InuYasha

It provides comedy and fantasy, but also becomes serious at times. There is some romance in both of these animes but it is not the main focus. More of a side. If Noragami gets a second season, however (hopefully), it's likely that more romance will be added it.
Both very enjoyable animes and funny.

Two separate worlds where one girl is able to travel to both and experience supernatural phenomenon. Element of love is present in both animes (more so in InuYasha). Relationship wise between main characters is similar in both animes being strong, supportive and passionate. There are also many characters to meet in both series that create a fun, comedic atmosphere.

Both share a lot of genres and themes such as action, fantasy, comedy and romance. The characters are also very similar.

-Yato is a sword-wielding outcast with a dark past whose one desire is to be acknowledged and accepted, just like Inuyasha.
-Hiyori is a 15-year-old school girl who finds herself in a world she never knew existed and discovers a new power to help her survive, just like Kagome.
-Yukine is a sarcastic young boy who has a younger-brother relationship with the heroine, frequently bickers with the male lead and can turn into a living weapon, just like Shippo.

There's a few others, but that would be giving away too much.

If you liked Noragami, I highly recommend Inuyasha, so long as you like long-runners. Vice-versa as well, if you prefer short runners. Although I personally think Inuyasha is the better of the two by a wide margin. read more

Both female MC get involved in a world of spirits and other suernatural beings. Also, both male MC try to hide their past from the female lead. Highly recommendable for those who like stories about action, adventure, spirit hunting and in the case of Inuyasha, romance.

If you enjoyed the whole "time travelling" theme that InuYasha is based on, then you may also enjoy Rumiko Takahashi's Fire Tripper. Both set in the Civil War era of Japan, a girl in a school uniform who can jump through time & a great love story.

Both Fire Tripper & Inuyasha were created by Rumiko Takahashi.  If you watched both of them, you'll see a lot of similarities.

Suzuko (Fire Tripper) will kind of remind you of Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha) given that they both are teenage girls from modern time ended up going to feudal-era Japan. 
 Shukumaru (Fire Tripper) is not a half-demon like Inuyasha, but both of them defend the main female character, there are differences but I won't spoil them.  But when you watch Fire Tripper you'll realize that's where Inuyasha got part of it's DNA from.  If you wanted to know where Inuyasha's inspiration come from, then I would recommend Fire Tripper.

Fire Tripper is basically Inuyasha Zero, Inuyasha: the beginning, Inuyasha: Origin.  Whatever you want to call it, every Inuyasha fans should watch Fire Tripper to know where one-half of Inuyasha's origin came from. read more

Yu Yu Hakusho and InuYasha are both in depth fighting animes. The main protagonists, InuYasha and Yusuke, both develop into stronger, more powerful individuals along the course of their adventures. They both weild incredible powers, whether it be InuYasha's Wind Scar, or Yusuke's Spirit Gun, a lot of fun will be had watching either show.

The two series utilize an older style of drawing, but are action packed. There are quite a few supernatural elements in both series. The end goal for the protagonists in both series is also not easy to see either.

Both are shounen anime with lots of action and arcs and around 100 episodes.

Both involve a "real"/modern world and alternate occult/supernatural settings that they tend to switch between.

Both have lead main characters who can be rather brash and rude, but who have hearts of gold when you get down to it.

Both have established main "squads" who they recruit over the course of the series and fight together with (pretty standard for shounen though) who are a mix of humans and demons.

All in all, I think if you enjoy one you may very well enjoy the other. (They both also have English Dubs that aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami segment though that's kinda irrelevant.) read more

I don't usually write recommendations for an anime if someone's already recommended it before me. But I can't stress this recommendation enough. Inuyasha is about a girl named Kagome who fell down her family's shrine's well, which transported her to the feudal era. Demons are fighting over the Sacred Jewel (which gives immense power to anyone who possesses it). Kagome tries to prevent a demon from flying away with it by casting an arrow, effectively shattering the jewel in the process, and the shards go flying in every direction. She helps collect the Sacred Jewel shards, and bring down hundreds of demons in the process. Yu Yu Hakusho is about a teenage delinquent named Yuusuke who unexpectedly dies uncharacteristically by pushing a young child out of the way of an oncoming car, sacrificing his own life. Nobody in the Spirit World knows what to do with him because they didn't expect him to die that day, let alone by a selfless act. To reward him/not knowing what to do, the Spirit World gives him another chance at life, and he becomes a Spirit Detective, hunting down malevolent demons. Both series have plenty of action, humour, and a splash of romance every now and then. Both are over 100 episodes, so it'll be something to keep you entertained for a while. They're both definitely worth the watch. Just a note, Yu Yu Hakusho was made by the guy who wrote HunterxHunter. read more

Let me start with the main thing that caught my eye: The team looked the same.
There are 2 girls, and 2 boys with one 'animal' that is still considered a partner.
They both have magical abilities and within each of the episodes you see their power.
Both anime characters are all very loyal to each other.
They are in another world.

