I am not the biggest fan of bread, but sauces are great; BBQ sauce is one of my favorites, and I am a bit curious about Ranch dressing and what it tastes since it seems to be very popular in the US.
I like small grills, they seem very comfortable and have a great size to take them anywhere; maybe I will get one someday.
Indeed, they were useful, but the change to reusable bags wasn´t something so traumatizing hahaha. I only feel bad for the people who used to work helping people fill their bags in the supermarket; some of them tried to keep helping people who used cotton bags, but that work died pretty quickly.
I love how One Piece remastered their recap special episodes; it is nice to see newer designs of past scenes, though the original -I Want to Live- is still legendary, and the remastered version was a great second-to-best.
I've been spending a lot of time watching anime on Netflix, and I am thinking of watching One Piece at some point.
I haven´t read that much of Urasawa's work, though after reading 20th Century Boys and finishing watching Monster I realized he spent a lot of time developing things until the big reveal; in manga works better than in animation, though. Still, I consider Monster a great anime, and I understand why it is one of the best-rated anime/manga ever.
Tell me your opinion of Maginzer if you decide to watch; I am curious about people's opinions on older anime/manga.
I remember Shiori gave Tessaiga the red color, but one of the twins gave it a newer power-up; I think it was fire-related and only happened once in the manga.
After thinking for a while, Tessaiga is one of the greatest weapons in anime.
I don´t watch many Donghua to be honest; I think one of the few I have watched that I enjoyed quite a lot was Frankenstein Family. That was a pretty nice and sweet story; it was also very original and had a great ending song.
I will try to give Meng Qi Shi Shen - Cinderella Chef a chance since it looks like it has a lot of potential, as well as a neat soundtrack.
I think you are right; talking is the best we can do, and if nothing fructitous comes out, then deleting someone is the best way to keep oneself mental health.
I like receiving anime and manga recommendations, but when the recommender asks you your opinion about it is a bit hard to say you didn't particularly like it.
At the end of the day, I respect if it is one of your favorite anime series ever, but it didn't have the same effect on me.
I wonder what would have happened to the family if they confessed to the world they had a time-traveling tree at home hahaha.
You know, I've been thinking that would have been a great movie plot; Naraku learns that Kagome is from the future, he decides to force his way into the present age, and Inuyasha's gang has to travel to the future to stop the invasion. It kind of reminds me of Digimon hahaha.
If I am being completely honest, I am not sure if newer fans notice the backgrounds and how they change; personally, I don´t notice it unless it is very evident the background characters are static, badly drawn, repeat themselves, or if everyone looks the same. With Digimon, for instance, I still remember how the final scene of the first anime series DigiDestined, and their Digimon partner's sequences are repeated in the same way until the end. I just realized that as an adult, mainly since as a kid I just felt overwhelmed when everyone said their goodbyes; I still get a bit teary with that scene, to be honest, hahaha. Back to the topic, I feel the attention to those details doesn´t depend if one is just starting to watch anime or has been watching for years, but is something that one starts realizing after a while; it is a process, we all get there at some point, especially if we get invested in an anime, or anime in general. Personally, that was my case, I didn´t realize bad designs, static sequences, or other aspects, I just cared about whether I was enjoying the story or not; after a while, I started to realize how some anime has such mindblowing animation and art, and how different they can be from others. Finally, regarding CGI, it depends a lot on whether it is a good CGI or one that is just plainly awful that even newbies can notice.
I hope I answered right hahaha.
Maybe some collaborations are meant to show that other countries can also produce high-quality animation; I mean, the US did a great job animating Boondocks and Avatar: The Last Airbender, so maybe, in a way, everyone wants to show their talent.
Honestly, I am enjoying Urusei Yatsura way more than I initially expected; one of the latest episodes was so emotional and displayed such a huge character development for the girl-obsessed main character, that I actually felt moved by a story that previously only made me laugh.
I am interested to see what a Ranma 1/2 remake can make; I hope it can happen someday.
The other day I saw Netflix added Zom 100 to its list; I am having a very delusional and childish hope that maybe Netflix can give more seasons for different anime hahaha.
Now that AOT is over, I hope MAPPA gives more details about Zombieland Saga; I remember thinking the anime was adapted from a manga, and I was pretty shocked when I saw the manga appeared after the anime.
A small change of plans; I decided to give 4 Knights of the Apocalypse, from the same author of Nanatsu no Taizai, a chance since I noticed it was receiving a lot of praise on social media. I am currently liking it so much! I love that there isn´t as much Ecchi as in NNT, plus the MC isn´t a nasty pervert like Meliodas.
I can notice that; I love how much development Urasawa gives to his characters, even to the ones that appear once or twice. I remember when Tenma was in that forest and that man there talked about how the birds were finally coming back; that was a fantastical metaphor to stop Tenma from killing Johan.
Hahaha, I know, I tried to use the nicest words; Fairy Tail was one of the first anime I watched, and even though it can be a bit nasty, to say it nicely again, the plot, the fights, and the designs clearly shows how talented Mashima is.
Antique designs are appealing, and I heard somewhere that the vintage design is getting popular again hahaha. Tell me more about Macross once you get settled into the large franchise hahaha.
Absolutely, anime is not all about guts and bloody battles; there are so many more layers that can impact viewers in just one episode.
Someone with so much confidence in himself such as Legato is not that uncommon, but is a villain archetype worth seeing, especially because we saw what he is capable of; I feel he will give Vash hell in the next season.
