Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!

On hindsight, there are highlighted similarities on KyoAni's Chuunibyou: both are romcom, and both have Chuunibyou-characters with silly antics, and both have enough enthusiasm and comedy to go on about. Both also have Sumire Uesaka (Dekomori's seiyuu in Chuunibyou; Cole-chan on Kono Bijutsubu) even.

For those hungry for more normal-X-otaku kind of romcom, look no further.

Both have enjoyable characters (some suffering from Chuunibyou syndrome) and are in the romantic comedy/slice of life genre. The soundtracks are really cool as well. ^^
I think someone has mentioned this before, but I think Colette was inspired or similar to Dekomori. They even share the same seiyuu, or voice actress (Sumire Uesaka).
[Colette is known to hang out in lockers throughout Konobi, which I think is a reference to when Dekomori was stuck in one in Episode 3 of Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!?]

Slice-of-Life, School, and Drama. Well thought-out stories. Though Chuunibyou tend to lean toward the side of romance, and have more comedy. Both offer unique perspectives on growing up, and have done a virtually flawless job of it.

The main characters in both of these anime are extremely relatable, although in slightly different ways. Hikkigaya from Yahari hates his youth, and Yuuta hates his 8th grade youth. They both end up in a club they didn't want to join and are forced to face their "youth." They key reason why these two anime are so great is because of their relatability, comedy, and romance, so if you liked Chuunibyou, Yahari is a must-see.

Both of these series deal without likeable outcasts coming to terms with themselves and the world around them, Chuunibyou is a more romance focused series, whereas Yahari is more about the characters internal developments. 

Though if you enjoyed one, you will definitely enjoy the other!

Abhorrent the norm. Oregairu and Chuunibyou both follow protagonists who are against the normal structure of how the primetime of life should work.

Chuunibyou follows the abnormal Rikka in her quirky life of being a Chuunibyou. Whilst Oregairu follows cynical Hachiman helping others at the Volunteer Service Club. In these times, both MCs also are in check with their allocated partners, namely, Yukino and Yuuta.

Both anime are great s.o.l with Chuunibyou being a joyous comedy, whilst Oregairu is more of cynical thoughts on general standards.

Both involves a situation where both the guy and girl are classmates.

Dissimilarities:

The guy in one anime is the one who made the first move and is responsible for turning his own world upside down, while in the other anime it is the girl who come into the guy's life an turned the guy's life upside down.

The girl in one anime is receptive of the guy's prescience, while the girl in the other anime limits her receptiveness for the guy on limiting it to exchange of drool (puking).

The guy in one anime likes being with his weird girlfriend, while in the other anime the guy is trying to straighten up the girl.

The girl in one anime is a textbook definition of weird, while in the other anime the girl is a poster child for mysterious.    read more

Both of these anime deal with eccentric female leads involved in unconventional relationships.

Rikka and Urabe are very similar in persona. however whilst Rikka is withdrawn and introverted, Urabe is the complete opposite, she is fully aware of her peculiarities and has full confidence in herself as a result.

These anime are very similar in setting, genre and character design. What is different is the art, Chuunibyou doesn't have the same ecchi - but both anime are very sweet romance anime done right. 
 
Setting: Highschool 
Genre: Romance 
Female Protagonist: Is strange and mysterious, is also connected to the male love interest by some kind of bond.
Male Protagonist: Is a regular Japanese Highschool boy who falls in love with the female protagonist.

Very lighthearted and focused on comedy, with vibrant and heavily stylized artwork. The addition of a male protagonist gives Chuunibyou a slightly different feel, however, but fans of K-ON will find plenty to enjoy here.

Weird, abnormal, pretty girls, who have some fantasy images in their minds, and play it just for fun. It follows the main male character who was caught up in this situation where he was either experience one before, or was forced to join their club. Though, as time passes on, he join their antics and bond with the other club members.

Chuunibyou, follows a normal boy who have experience these "delusions" before and was joined by a female character. Some fantasy action scenes, and romance. D-Frag follows a delinquent boy, who was abducted and joined the club.

In a way both series are similar as the main female characters are unpopular and struggles to make friends due to their personalities. However, they do manage to make quite the attention at various points (sometimes for the wrong reasons).

Both series has A LOT of humor so prepare for some good laughs. Then, there's the school life environment in a lighthearted setting. Additionally, the main male protagonist from both series are considered normal but their interactions with the main girl often leads to awkwardness for the both of them.

An unpopular person wants to be normal and have friends, but ends up acting weird. In Chuunibyou, Yuuta gets friends through acting weird while Tomoko in WataMote is just a loner with horrible social skills and only one friend and her brother. Both Yuuta and Tomoko act "extreme" in their own ways when embarrassed.

A little girl who no have friends, because your terrible shyness and find refuge in your videogames. Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! or simply ''Watamote'' is a 12 episodes anime what turn around in Tomoko's life.

 She's very cute and short, but don't care about your aspect and can't make friends. Live in a house with your mother and your newest brother Tomoki and he's always in bad mood with same aspect from your sister. Tomoko have just one friend, Yu, a beauty girl with big boobs and excelent aspect and Tomoko have jealous, but the same time a love for her.

