I've been recommended the monogatari series by a friend and it really sounds like my kinda show (well-directed, good dialogue, actually funny comedy) How are you enjoying it though?
thing is, surprisingly lol, I've never read an actual comicbook or graphic novel from cover to cover
real life photographs incorporated into the animation
That sounds very artsy and I like it
honestly chick flick or not doesn't matter much, in this case. If there's another aspect of a show that I find fascinating then the plot doesn't matter. Some shows prioritize style over substance. anyway, it sounds like something I'd enjoy, (both nana and paradise kiss)
I think you'll enjoy Kill la Kill btw. It has an innovative art style as well, and outstanding animation. It's def style over substance, but the last episode nonetheless had me in tears lol (dw, not a spoiler) so it's not lacking in substance either.
from those I've only seen amelie, which I watched at 4am and ended up quitting halfway through from being drowsy lol. but I'll give it another shot soon!
Some of my favorites are the graduate, scott pilgrim vs. the world, and vertigo. There's a lot more I used to love but it's been so long I should rewatch them to see if they still hold up :O

I checked out the OP and the artstyle is weird (in a good way ofc). I haven't seen nana either, is it any good?