I understand, I also tend to get passionate when is about a manga I am enjoying a lot; at some point, it feels like a connection starts between you and the manga hahaha.
Oh, if you are saying to me they have experience then I kind of get contradicting feelings hahaha; I mean, I understand if fans get disappointed when their favorite manga gets adapted by a popular studio and the final result is appalling. I honestly feel that is kind of sad for everyone, fans and workers alike.
That makes me wonder if the sales of The Promised Neverland increased after the second season ended.
This season I feel I will be safe as well since the anime I am choosing to watch this season doesn´t look bad, or indecent, at all.
In that case, I seriously recommend you to watch Haikyuu hahaha; it is one of the best sports anime, and it makes you attached to almost every character that appears there. Back to the topic, aside from that episode getting animated by another studio that didn´t do an adequate job, I am not sure which studio was it; there was material, but the quality or abilities of the studio didn´t shine at all.
Well, I have heard Disney's shows, and some of its movies, haven´t been receiving that well lately, so I understand why they opted to advertise their own products and not the ones they acquire. Still, while I understand Disney is a huge platform, I hope studios realize their works will not be properly promoted on Disney, especially since the company doesn´t have any interest in what they don´t produce.
I am not going to lie, the first episode of Undead Unluck didn´t go well with me due to certain topics and scenes, but I was sold from the second episode onwards. I gave a try to the manga while the anime was still airing, and it was superb; I reached the longest arc and I swear I was almost in tears.
Indeed, that is the reason why I never try to complain about what my nephews watch; sometimes they watch some of the most annoying kids' shows or an annoying Youtuber, but I just cannot complain in front of them.
Don´t take it wrong, but I hate to admit that I think you are right; I am biased towards Hoshiai no Sora, especially because it was the reason I made a MAL account hahaha, but while having some interesting plot points, character dynamics, and soundtrack, maybe the studio saw something that wouldn´t have been appealing for marketing. Not wanting to take financial risk is understandable; I hate there will never be a sequel, but I can understand the studio didn´t risk a second part for an anime that maybe went under the radar.
So, China advertises this series abroad? They truly had a lot of faith in King's Avatar, what do you mean they heard the fan community? Like, in the sense of what to keep or what to emphasize? I just look at King's Avatar stats and it seems quite intriguing.
I don´t think I have seen, knowingly, much Chinese anime aside from Frankenstein Family, but I do know there are several names out there, and that they look quite appealing.
You know, now that you reminded me of how Zom 100 depicted Japan's "Black companies" and harsh work environment, made me remember MAPPA's announcement of an anime about the life of an animator, which I honestly surprised me quite a lot; I read the news received quite some backlash from viewers.
Don´t worry, I understand your point and it was spot on; most people are indeed basically slaved in their work fields over harassment and abuse. The number of people in my country that has died at work is quite big, and people are still defending the employers and blaming the victims; I still remember a girl telling how her dad was a doctor who was forced to retire from work after 4 heart attacks.
"Knowledge is the only thing that grows by sharing with others." that was deep as hell, I honestly feel very moved by it, was that a quote from a book or someone?
I remember a bit about Medea's history, but I recall how people classify her as a sympathetic villain; like, some of her actions have a justification, while others are indefensible. Kind of like Medusa, who after some study and research people are starting to see as a victim of man and gods alike.
If Faith arrives on Netflix I'll give it a chance; but as of now I am kind of busy and I don't have that much time to watch anime from my lists, which is unfortunate for me hahaha.
That is a good point; you can have the materials, tools, and money to develop an anime, as at as hurtful as it may sound, if you don´t have the talent to develop it then there is nothing to be done and nothing to expect from the final product.
Sorry, I don´t like trashing other people's favorite movies, but sadly Bakemono no Ko wasn´t for me; I don´t see myself watching it a second time by any means, and while I still have some more issues with it, I cannot discredit the good points I mentioned it before.
I understand your method to score Bakemono no Ko, and it reminds me a bit of the way a very nasty teacher used to score the tests back in high school; she was the worst. Back to the topic, while I am good at math, I don´t see myself using your method this time hahaha.
Indeed, watching how something you create becomes successful has to be one of the greatest feelings ever; I think that is something we all want to achieve at some point.
Don´t worry, I don´t mind it all; I even like it since it also helps me to recall details I may have forgotten I wrote.
I must say I am so sorry for taking this much time to reply; March was a hectic month for me, starting with the death of my dear cat. She was my baby, and I have missed her every day. Also, my computer was malfunctioning and I sent it to get fixed, so I was using an older one that was even worse to keep a bit connected hahaha.
I hope you are doing fine :)
I swear for a moment I read it all wrong, and I thought you said you used cotton bags that had shampoo inside hahaha; here we do the same, or at least most people are trying to do the same, we used cotton bags when we go to the supermarket to carry stuff to the car, or at least we use some plastic ones that are meant to reusable for how strong they are. I don´t think supermarkets give plastic bags to buyers anymore.
It has been a long time since I last saw that special, but I don´t think it was a spin-off; a spin-off would have been another series centered on Usopp and Brook, and this was a recapitulation OVA.
I know! I don´t know why, but it makes me so excited to think about how cool that must have been; I am sure those OVA must cost the two eyes of the face as well as another organ hahaha.
