both are very light hearted and simple shows and the characters are extremly cliched and moe in both. They also share the same producers.

Both are enjoyable slice-of-life comedies set in highschool starring an almost entirely female cast. Very similar humor and character types. Azumanga Daioh is a bit surreal at times and K-ON has the Moe-factor and a focus on music.

Love Lab is similar to K-ON in a way that the characters are all cute and they are female and their daily activity revolves around their club. The only difference of K-ON from Love Lab is that K-ON focuses on "music" while Love Lab focuses on "love." But overall, if you liked K-ON, A Channel, and Lucky Star, I would recommend you to watch Love Lab as well! <3

Both shows are slice of life anime about a bunch of cute girls. The "main" girl joins a club even though she doesn't know much about the subject of the club, but they have a little trouble creating the club due to a lack of members and advisor. Yui from K-On can be seen as a mix of the both main chars in Hanayamata since she is not very confident, like Naru, but she's enthusiastic and lively like Hana. Aiura and K-ON! Are comedy and slice of life anime, that take place in a school setting. Aiura’s comedy, characters and their cute personalities all harken to K-ON!’s "cute girls doing cute things" style of comedy. Both series also offer superb, very fluid and really similar animation. The only downside to Aiura is that it’s a bit short and it doesn’t have much plot development in it, compared to K-On! But it’s safe to say that if you liked watching either of them you shouldn't hesitate to try out the other.

Bakuon is a lot like K-On, except with way more fanservice and with motorcycles instead of music. All five club members with speaking roles in each series are the same basic character types (Hane=Yui, Onsa=Ritsu, Rin=Mio, Hijiri=Mugi, and Chisame=Azusa), and Bakuon also shares some similar plot points with K-On, too.

-Both anime's animation look really similar because they are created by the same character designer (Yukiko Horiguchi) and they both surround school life, comedy, drama, slice of life, as the story focuses on their daily life in their respective clubs. Only difference is that K-ON's story focuses on comedy and the daily life of a group of girls, while Kokoro Connect focuses on drama/romance.

Both are filled with comedy, although of vastly differing genres, but the biggest similarity between the two remains the big draw of in show music, and this is where both shows sign. K-ON has sort of half over detailed concert/music video, while DMC has the crowd's reactions to unusual stage events, which remains the funniest thing about DMC. Fans of these probably won't overlap, with K-ON picked up by S-O-L fans and DMC by fans of Cromatarie or metalheads, but while DMC is pure untampered awesome, K-ON's awesome-ness doesn't really show until you think about how much you are enjoying a story about 4 girls  read more

Both are not entirely legit as sport or musical genre, but are the very candidate of the bishoujo anime appealing to male demography. Hina and Yui both get in to their clubs without knowing a lot about the subject matter. They both want to leave the club at first but after trying they find out that both of them have a natural talent for their subjects and stay in the club. Also on their journey both the main character and the viewer learns more about the subject and the characters. And as the series progresses both the viewer and the protagonist get more and more attached to the subject and the characters.

Both animes start off with an all girl high school cast as their main characters struggling to get something ready for their high school festivals and before graduation. What Shirobako does, is graduate them within the first episode, and then show what the girls are doing in college/work. If you enjoyed the feel-good, moe, and struggles of K-On! you'll see some parallels with the cast from Shirobako as they struggle to meet their deadlines in all their girlie cuteness. Highly recommended.

Hmm, where do I start? Basically both shows feature an incredible klutz as a main character that finds her interest in doing something. For k-on it's playing music, for do it yourself is "doing stuff yourself". Both also feature some childhood friend, albeit with different personalities. Even names of MC are alike (Yui and Yua, heh). Sure, shows are different in details, but in general they share the same vibe - MC klutz gluing up dying school club, be it a music club or a handworking club, with a personality of "comfing everyone despite looking like an idiot".

The characters are very similar both in appearance and personalities - Outgoing leader (Ritsu and Sakura) - Best friend of the outgoing leader [only ones with drastically different personalities despite similar designs] (Mio and Botan) - Rich girls who are literally clones aside from the tea (Mugi and Claire) - Adorable airhead (Yui and Karin) - "Mature" one who is quick to point out all of the dumb and incorrect things everyone says (Azusa and Natsuki) They are all in clubs (Light Music Club/Going Home Club) in which they usually do absolutely nothing except talk and be moe. K-On is also about music whereas KKK is about breaking the 4th wall.