During all anime time, Tomoko try a lot of things to become a popular girl and pass for inumerous funny experiencies like your dreams when she's make reference sometimes for other animes characters and create inside in mind other world  but  in some parts, is possible see your sadness  and frustration in each failed effort. This anime is not a depressive and melancolic all time, but very funny in most part. I'm really recommend who loves laugh a lot! LOL read more

Watemote is the cringe version of Chuunibyou demo koi ga shitai. Or the other way around, whatever you please. If you want more chuunibyou cringe then I recommend watching watamote, if you want a bit more fluff with chuunibyou themes then watch Chuunibyou demo koi ga shitai.

An unusual girl. Watamote and Chuunibyou follow an unusual high school girl, who is unusual due to their actions and aura around them.

Though Chuunibyou follows a delusional chuunibyou Rikka and standard Yuuta to keep her in check. Tomoko acts as a fusion of both Rikka and Yuuta, retaining unusual qualities but being able to keep herself in check concurrently, doing so, due to a solitary lifestyle.

Both are great comedies with Chuunibyou being light-hearted with fantasy-like attributes, whilst Watamote plays with sexual humour, otaku behaviour and anime references.

Aiding the illuded. Chuunibyou and Bunny Girl Senpai both follow an MC who helps out someone who is suffering from some form of a disorder.

Chuunibyou's Yuuta is paired up with chuunibyou Rikka in a memorable journey on her quest to reach the ethereal horizon. Bunny Girl Senpai's Sakuta made to help out multiple heroines with social problems in the form of 'Puberty Syndrome'.

Both anime are great rom-coms dealing with how different people deal with social/personal problems.

If you enjoyed the adolescent syndrome of Bunny Girl Senpai, you'll enjoy Chuunibyou which is a comedic take on the concept which likely inspired Bunny Girl Senpai. In Chunnibyou the 8th grade syndrome is purely psychological and the goal of the series is never to get rid of it but instead to better understand why the character Rikka developed it.

Both are also kind of a supporting harem, where our main guy is surrounded by other girls but we all already know the "main girl" he will probably end up in the end.

A socially awkward dark haired girl can't separate reality from fantasy/games, leading to altercations which cause embarrassment, and protagonist tries to lead them towards a normal high school life. Both series have a club with only female members and one male, it functions to hide their complexes from classmates. Elements of romance can be found in both series.

+ Do you like light novel adaptations done right? Both of these are like that..
+ Both are shows about your eveyday and common life at school/club...
+ Both have hilarious/akward female MC's [ Rikka & Ako ], in other words, the girls who can't distinguish real life and fiction...
+ Male MC's [ Rusian & Yuuta ] are surrounded by their pseudo harems in their club, but still there is only 1 girl they are devoted for....
+ Funny situations, great artystyle choice, great OST's, memorable characters...all of it in these two shows....
+ Supporting cast sometimes can get on your nerves, but without them both shows would be bland and boring...
+ High level of SOL alert, in these you won't find any supernatural/psychologic stuff... +1 fot this...
- Chuunibyou has way better animation and overall movement scenes...
- Netoge has way better comedy and akward romance which I liked the most... read more

I think chuunibyou is a masterpiece, but here's a slimier one.. 

~both have females characters that can't tell the difference between reality and games/imagination. 
~both are romance, Comedy and School shows.
~both are Harem, i don't see any other characters than the main one!

The art and the animation for both animes are very similar altough one of these two is not KyoAni animated but is heavily influenced by KyoAni's style of Art.

Both Animes have a group of friends having some weird ocurrences in between.

* Both series required a whole new level of imagination to be created
* Both series will leave you clueless in a different way though for each of them

They are both short, 12 episode animes that take place in a school setting. The female protagonists both have a thing for eye patches and are considered "unusual" or alienated by their classmates. They both behave differently from everyone else and manage to drag the male protagonists into their strange sphere of influence, thereby setting him apart from his fellow peers as well. As time passes the boys naturally dissolve into the unusual world that the girls are "trapped" in and become a pillar of support for them. The happiness of the girls becomes the boys' primary goal above all else.

An unsettling eyepatch girl. Though Another and Chuunibyou aren't so similar in plot. Both anime does have a similar character, namely the eyepatch girls, Mei and Rikka, who are also both social misfits accompanied by the fresh slate of minds Kouichi and Yuuta.

While Another is a mystery horror anime with students catastrophic position of trying to save lives, Chuunibyou is a warm-hearted anime with delusions and the history with them.

I recommended "Chu-2" for "SF" since both have characters who are poco locos and also have characters who are just going with the fore mentioned's flow.  characters........also, since there is no "Kickass" anime, "Chu-2" for "SF" will have to suffice.

Ok, here's the thing, I wish I could have recommended "KicK Ass" since it is very close to this anime as a whole, then again, MAL is a anime/manga social site, so therefore "Kick Ass" is out of the question, so, I'm just gonna settle with  Chu-2 for Samurai Flamenco. Since it involves, main characters who ought to see a shrink and another character who just going along with the crazy character.