Sorry, but are we talking about Oda's Monster or Urasawa´s Monster? I was talking about Urasawa's Monster, which I finished a week ago; and, I must say, I wasn´t completely sold. I think this will be a bit polarizing, but I went into the anime expecting to see the most amazing villain ever, and while he was intelligent and thought way ahead of time, he was barely there to see him doing anything. I loved Kenma and his group a lot though, and Eva has one of the most impressive character development ever.
I know, Mazinger Z feels like a must in my book; I watched some episodes when a channel in my country aired it, and I know some of the things that happened there, but I still to properly finish the first anime, as well as I want to see a relatively newer movie that served as a sequel to the anime.
Hahaha, it was thanks to your analysis the last time we talked.
Now that I think about it, the part with those twins fighting actually happened in Inuyasha; though I haven´t watched Kanketsu-hen, so I don´t know if they appear there. Most that I know, is that one of the twins gave Inuyasha another power up with his sword.
That was an utterly beautiful song! What is the name of it? I want to search for it later on. I noticed the name of the anime, but not the one of the most; I think I am going to watch that anime, it looks like quite an appealing series.
I still do not feel that sure about removing others from my list, though I want to do that sometimes; I have talked with two persons who weren´t nice, one who was a pretentious jerk who constantly said I wasn´t a real anime viewer for not watching certain anime and another one who was truly disturbing to talk with.
I mean, I loved Gintama from beginning to end; the soundtrack was great, the characters loveable and with great chemistry with one another, the comedy was gold, and the fights were perfect. I understood why that person recommended me to watch SKET Dance, but it was annoying to finish; most of the characters were irritating, MC was looked down on way too often, the soundtrack wasn´t good at all, the only good OST was repeated in almost every episode, the president of the student council was a narcissist, and the arc of the school trip to a mountain was a bit uncomfortable.
I heard the anime adapted the manga faithfully until the end; nevertheless, I also read that the anime wasn´t that popular when it first aired and the sales in the manga didn´t face any change. Hence, a season 2 is very unlikely.
I mean, in the anime it was stated that Kagome's family lied that she was in bed with several unknown diseases, but since the anime was a lot of filler I don´t know if that same thing happened in the manga.
I see, I remember now that Kagome had the Shikon pearl from the very beginning, and she also had shards of the pearl when traveling back and forth since she was the one taking care of them; I don´t remember how Inuyasha traveled as well, he just appeared out of nowhere in Kagome's time hahaha. The others going into Kagome's world would have been so funny; I feel them traveling to the future world to fight against an enemy there would have been great.
I mean, it is true that the value of something varies from person to person, so even some of the most hated anime, manga, series, movies, or characters can be unironically loved by someone. Following the example of Ghost in Shell, which I know has quite some different adaptations, Digimon can also fall into that category, especially since older viewers complain the remake of Digimon Adventure was horrible, while newer ones claim it was decently good.
Honestly, I am having some issues with Hunter x Hunter 1999 and 2011; on one hand, I like how faithful the 2011 version is, and honestly, the Chimera Ant arc is living up to its reputation right from the beginning. Still, and maybe I am saying this out of nostalgia since I was a kid when I watched reruns of HxH 1999, the art, the atmosphere, and the character designs are so splendid; the color palette in the 1999 version is so serious, and somber, and everything feels a bit more real. Yet, I am thankful for 2011 to show what happened after Greed Island since I always wanted to know what happened when Gon and Killua used the card to reach "Ging".
I must say the Scott Pilgrim anime was quite entertaining; one aspect that seriously had me thinking is how many times Ramona bleached her hair without losing it hahaha. The other day I saw there was a collaboration between Japan, Canada, and Argentina for an anime called Cybersix, which lowkey caught my attention.
The other day I saw an article about growing speculations of a Ranma 1/2 remake due to an animation that appeared on the Internet; after reading the article I realized I let my hopes too high thanks to fake news.
I hope Zom 100 receives a second season someday since that story has a lot of potential; moreover, now that AoT and JJK season 2 are over, I hope MAPPA gives more love to Jigokuraku and announces the trailer for the movie of Zombieland Saga.
The Promised Neverland manga isn´t that long, so I think I will give it a shot one of these days, and I will try to read as many chapters as possible before reaching the second season of the anime.
I also like it when characters look different from one another since that shows more of the abilities of the author; I guess that is a reason why Urasawa is stated to be one of the best authors considering how varied the roster of his characters are. I think he reuses some of them. Another author who I think does a very good job by using different designs is Hiro Mashima; the quality of his manga varied from awesomely good to unwatchable, but his designs are perfect.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn´t Macross like a very wide and long franchise?
I am glad I gave Summer Ghost a chance; I agree with you that it was a story that made me remember why I love anime and manga.
Tell me what you think after re-reading the Trigun manga again; I just watched the Stampede remake, but I read in the comment sections of the episode how no anime adaptation has been completely loyal.
So the reason why the villain gives Vash those coins is because Legato thinks he is overpowered and even with his weakness out there no one would be able to defeat him; very interesting, I like a villain who thinks of himself so high, it makes their fall more rewarding and satisfying.
Don´t worry about it, I value your opinion a lot; especially since it is about a territory I am not familiar with.
Oh no, not to the level of Hametsu no Mars; that is really setting the idea of how bad it was. It sucks to hear how bad the 2016 adaptation of Berserk truly was regarding the art, especially since that is one of the most important aspects of anime and manga.
Exactly, from a first-person perspective, we don´t know anything about what is happening elsewhere; that is why I am not a fan of that angle not even in books. That made me remember the Hunger Games books which were completely written in first-person, so most of the movies are actually not canon.