Watch the girls struggle as they are founding their club activities. From what we know, girl baseball is not common in Taishou era, while founding music club in 2009 is as easy as gathering four people of same interest. So, while both stories feature same dramatic struggle of main characters trying to start their club, both shows have different degrees at the peek dramatic point. Both of them also offer comedy element, so you don't stop watching them before they can start their club. The shows used the struggle/settlement/victory model, common in sports and fighting series.

Young girls that are reunited in a club (music in K-On!, mahjong in Saki), doing their best to fulfill their great ambitions. In Saki, though, they are more serious about it, really dedicating to mahjong in order to win tournaments (that they start right in the beginning of the series), while K-On!'s atmosphere is more light, and the girls are more doing for fun, even if their final goal is just as ambitious. I think that K-On! is far more developed and has more lovable characters, and of course the music helps a lot, but if you like the genre you might enjoy Saki as well.

Okay, I know what you're going to say: "How these two anime are similar?!". But, there are several facts that explain their similarity. First of all, this season FLCL and K-ON tells us about four girls who gradually grow both physically and mentally. Also, to the emergence of something/someone, they lived ordinary lives, but after they met their life changed in a different direction.

Both series are slice-of-life anime that are pretty comedic. While the girls in Mitsuboshi Colors do not play instruments, they have similar senses of humor and enjoy their life with very little drama. I would say Mitsuboshi Colors mixes the naughty-children humor from Calvin and Hobbes with the cute, playful attitude of the K-On band members, so if you are also a fan of both I would really recommend this show. Also, it has a bright color palette similar to K-on, and a similar art style.

Mio's voice actor (Yōko Hikasa) voices a character which visually looks similar and sounds identical! You'll get a real kick from imagining a perverted version of Mio in crazy situations. I'm not going to sugar coat this but K-On is a lot better than endro overall. However, I do recommend endro if you like K-On just because of the fact that they both have likeable girls and comedy that will crack you up. Be warned that Endro only really picks up in terms of the story after episode 6 so if you aren't that patient then ignore this recommendation.

K-On and Slow Start are both works about friend's influence over one's own life, and use their directing and writing for the primary purpose of making the viewer feel the warmth and purity of the protagonist's bonds. The characterization in K-On is much more subtle and nuanced than Slow Start, which is fairly overt in every element; from the moment the cheery opening plays, with its bright, pastel visuals, the show's intentions are obvious, however, this does not prevent, and in fact, assists in, conveying strong themes and emotions.

Both Anime around the time where the MC joins the club with little to no experience in the club activity At the start, both MCs need the people around them to teach them from the most basic, and slowly practice and improve their skills. Both MC are incredibility hardworking as well Both anime have the same wholesome atmosphere.

Both anime is an SoL anime Kohane and Yui are quite similar: Both join the club having near-zero knowledge of the club activity Both a extremely passionate on what they are doing Both are quite bad with their grades. The advisor for both clubs is all quite similar as well, as they are both lazy and was forced to join as advisor. The vibe for both anime is quite similar, both are just high schoolers chilling at their clubroom doing club activities. However Anima Yell is more focused on their club activities and K-on! is focused on their everyday life.

Both anime are CGDCT anime with lots of comedy. The main characters of each anime are also quite clumsy in different ways and go through character development as the series goes on. If you enjoy one anime, you'll probably enjoy the other too.

in my opinion, many of the magical girl shows of the 80's were like spiritual predecessors to the kirara-kei/cute-girls-doing-cute-things genre that blew up during the 00's. before sailor moon left its all-encompassing impression on the magical girl genre, magical girl shows like creamy mami were often devoid of the near battle-series nature epitomized by sailor moon. instead, many of this era's magical girl anime would focus on cute, nichijou-kei/slice of life stories where the stakes were often very low and the episodic adventures of their characters made for spectacular levels of moe. creamy mami and k-on are similar in that the magic possessed by yuu in  read more

Jellyfish Can't Swim In The night reminds me of a more modern K-On, with it being centered around an online anonymous pop group with members comprised of high schoolers rather than a high school rock band. It also goes into more than just song creation, but also marketing, music video production and stuff like that. So far it is an amazing slice of life story that had me smiling the entire time, and also seems like it may have explicit queer rep.

Both are cute series about anime girls who form friendships with each other. K-On is a music themed slice of life, while BRS is based off of a song, and is more action-packed.

On anime focuses on music, the other in manga, but both have somethings in common, like determination, passion and talent in their respective art, though one of the girls in K-on didn't learn how to play the guitar until later on.

Both don't have a plot and are meant for casual viewing. Both are about a group of friends doing their thing in school, Grand Blue being college whilst K ON is high school.