Ok, ok, so it a bit off, but then again if you'll look it this way both anime involves a character who is a textbook definitions of being "NUTS" and there is a secondary main character who is pretty much normal except that he's the one who has to pick-up the crazy character's mess.

They are dreamers, sometimes their dreams can get the best of them, but that's not gonna stop them from pushing on. Samumenco and Chuuni follow protagonists with dangerously powerful aspirations, their entire life is based around such and reaching the end goal based on these aspirations. It is simply a matter of if or if not they will reach this end they desire.

Both also have a similar link in terms of the very thing they are, well, geeks into. With superheroes and other middle-schooler fantasy nonsense, it is about the powers, the lore, the enthusiasm. Such an interesting culture to spend time in.

They are not entirely of the same genre, but they are good comedies, mixed well with their other attributes to make for an unforgettable show.

The protagonists are very much alike. Especially their train of thought. And they are both surrounded by a fair amount of very cute and moé girls.
Both give off the same vibes as they are very lighthearted and comedical but some of the characters also has some interesting backgrounds.

Both of these are School Life and Slice of life anime, as well as comedies. Both of the main male characters try to fit in in their new school. Both anime have a lot of pretty funny situations, and the story is really interesting. The animation and art style are both really good, too.

Misunderstood relation. Chuunibyou and Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun follow misunderstood protagonists who end up forming a relation due to that misunderstanding.

Though it isn't clear with Chuunibyou at face value, Rikka is a misunderstood chuunibyou character who is paired up with a normal student Yuuta. Nozaki-kun follows a misunderstood Sakura becoming a manga assistant for Nozaki. Both anime are stories which tell how misunderstandings can bring around the strangest of pairs.

With both anime being rom-coms, Chuunibyou is about chuunibyous and Nozaki-kun is about publishing manga.

Although the plots differ quite a bit, both shows have girls who don't quite fit in with the rest of society. These girls slowly change as they become friends and develop a relationship with the male protagonists. Also, the male and female protagonists must overcome some sort of adversity together near the end of the show.

Just like Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai, Nichijou features a blue-haired heroine who is very sick and delusional. For example, Rikka Takanashi is convinced that she has magical powers, whereas high schooler Mio Naganohara believes she has a chance at winning the love of her life, Sasahara. Mio also draws sickening fanfiction of Sasahara in her school notebooks, much like how Rikka's friend Dekomori put together the fan-made magical compendium, Mabinogion.

-Both have a male protagonist (Tsukasa/Yuuta) that have a special bond with a certain strange girl (Isla/Rikka)
-Both are slice of life (PlaMemo takes place in the future, with the MC working in a company that produces robots and androids, while Chuunibyou takes place in the present-day, with the MC a member of a certain high school club)
-Both are romantic comedy-dramas, though PlaMemo is a bit serious
-Michiru and Nibutani have the same voice and personality, and so is Eru and Dekomori

Both have characters with power supernatural abilities put in an everyday setting. The only difference is that in Chuunibyou, the powers are just in their heads, while in Hataraku Maou-sama, they're actually from another world. Both are also light-hearted and fun.

Both series revolve around main male character, and their interactions with other girls that go to his school and such. Both series also feature many girls, all of which have some cute quirk to go with them, making all such cute and lovable characters. While Shomin's girls' quirks are used in result of not knowing what males are this entire time in life, Chuunibyou's girls are very used to boys, and get their quirk by their 8th grade syndrome, which tends to be embarrassing and very funny to the audience. I feel like both series are great and cute harem-like shows???, and I enjoyed both of them a lot.   read more

If you enjoyed Chuunibyou purely because of its romance factor, how the main couple plays around and spends time together, then perhaps Horimiya could fill out that same void that was left upon finishing Chuunibyou. The character focus in Horimiya is a lot more fickle and shifty, but the little moments make it altogether that more precious, from my own subjective standpoint, that is. If this recommendation gets you to try Horimiya out, tell them yzhriz sent you! Enjoy! (plus the OP and ED for Horimiya absolutely SLAPS so that's an added bonus)

Similar moe vibes. The two main characters do a tender couple similar to Rikka and Yuuta from Chuunibyou. There's also a close friend trying to put both characters together. Besides, each character have its own odd personality.

It remindeds one of Chuunibyou as one of the characters wonders whether Mob (the protagonist) has Chuunibyou, only that Mob's powers are real, so it's like Chuunibyou but with real supernatural powers.

The set of main characters are in their second year of junior high school and undergoing great emotional upheavals and life crisis, so the overall psychological situation of the characters is very similar.

Dramatic plot, the main characters draw you in a lot. Cutesyish art style, as well as elements of romance, drama (as I said before), and action. This isn't a perfect recommendation, as Chuuni's romance is a lot more implied, and doesn't fully blossom until the end. But chances are, if you liked this, Chuuni will be a favorite of yours, as well as Toradora!.