Don´t worry, the moment I watch the anime of Berserk I promise I will give my honest opinion.
That made me remember that game Megaman X7; usually, Megaman games are mostly linear, hence you have to complete a linear route, or jump high or go down, to reach the boss level and defeat it. With X7 the developers wanted to incorporate a 3D thematic that didn´t work at all; the Megaman X franchise has been very criticized, but most games receive positive praise, while X7 received praise for trying to do something unorthodox, but was heavily criticized for being below any past game from the franchise. Back to the topic, the above made me realize how similar the scenarios were since X7 and Berserk 2016 were produced trying to do something never done before and didn´t fulfill anyone's expectations. I feel in both cases producers tried to do something different, everyone waited for things to happen, but there was no feedback while developing things to change what wasn´t working in order to have a good product.
I know this isn´t the same case, but I heard something similar regarding the adaptation of Ex-arm; the manga was good, the story was amazing, but the studio wanted to experiment with the animation by making it a combination of 2D and 3D, which made the adaptation reach one of the lowest ranks ever. Moreover, since there were quite some years between both adaptations in the case of Berserk, I feel the studio just wanted to experiment; I know it sounds bad, but so far that's what I think. Even more, there is no such thing as bad publicity, so even in the slightest, maybe it raised the interest of some viewers.
I hope you like it; the opening song is superb, the characters keep being true to themselves, and there is more mystery, but the main antagonists were way too unlikeable. They weren´t the type who you enjoy seeing, but more like the type you want to see defeated at any cost.
Honestly, I think I've been lucky this time since I have avoided most anime that can be way too indecent; I am watching Ishura, but aside from a certain scene, there hasn´t been too much eroticism.
Don´t worry, I don´t feel offended; I usually just stick with the anime I watch, and I don´t tend to go that much deeper into studios and the way they work. I am aware there are collaborations between restaurants, onsen's, and gaming centers with popular anime series, so I do see how they would lose profit if they decide to collaborate with something that doesn´t have a good future ahead or that wasn´t popular enough to sell specific products made after them.
I can see that as well, and that is the part I am more aware of; studios depend on everything you said, animators, directors, composers, voice actors, and more, and when one of them leaves or is engaged with more than one project, which doesn´t stop the original one and the show must go on no matter what at the end of the day. Moreover, I know this may sound bad, but the talent of studios sometimes can vary way too much; Haikyuu may not have one of the greatest animations in the anime industry, but one of the episodes on the latest season was so bad, like utterly awful hahaha; I heard it was because the studio sends that episode to be animated by another studio, but that needed to be almost entirely corrected in Blu-ray edition.
Yeah, marketing is a must to promote an anime, even manga, and manhwa these days are receiving animated videos with VA and everything to try and earn as many readers as possible; you know, I read the other day that one platform that has been ruining anime adaptations these days is Disney. Apparently, every anime that arrives at Disney doesn´t receive any promotion and is just there without people watching them; for instance, people are saying that is Disney's fault Undead Unluck didn't receive much marketing to promote the animation, which makes the second season unlikely to happen, which I hope turns out to be false since that is a wonderful series.
I am not going to lie, I never heard about Bamboo Blade before, maybe I´ll check about it later on.
Herculean task truly defines how difficult producing an anime has to be. It was funny to see Yu-Gi-Oh there because I still remember how popular that card game was; I bought quite some decks myself because I was attracted to them hahaha. Then, like with Pokemon, some people started saying how those were devilish beings and it was tiresome to hear complaints.
I don´t know why, but I have quite some hate towards the production committee now; I blame them for canceling the 24 episodes of Hoshiai no Sora and reducing the episodes to 12. That anime was gold, and even when it had issues it was still gold.
Damn, anime productions truly spent more money than one may think; I understand why studio goes out of their way to promote their series, but the addition of possible problems surely may be a hindrance depending on what the problem was. I wonder how much money the studio of Zom 100 needed to use when the anime suffered so many delays to the point that the final four episodes were released on the same day. Taking the time lot of another anime means a studio needed to pay another studio, the channel, and who knows who else to have that spot available.
Don´t worry about it, I seriously appreciate your time to answer and how detailed and easy to understand it was; thanks a lot for taking the time to explain things to me C:
Exactly, one or two problems with not make me stop loving something that makes me as of now or made me happy in the past; at the end of the day, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I said this once and I'll say it again, characters from Greek mythology are quite interesting to see; I wish in school we learned a bit more about them, but after learning about them by myself I realized why they aren´t suitable for teaching. I was aware of Rider being Medusa, but I tend to forget who is the character who represents Caster; is weird how Caster looks so mysterious and terrifying with her face covered, but when she shows her face she is one of the most beautiful characters ever.
I know, but every day I learn how big the universe of Faith is, and how many movies and upcoming series are connected to it as well.
I see, it is a pity that studios produce so few frames, but there is nothing else to do; I don´t know why, but I remembered this scene from the 80s version of Voltron, the video title is "Ooh! Tammy! Ugh Ugh! Mother! Don't leave me!" and it was funny due to several aspects, such as the lack of feelings from the VA, the crowd running on the background which was the same person all over again with the addition of women dressed like Daphne from Scooby-doo from time to time, and again that bad VA hahaha. Back to the topic, while I can understand studios avoiding the use of more frames when they don´t have the budget for it, if they decide to adapt something that requires a lot of movement such as a fighting anime then they should do more frames; is like doing a sports anime where nobody runs or moves at all.