K-On focuses on four high school girls who joined the Light Music Club by force, passion, and interest. D4DJ First Mix focuses on four high school girls who are impressed and have love and passion for DJ Music and decides to form a DJ group/unit. Both anime are musical and have bonding moments where in K-On, they try to have fun and do music to stop the club from disbanding. And in D4DJ, they also try to have fun and increase their skill in producing music to become a great DJ group. These anime are really cute and wholesome to watch with MCs being airheads  read more

both have tons of cute girls doing cute things aspects Nd the comedy in both is actually good. Both work well as anti-depressant animes that will just put you into a good mood and make you feel a little better. Also in Machikado Mazoku the main character has a great voice actor (same one as Chika from kaguya sama) that really fits the character in subbed.

They both are just cute. No plot goes anywhere, but both have cutre characters meant for eye candy. Tonikaku surrounds a guy and a girl trying to live life, whereas K ON is based off of school girls playing in a band.

The art is similar, the feel of both anime are also alike: Fun filled slice of life situation comedy type feel

Both made by Kyoto Animation and has a high school setting. K-On is focused on light music club, drinking tea, eating cake, having a fun time being less serious and more "Moe" Hibike! Euphonium is focused on brass band music , more "mature" and serious while keeping a certain cuteness of its own.

Get pulled into the unfamiliar world, the main character don't have any idea of what she should do. However both are highly motivated, by different reasons.

Another anime revolving around cuteness done right. Moe characters, humor based on situations that are both funny and cute at the same time. Great as a way to boost your spirits when feeling drab or tired.

Musical moe anyone? Piano is a more serious anime whilst K-On is more outrageous.

Yama no Susume and K-On are both slice-of-life anime surrounding the lives of a number of cute girls and their hobbies of some sort, Yama no Susume being hiking and K-On's being music. They also just aren't random skits like a good amount of slice-of-life shows, but actually have a little plot and a small amount of character development. Yama no Susume has short episodes though while K-On is a full-length show.

K-on! also has the theme of school club formation: the protagonists live the club at all times that are in school and we follow the daily life of them from the creation of the club, just like in Anime-Gataris.

Both are about group of girls having fun. Yeah, it's this 'cute girls doing cute things' type. Everyday life of girls with cute art, also with slice of life themes. Really similar feeling.

Both anime are great. The thing that i found similar in them is there r only girls and there relationships, no boys, no perents or any thing like that. only girls and there friendship.

Teekyuu has a similar setup as K-On!, only with Tennis instead of music. Teekyuu is also...a bit more random. A Yui and Kanae are pretty much the same character, except Kanae is a bit more stupid. Also, Yui is the same as Azu-nyan.

Well. Both have clubs, music issues and kinda similar characters. And when you watch Angel Beats! you feel like you are watching K-ON!

The only real similiarity between the two is that they both has a group of cute high school girls. Don't watch them right after each other. Why? All the female characters are sweet that you will get an insulin rush!! Oh!! and neither have major storylines. They are both fun to watch and enjoy. If you want something deep, neither of these will do it for you.

The similarities of these 2 animes are they have music,in Mermaid Melody they gonna save the sea from the sea demons while in K-on they have to save there club from being disband....Yui and Luchia are likely the same beacuse they are both clumsy...and the musics of K-on is very awesome and there last music Graduation Is Not The End makes me cry....that song is for Azu-Nyan....

Both about bands starting up with a couple good friends. Kaikan Phrase is darker than K-on but goes a lot more into the music. The band in Kaikan Phrase is also serious about being a band as a profession rather than just a high school club.

Both series has cute girls in a group that follows more of a slice of life story telling rather than a direct/linear story. The girls in both series are considered best friends and live their school life at their fullest every day. They have fun through various activities whether it's for entertainment, random, or just something to pass time by.

4 girls-Best friends(K-on!, Azusa is excluded from this recommendation :P) 1. K-on! and Milky Holmes is mainly on the fun and laughter the 4 friends bring, but not the main thing that brings them together.(K-on!-Light Music Club, Milky Holmes-Academy and good friends as detectives) They display similar character traits, like Mio-Herc(Elly), Yui-Sherlock(Sheryl), Ritsu-Nero, Mugi-Cordelia. More on friendship than main theme.

Yes i know k-on has no supernatural. Both shows have a group of cute girls doing mundane things, yet at the same time they both deal with personal hardships and undergo character development. They both have a sensei mentor that helps them. They're both irresistibly cute. Both shows are about personal growth. They're not particularly plot heavy, yet have a continuous narrative that shows how much the characters have changed.

