Both anime revolve around the MCs playing "pretend"....to varying extents.
In "Mitsuboshi Colors" the MCs are elementary school students who play pretend as the protectors of their town with the local policeman and the grandfatherly "Pops" facilitating their activities.
In "Chuunibyou" the MCs are high-school students who either formerly suffered or currently suffer from a delusional syndrome making them think and act as if they lived in a fantastical realm.