The one movie I gave a passing mark, despite not liking it, was Bakemono no Ko; it had a great soundtrack, nice art, and interesting characters, but it was a disappointment. It felt like the movie was rushed, and some plots, such as the main villain, didn´t feel complete. Plus, I didn´t like the ending, but that is another issue. I am not judging you at all with your scoring system, since like I say we all have different tastes, but it is indeed hard sometimes to have a rational opinion avoiding personal feelings.
I agree that there are only a few who get rich from their work; for instance, Oda and his castle of a home. I remember he showed his house, and there were golden dragons, I think in the bathroom, and overall his house looked like a palace. Moreover, I now know about a popular VA called Ayane Sakura because she appeared in a Super Sentai show, Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, and everyone was shocked she returned again after appearing in an SS movie since she is very well known in the industry and her agenda is filled. With that being said, I am well aware of how stressful being a manga author is; especially considering how some popular works from the WSJ needed to be transferred to another magazine because the authors needed time off, time for their families, health issues, or more time to develop their work.
It sounds amazing that China initiated a trend to recruit people by displaying working conditions that should be there from the beginning and offering them shows how bad things are for everyone. Being an animator in Japan feels like a very hard decision, like choosing your passion but at the same time diving into a harsh work environment that doesn´t seem to improve anytime soon.
I'm still trying to pick songs for my wedding.
Thank you for your wish~!
Hope your start has been drama-free as well :)
I know, it is not normal how suddenly the weather changes from one day to the other. Lately, the heat has been increasing, which I hate because hot and sunny weather stresses me a lot.
It sucks to realize the amount of people who actually had the research and inventions to make the world a better place, but the big corporations know that would cost them money so is better to put stuff in a drawer. I don´t know how much is true, but I do believe is always either one of two: for projects to get put into a drawer, or for the developer to disappear.
I am not going to lie, and I think I mentioned before, but I really hate recap episodes, especially when those happen on 12 episodes of anime; what are you going to miss from ep 1 to ep 6 that you need a recap? With that being said, I consider recap episodes as OVAs to be kind of good and enjoyable; especially when done in the way One Piece did when Usopp told Brook who the Going Merry was was brilliant. Moreover, as you say, the different and reworked art helped a lot.
I am aware the first anime adaptation of Ginga Eiyu Densetsu aired as OVAs and there were a lot, as well as how some of them felt like stretching; interestingly, those OVAs were delivered through the mail and the buyers received a copy of the episodes one by one, which I consider something very vintage and amazing. I am currently watching Monster from my PTW list, but I am very eager to watch the remake of Ginga Eiyu Densetsu because I heard the work of Sawano Shiroyuki and it was marvelous.
I agree with you, their small dialogues fit them perfectly well, and Kagome was truly a good role model for people not to let others walk all over them, and to question themselves if there are doubts. I just remembered Maginzer Z and how it broke the canon of not having a heroic and noble male lead, as well as having a female lead who didn´t give a damn and talked back to whatever she was disrespected.
With what you are saying, it is possible to say Naraku held the worst aspects of being a human before becoming a demon; in the end, he became one of the most ruthless villains ever made, which again makes you right in that he was a perfect villain. Power indeed corrupts.
Hanyou no Yashahime was half story and half filler, part of the filler could have been omitted and used for something more significant in order to improve the series. The pressure to produce something like Inuyasha may have been pretty high, but it sucks there wasn´t even a good arc, there were enjoyable episodes but nothing prolonged for more than a single episode. Hence, I agree that maybe some good ideas or possible plots would have been wasted even if produced. It was nice to see Inuyasha, Kagome, and the team once again, but that wasn´t enough to have a nice sequel. At the end of the day, is hard to have
Is weird when a longer anime doesn´t have many good songs throughout its run; I still remember how disappointing the music of Daiya no Ace was. There were some bangers but at the same time some disappointing ones.
You know, sometimes there are amazing covers of anime songs; for instance, the Russian covers of One Piece opening 16 and Clockwork Planet opening. Is there a cover that you heard and liked it?
For new anime viewers, it could have worked until they chose to go back and watch the first two series; for older viewers, it wasn´t a good decision. Still, as I said before, it was nice to see him trying to act like the bad guy again.
Tell me about it; I haven´t had bad luck here in forums, but a person I added started attacking me for not watching some older anime like Monster and SKET Dance. I gave the latter a chance, and it was an utter disappointment.
I think the time in the world works relatively the same since Kagome spent weeks and months in the past era and when returning to her world the time was trasnpired the same. Although I think in the anime Kagome time jumped more times than in the manga, so I may be wrong. I don´t think Rin could have gone to the future, somehow only Inuyasha and Kagome were able to do it, otherwise, the rest of the group would have gone with them at some point since they all expressed interest in Kagome´s world.
I swear I am surprised by this piece of information; it's kind of interesting to see how many countries worked together to produce an anime. Was it good?
Of all the names you mentioned, I only recognized Heidi because it is truly an old work of animation; I think even my mom saw it when she was a kid hahaha. Though now that you put it in perspective, it isn´t something that weird considering how the US and Japan collaborate in the anime of Scott Pilgrim.
Don´t worry, that was very interesting to learn about; I think I am going to check into other collaborations between countries.
I feel it is too late for Ranma's 1/2 finale to air alone, is not like Bleach which aired the final arc just some years after the first anime ended. As of now, I feel is more possible to see a remake rather than a continuation.