K-on! And Yuru Yuri♪♪ are both very energetic animes, something that you would both watch and feel a fat off smile after each episode. The reason why I would recommend watching K-on! Is because they both have the same sorta building blocks as each other. They both contain cute little girls, and both about their daily lives, which are situated around their highschool club. However the main difference would be is that K-on! Is more solely based around achieving a certain goal, whereas Yuru Yuri♪♪ tries to become more funny rather than focusing a big plot.

In both animes the characters form a band in the school, and discover there their passion for music (in Utapri is more evident even before they form the band, but with time this starts getting more and more clear). And the most important thing: amazing songs!

The main focus of these shows is cute girls doing awesome things. In K-On they play music, in Yama no Susume they climb mountains. In K-On the main character has no musical ability; in Yama no Susume the main character is afraid of heights. The music in K-On is great; the visuals in Yama no Susume is amazing. The second season of K-On is twice as long as the first and the second season of Yama no Susume is 8 times longer than the first. The shows are both about strengthening friendships by participating in an activity together.

No, K-On is not yuri, however if you like the art style of Sakura Trick, you will like the art style of K-On, because they share the SAME art style. I saw a bit of K-ON and wondered why the art style looked so similar, because I already seen it. On other notes, both anime have a light hearted comedy feeling to it, K-On obviously missing the romance. Art style is just so cute through!

I know that this rec could seem strange since it seems that K-on and Jojo are in complete opposition, but I still cannot think about one without thinking about the other and here is why : - In both you follow a group of friend in their everyday lives. Jojo SC1 has a lot of slice of life moments (that makes everybody say it's boring while I greatly enjoyed it), you see the lifes of the 5 guys of the group doing their activity : that is travelling and fighting. gdgd Fairies really is a one of a kind anime and so finding a similar show is difficult. I'd say the main appeal of gdgd though is the conversations between the three primary girls that take place. Based on this I'd say K-ON! could be a good alternative as this is also primarily driven by the conversations made by the female cast, although with K-ON! it is 4 girls which later grows to 5. The humour differs a fair bit but the overall tone in both is light-hearted and fun.

Bunch of cute girls decides to start light music band. Lots of cuteness and moe. Main difference is that Tenshi no 3P! actually has a male lead, thus is a harem, while K-ON! is clasicall "Cute Girls Doing Cute Things" with only girls. Anyway, if you enjoyed one, you will most likely enjoy another.

The story starts as the Main Character enters a new school year. Both shows almost has the same personality with each character-- Renge as Yui, Natsumi as Ritsu, Hotaru as Mugi, and Komari as Mio. Every episodes of these series can be considered as a stress reliever that later ends into a very heartwarming feeling. The plot tackles about the cast's daily life which gradually strengthen their friendship and bond with each other. So, to sum things up, both shows is definitely not a waste of time to watch.

Both K-On and Aria are strong in conveying a relaxing atmosphere through pleasing visuals and a very beautiful soundtrack. While the shows might seem rather different on first sight, the concepts are largely the same. You get to watch a small group of friends grow subtly, but steadily, going on little escapades or just acting in their respective environment. Characters are strong in very similar ways (including all stereotypes and relationships), the melancholic and slightly nostalgic development and conclusion invoke very similar feelings. Moreover I would recommend watching Aria first, since it is (imo) more successful in overcoming stereotypes and offering a broader experience, while still accenting  read more

It is basically the same thing just without a soul eater flare to it. There is no over arcing plot. Just a group of cute moe girls doing whatever each episode. If Soul Eater Not was made the same time K-ON was made, it would have been very popular but it's not. And to be honest it feels out of place with the rest of line in the spring season. But as I digress, if you really like Soul Eater Not then K-On is right for you and vice versa

Both are really crazy slice of life shows with cute girls. The only difference is that Joshiraku's focus is not on music, though it doesn't really focus on rakugo too, it's just kind of a context for the show, and maybe this one, specially in its first four episodes, it's crazier and more self-aware than K-ON, and it's not as cute either, but it has really good designs, specially with how J.C. Staff went all out to animate it.

Minami Kamakura has the same formula as K-On, in terms of moe-girls in CGDCT daily-living, and doing club stuffs; juz that K-On is on light music and its theme as well, whilst this anime has cycling. The charm is that, both shows utilises real-life brands: K-On! has Fender, Gibson, Yamaha, and Korg showcased on the show; while Minami Kamakura has like, Cannondale featured, for example.
