Hi, I'm Ion, I've loved watching anime since I was a kid. I mostly rate anime compared to others of its genre, so I don't necessarily think a comedy action and a political drama in the same rating are comparable, but comparing them is kinda futile as they go for completely different things. Dragon Ball and Pokémon are basically the series that defined my taste, so I tend to be pretty biased towards them. I just drop anime I find awful and that would probably get a lower score if I finished them, but I'm more prone to drop manga because of less investment in them and because they consume more time. I never delete comments so feel free to leave whatever you want.
1: An anime that I not only found effectively without redeeming aspects, but that I outright hated and/or felt insulted by on a personal level
2: A really bad anime with only minimal redeeming aspects, being so bad that I'm unable to take it seriously and/or be engaged to it on any level
3: A bad anime with major flaws that, unlike a 2, actually manages to make me feel engaged and/or take it seriously on some level, so I can at least respect they tried
4: An averagely bad anime, it can have good scenes and/or ideas, but I ultimately failed to find it good, and in many cases they're plain boring.
5: An average anime that while it may leave a positive impression it still has very clear negative parts and/or bores me despite me not finding it actually bad, or one I'm so conflicted about I'm not sure what to think of it
6: An averagely good anime, an anime that I actually found to qualify as properly good, in which I engaged enough to truly like it, but that I still didn't find outstanding
7: A good anime that I truly enjoyed, not only achieving me considering them good but also outstanding in some way, being considerably above a 6 but still not masterful enough to be a 8
8: A really good anime that excels masterfully in a couple of aspects, being extremely good in quality and getting me to truly engage to the deepest level with it. These can be considered honorary mentions to my favorite anime
9: A really good anime with only minimal flaws, or at least not any flaws I feel are worth considering for what it aimed to do, with practically everything about them being of a masterful quality. These can be considered the lower part of my favorite anime
10: An anime that I found practically perfect, going above and beyond at everything it tried, these anime are such great constructed works of art that I find them fitting of the title of masterpiece. These can be considered the upper part of my favorite anime
"he doesn’t even look like an adult? If you showed me his design with no context, I’d say he’s 15, and even watching the show he acts just like I’d expect an anime teen to do it."
Even if you applied realism to a SUPERNATURAL show, a lot of adults don't look like their age and many can have fun in thier lifes so your "argument" makes no sense. How do you expect how an adult character act? Being miserable like Akira was at the beggining? lol
Yea I was informed. Slop Leveling isn't even close to top 10 in weekly Nicolive ratings. Hell, it's consistently near the bottom, if anything, meanwhile Medalist and Red Sentai Isekai are consistently in top 10.
True, this is why I've hated how easily shows like Slop Leveling get greenlighted. They cater so easily to the larger amount of mainstream fans overseas and hence more incentive business-wise to make more seasons of this dogshit. Then again, manhwas getting greenlighted for anime adaptations was a mistake to begin with.
Solo Leveling episode last weekend made me wonder if we’re ever gonna get that Lycoris Recoil s2 any time soon unless the production line suddenly collapses (probably won’t).
Wow, there's a Power Rangers isekai this season. Haven't seen that before. Wagecuck romcom warrants a crying emoji. That's interesting that the elfblob one goes back and forth between the two worlds, as I saw that on the list but figure it was pure reverse isekai. Feels like a very retro isekai/reverse isekai in that sense, as I don't see hopping between both worlds much anymore. Sounds like it would be better as a video game, tbh. :\
I want to say I watched Inuyashiki when it aired, so I don't remember it too well. But, yeah, justified, if not all that great, CGI.
So is the Bind series holding up as your favorite this season? That and the Okinawan one are the only ones I'm thinking of trying still. It's kind of nice having an uneventful season to get caught up on older titles. :P
Bahaha. Yes, Inuyashiki is a pretty ridiculous look at the generational gap. I recall it being pretty funny, perhaps unintentionally, even outside of the Donald Trump meme. XD
bro tryna be different so bad lmao
Monster 1/10 "incoherent ... villain"
Your Name 1/10 "Makoto Shinkai is a terrible writer"
AOT Final Season 1/10- (Im the biggest aot hater but 1/10 is just obviously inaccurate)
All your ratings are written under the guise of how well written/composed the show is but at the end of the day more than half of these are just ragebait/trying to be different
Maybe the Gilgamesh anime would work for your In Name Only list? The manga is from the 1970s and doesn't seem very similar at all. The aesthetic and atmosphere are completely different.
I've looked at the seasonal list a few times and totally overlooked that one from Bind. The cover is one of those generic cast compositions that doesn't really stand out and this is the most down to earth thing they've done. Not so sure I'd be into it, but it looks a lot better than I'd think from the cover. I might end up trying it because of Bind, though. I'll at least try UB for the same reasons, and I prob would have already checked the manga if not for the promise of it being adapted that's been in the air for a while. Not interested in the Crappa series with the girl who has hair covering her face? :P
I don't know enough about Akasaka and doubt I'll ever watch/read OnK or Kaguya, but it seems like his series get pretty lavish upgrades when it comes to adaptations. Do you think any of the new series are good/going to be this season?
I don't think Devilman: Crybaby really belongs to the "In Name Only" collection. It's just remade into contemporary setting, but it includes all the major plot points of the original manga. And Devilman Lady is adaptation of the Devilman Lady manga, authored by Nagai Go, so that's literally just a regular spin-off stuff.
Your stack starts interesting but quickly devolves into "I don't like when remakes or spin-offs change *anything* from the first entry", despite that being the point of remakes and spin-offs.