Wasn´t that the same case as with FMA and FMAB? Both anime adaptations aired and ended before the manga; yet, since Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul: re ended already, maybe a Brotherhood treatment is not that possible as of now.
Talking about zombies, I like how different the many adaptations of zombie anime have been; Gakkou Gurashi worked with mental health, Zom 100 was a comedy, Zombie Land Saga was a music anime, and let's say Highschool of the Death was an adventure-romance story.
I have always heard how butchered the second season of Yakusoku no Neverland was, and is always interesting to hear new perspectives from the fans; as far as I know, the manga was wonderful, the first season was a masterpiece for everyone, and the second season omitted everything while also adding original scenes that didn´t help that much. One of the comments I always read, in regards to what ruined the season, was when the kids entered a room and there wasn´t anyone there when in the manga a man was sitting. I am going to watch the anime and read the manga someday, I really want to see what went down with all that; as far as I know, the studio messed things up to a point of no return.
Something I always find remarkable is when anime and manga characters don´t have the same face but with different hair colors, eye colors, and things like that; it hurt me when on Instagram someone made a comparison with Haikyuu characters hahaha. It´s amazing how much they experiment without any fear.
I honestly hoped for a second that Ryou made it out alive of his disease, but the moment I saw the three of them playing with the fireworks I realized it was over. I know it was a supernatural story, but I love how real it felt; in the end, there wasn´t a happy ending, just two people who kept on living, a deceased girl whose body was finally found, and a young boy who passed away while still being able to see his friends.
Yeah, is common for authors to have different styles, which sometimes makes things harder for an anime adaptation to work, especially since fans want to see a perfect transition of the art to the anime. So, Legato gave each member of the villains half a coin, he gave a box to Vash to gather the coins whose function was to suppress his powers, which I remember from the anime were quite omnipotent; why did he do that? That doesn´t make any sense, why would you give your enemy such an advantage to kill you? No coin was mentioned in either anime adaptation; as I said, I heard neither adaptation was faithful to the manga. Moreover, with what you are saying about the manga starting rather fast it confirms the Trigun Stampede was a bit more similar in nature. Maybe the coins were omitted to make Vash seem stronger than Legato.
I see, so the first anime series ended on some sort of cliffhanger; I remember watching a clip of a big group getting killed in mass.
I didn´t know there were movie adaptations of the 1997 anime adaptation, how were they?
I completely understand now, so the 2016-2017 anime adaptations of Berserk were a sequel, or at least some sort of continuation, of the 1997 Berserk.
My previous question about the movie was answered with the -is up to you- part hahaha. So, my final question regarding the CGI Berserk failure is going to be, was at least funny bad or just plainly bad?
I am not going to lie, if what I learned in school about angles is right, then I feel is weird to have an anime completely made in first person; isn´t that the one where the camera is like recording from your eyes? I need to watch Berserk 2016, so for our next conversation, I will see some angles from that anime. Most I know about angles are the usual "Focusing the face of the character who is about to have a mental breakdown" angle and the "Blurry background until a character walks in front and the background is visible" angle.
I think I get what you are saying, and it does sound very weird in perspective; I understand what you mean about it being weird and having weird close-ups that focus on unnecessary details or hide characters who are talking, but how do you record those bad angles not noticing how bad they are? I can only think they are somehow cheaper in a way.
I know this doesn´t have anything to do with it, but I still remember when that manga, XXXHolic, was animated and the limbs weren´t proportional to the bodies; it was so weird to look at. Back to the topic, in the way you are describing Berserk 2016, it seems like the studio didn´t care too much about the animation at all; kind of like thinking they were going to succeed by only having a good story they also butchered. What the hell were they thinking when they decided to animate it?
CGI is very tricky, and somehow it feels like the studio was trying to experiment with it by using a manga everybody loved more than anything; excuse my French, but it feels like they just fucked up.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners was truly a wonderful anime to finish in 2022; I still feel bad when remembering that sad ending. David, Lucy, Rebeca, and everyone deserved a happy ending, but in that city it was impossible.
I finished 2023 with Link Click season 2; I swear I hated that pink-haired boy so much. I feel empathy and pity for his twin sister, but not for him
And yet, most viewers hated the finale because of the ending. He saved his mother, he saved his classmates, he reunited with his friends, and in the end, he was able to fulfill his dream of becoming a manga artist. He had everything.
I agree with that; just because the love storyline didn´t happen doesn´t mean the story was bad or the score should be lower than expected.
I understand the business of manga and anime is very competitive, especially the manga one since your story may get shortened or canceled ahead of time; for instance, almost every manga that arrives at Shonen Jump gets axed for trying to build a plot instead of being a hit from the very beginning.
Still, and I know this may be unpopular, I think there is no necessity to go instantly edgy or sexualized to be popular; yet there are some stories that rely a lot on those aspects to keep their stories alive as much as possible.
So that anime´s name was Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi; I saw scenes and that cover in many places, but the name was never there for some reason, or it was in another language with a completely different writing system. I am going to check what it is about.
You are right, I would not believe you; where did you read that? I feel it is unfair somehow; criticizing anime is like criticizing food, we don´t have the same tastes. If you can elaborate more I would thank you.
Don´t worry about it, flaws or problems can be very accurate words to talk about anime or franchises. I Love Haikyuu, Free, Digimon, and Bungo Stray Dogs, but I would lie if I said they didn´t have issues that if were solved could have made things way better.
Interesting approach, there were some things that I was aware of, such as most of the adaptations being different routes in the visual novel, as well as Rider never being the focus or getting instantly killed. Honestly, I liked Rider and Caster's designs a lot; they look so cool, though I am still a bit on the fence with gender-bending figures such as King Arthur and Jack the Ripper, especially when I remember the Fate series during its beginnings was basically porn. Is funny to hear Shiro was stupid, I don´t know why but I laughed a lot hahaha. I saved on Instagram a short video with Shiro cutting the arm of Gilgamesh, and the animation was quite stunning. I kind of want to watch the Fate series, but I am not very sure since there are like 100 movies and anime seasons and I may not have the time.
I consider animation the way in which characters move, which is more evident in fighting; for instance, Hinata in a Naruto Shippuden filler was done dirty, I saw the first season of Record of Ragnarok used what looked like PPT transitions which were a disappointment, or when the characters move weirdly when running. In design, I consider the art itself, and if the draws change too much, like when the face of the characters distorts and looks like someone else; for instance, the whole ova of Nakanohito Genome was a visual nightmare. Still, I can understand it can be hard to separate them into two categories, so leaving them together is the best option.
Exactly, though it is annoying not to understand what part of the anime didn´t click with you, resting points because of that is like being a hater, no offense.
I think not feeling a connection with it sounds immediately like you don´t like it, and several times I have finished anime I didn´t like because I felt an obligation; the funny part, is nobody forced me to finish them, and I feel like resting points because of that is unfair. Hence, I watched until the end and justified everything I hated.
I also feel very bad for Miura Kentaro; I read the first chapter of Berserk this year, and it was chaotically appealing. It´s sad he wasn´t able to finish his manga, but I hope he knew thousands of people loved his work.
Is sad to realize how detrimental is the health of several manga/manhwa authors; for instance, the authors of Nana, Vagabond, and Tower of God.
I'm getting married in June and moving into a new house, hopefully by the end of the year.
I hope 2024 brings you lots of love, laughter and joy <3
Happy New Year!!!
Honestly, all the people who want to make a change are shut down by big corporations; gasoline, petroleum, fossil fuels, and others are used and promoted by big companies, and when a person produces something that can improve the state of the world, they disappear, just like what happened with that man who designed a car that worked with water, and then he was poisoned with the blueprints of his creation disappearing.
Don´t worry at all; is nice when someone talks about the subjects that called their attention.
Exactly, as long as they are well written then fillers can be sometimes even more enjoyable than some canon arcs. I have never been into a school performance as well prepared as the one anime portrays, but I know how messy they can be hahaha.
Ugh, I share your view on that; recap episodes are annoying. I mean, sometimes they can be good, but not when is a seasonal anime with weekly episodes and you have to wait for two weeks for a new episode. I liked a Recap of One Piece Special that wasn´t part of the anime's weekly scheduled episodes, and it was enjoyable since several scenes were remastered and looked way better.
Yeah, in anime with only 12 or 13 episodes Recaps are completely useless, especially in simple stories. On another note, Ginga Eiyū Densetsu is an anime I want to watch; good to know the plot is complex. It sounds like a very deep series.
In a way, Inuyasha met another side of Kikyo thanks to Kagome; a harsher and volatile side of the more quiet and peaceful miko hahaha. Back to the topic, while I do feel sometimes it was annoying how everyone sided with Kagome, I like that she chose herself from time to time, especially when she felt mistreated.
I don´t know if that conversation was canon, or if it was added by the animation studio, but I am thankful for the person in charge of producing it; their conversations, not the regular arguing ones, were very endearing.
He had good moments, his interactions with the rest of the characters were always fluid, and he had a very interesting ability; unfortunately, he is too much a representative of the sexually harassing trope predominant since I think before the 80s.
I completely agree with your statement from beginning to end, all the characters around Naraku serve him not out of conviction, but out of fear. They all knew they were expendable and replaceable, cause even in his weaker states Naraku was ruthless. I wish there were more of Naraku´s incumbents who stayed for a bit longer alongside them, Kagura and Kanna saw perfectly well and lived in first person how awful he could be.
It would have been nice to see her talking with a member of the main trio and comparing Kirinmaru with Naraku; maybe she would have stated how Kirinmaru at least cared for his child. Or, she could have given Moroha information about her parents, as well as given answers to Towa and Setsuna´s questions. Yet, I am sure she would have been wasted potential.
I just noticed I wrote to while in the same sentence in one of the paragraphs you quoted; I hate so much when I do that, especially with simple grammatical structures. Back to the topic, I agree to disagree regarding Towa, she was annoying and understandable at the same time.
I agree with you entirely in that statement; music is one of the biggest factors of anime, and people tend to overlook it too much. Is easy to have a catchy opening or ending song, the real task is to create a suitable OST for specific scenes. I tend to enjoy most of the OSTs that have a nice and wholesome melody, but there are some OSTs with lyrics, such as Layers from Re: Creators, that are mesmerizing.
Yesss! That´s the song I was talking about; I love that opening song a lot. From beginning to end is a banger, and the imagery used there was very suitable.
Indeed, Sesshomaru needed to act sometimes as the bad guy since the villains in Yashahime left a lot to be desired. In a way it worked since he was so ambiguous everything he did could have been misinterpreted, but for older viewers, it was clear what he was doing.
Technically, while segregated by others, Inuyasha in a way had a more normal childhood than Sesshomaru. Were those forum members nice? Or were they the type who constantly thought they were right?
Honestly, Towa and Setsuna seemeed to me a bit older than Moroha. Sesshomaru and Rin´s relationship was weird, and messed up as well; mainly because of what you said regarding how Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha are so close in age. In the sequel, I think she was 18 at least, and although the series is set in a very different time, it doesn´t mean is not weird how Sesshomaru waited for her to become legally an adult. I am not going to lie, it feels like grooming.
Exactly, new anime fans use the current anime releases as a benchmark for how they judge future releases and finished series. Which I think is something we all think is set in stone, but tastes change after a while.
I agree with your view; animes back in the day didn´t have the advantages and improvements so many stories nowadays have. So judging animation from the 70s or 80s with anime from the past years can be unfair.
I am not going to lie, this is the first time I have heard about Vicky the Viking; the first images I saw on Google looked like something Nickelodeon would have aired hahaha.
While I agree it may not be perfect, I would to see the true ending of Ranma 1/2 animated. There are quite some anime that deserve a remake in my opinion, such as Tokyo Ghoul, and I heard The Promised Neverland was also butchered after a successful first season.
Thanks, is nice to hear that :)
I am not going to lie, I don´t know that much about animation studios, but I do recognize their works when visiting their MAL pages; I have watched Madoka Magica, 3gatsu no Lion, and Mekaku City Actors, and in my opinion, Studio Shaft style is simplistic in terms of characters, but breathtaking in serious moments.
Some days ago I started and finished Summer Ghost; it was a short movie, and it was beautiful and wholesome. I don´t tend to watch many anime movies, but this is one of the few instances where I wish a movie lasted longer; as sad as the ending was, I wouldn´t change a thing.
I also finished Zom 100 after a while; all those delays were utterly annoying, but I learned the studio was fairly new, and it sucked they faced so many problems. The animation for the final episode was majestic; I hope there will be a season 2 someday.
So, you read the manga of Trigun? How would you describe it? I know there were some coins that MC needed to use in the manga, but in the Trigun Stampede remake, they weren´t mentioned.
Didn´t the 1997 adaptation ended in some sort of bad ending? Like, with everyone dying?
I have some questions regarding the second anime of Berserk. For instance, Was the 2016 adaptation a sequel to the 1997 version? But, what I want to ask the most is how an anime that has a bad camera work? I mean, I can understand if movies have those issues, but how come an anime has those sorts of issues? Moreover, I absolutely understand CGI being a mess, most of the time what viewers expect when they hear of CGI is something bad; but I cannot fathom a camera angle being bad.
A manga that was very dark in comparison with its anime adaptation was Katekyo Hitman Reborn; I cannot forget how one of the happiest and bubblier characters in the story wanted to commit suicide at some point. The anime decided to decrease the amount of blood after the first serious arc was a bit too violent. Another example that comes to my head is Fairy Tail; there wasn´t any blood in the first anime season, which was something that always caught my attention; when I jumped to the manga sometimes it was a blood fest. Hence, I also think manga has the advantage of portraying darker and gorier scenes that cannot appear in anime which demographic isn´t specifically adults.
Oh, I see now hahaha; my mistake, I think I read too many subtitles that weren´t there hahaha.
Don´t worry, take your time and tell me afterward; the end of the year can be stressful in many different ways.
You know, right now I´ve been thinking about which anime I want to finish this year; last year I watched Cyberpunk Edgerunners the second to last week of December, and it was so good I decided to not watch any other anime until the 1rst of January hahaha.
I mean, Satoru had a happy ending; he was able to save his mother and a lot of people on his journey. Just because he didn´t end a relationship with the girl he was trying to save doesn´t mean he didn´t have a happy ending.
Increase is the right word; I just recall a Fairy Tail one-shot set in a stone world where every character from the main series was caveman, and it was so cringe and nasty even the author regretted writing it. That is an example of how trying to sexualize everything doesn´t lead to good results. Honestly, I don´t know where things are going, sometimes it feels like the trend is dying, some others it feels like it is increasing; it is something very unstable. Moreover, there are chances where adaptations try not to censor things, but to make them subtle, such as a scene in the anime adaptation of Dead Mount Death Play; while in the manga there was explicit sexual content between female characters, the anime made them more discreet.
Personally, I don´t feel sexualization, eroticism, and pointless bloodbaths are necessary.
Sometimes it is hard to give a score, to be honest; I loved the anime Overtake a lot, I think it was the uncommon perfect combination of drama and sport. But, for reasons I am unable to understand, I couldn´t give it a 10.
I am curious to know, which flaws did Fate/Stay Night have?
I feel rule number 2 should have another pillar for the scoring, and that is separating visuals into animation and art style. Animation scores how fluid the anime was, while visuals score the art style.
I think the anime Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi was rather popular, the fact Satoru didn´t end up in a relationship with Kayo was another topic. Still, I understand what you mean by resting points if there is something you didn´t like but weren´t able to explain why, but it is still a bit unfair and can lead to comments such as being a hater who wanted his favorite anime to be still topping the charts.
"The story was very well written and illustrated by the mangaka" That is honestly a very powerful statement that I completely share with you; the mangakaka did his part by creating an amazing story, and it doesn´t reflect on him or her whether the studio was able to adapt it properly or not. Trying to give points to a bad anime adaptation by using the story the Mangaka created is just trying to justify the studio that didn´t do good work; they already had a story and a setting they needed to replicate, they just didn´t.
I know this is arriving a bit late, but I want to wish you a Merry Christmas, and a very happy New Year; I hope you have a wonderful 2024.