Both are action-based romances, with mainly two boys and two girls and a little animal thing, but with other recurring characters, too. If you liked the action over the romance in InuYasha, Fairy Tail has more action, but still a little romance to keep you on your toes. Similarly, If you wanted more romance in Fairy Tail, Inuyasha is good to try. The one thing that sets Fairy Tail apart from other animes, though, is that Natsu, the main boy character, is strangely happy-go-luck, unlike many others- so if you wanted that change of pace after watching InuYasha act like a baby, there you go. They are both also very long, but interesting all the way through. Both, contrary to some people's opinions, are not just for guys. Girls can watch both and like them. Honestly they are so similar and different at the same time. Kagome resembles Lucy some personality and general progression, Inuyasha resembles Natsu by their relationship with partner, strength, and their ignorance/stupidity, Miroku resembles Gray in strength and perverted habits, Sango and Erza and similar in strength but Erza has a different relationship with Gray. Their plots are quite different but they hold so many similarities. Inuyasha's always protecting Kagome like Natsu and Lucy. Kagome and Lucy get kidnapped, a lot.... They are both action, comedy, romance, but Inuyasha has supernatural/demons where Fairy tail is magic.

InuYasha is very similar to Blue seed. The story uses a lot of the story plots from Blue Seed. Both are action comedies dealing with a school girl who falls in love with a rebelish demon guy who was once in love with someone they were connected too such as in Blue Seed a her unknown sister or as in InuYasha her previous life character. I believe if you enjoy one you should enjoy the other.

Both deal with supernatural creatures and mythology. There are also similarities in the female leads, both have high spiritual energy and are high school girls that grew up in temples. There is also the connection of the male leads, both are only half human, in love with someone that looks just like the female lead, act like punks but are truly kind hearted and value friendship.

Basically, Kusanagi is Inuyasha and Momiji is Kagome. Katy (or Kaede) is Kikyo. Silly love triangle and "Collect the Shikon Jewel/Mitama!" plotline included for free!

Well,Both animes have same genres of Action, Horror, Demons, Romance ect.  I think Inuyasha is much better than Blue Seed, only because Kagome doesnt scream as much as Momiji does from Blue Seed but both girls are in Middle school when they find out about demons n choose to fight them with friends, they both have special powers of a Priestess they have inherited from pervious ancestors, they both fall in love with a half demon, half human boy who fights to protect them, though not at first, both half demons had previous loves that have ties to each girl's past (With Inuyasha, he was in love with Kagome's past life Kikiyo n in Blue Seed, he fell in love with Momiji's older twin sister) they are very similar so if you liked one, you might like the other read more

Blue Seed and Inuyasha are VERY similar, and I've even heard that Inuyasha was based on Blue Seed, though I haven't verified this. For starters, the characters in each show have their counterparts in the other, like Inuyasha is Kusanagi's counterpart and Momiji is Kagome's. The parallels between the two series are easily visible, from characters to plot points to setting. Inuyasha takes place in Japan's feudal era, and Blue Seed is centered around ancient Japan. In both series the characters fight demons. They each have different and valuable lessons to be learned from watching them, so I recommend you check both out.

Both anime has a girl who is needed to defeat evil and there is a man that isn't human that protects the girl. For both guys, they were both in love with a different girl who was close to the main girl now (Kikyo in Inuyasha and Kaede in Blue Seed).

These 2 Animes are really similar.They both have evil demons in them who are usually the ones doing the fighting.Similar type of Music.Similar Type of Plot.and Both shows Main Villain is a Guy who is mostly using his underlines to fight for him.The only Major differences I could find was that the Main Characters are a little different

You could call D.Gray-man a more modern version of Inuyasha. It corrects some flaws InuYasha had but it still contains most of them. Some characters, battles & plot patterns are very similar. If you liked InuYasha you'll like D.gray-man but I dont think that works vice-versa.

- The characters are similar. Nice characters, with a dark past.
- In both animes the main characters and the enemy, are behind "something" that gives them power, in Inuyasha shards of the shikon jewel in D Gray Man power of "Innocence".
- In both animes the main characters are a group of friends, fighting monsters created by his enemy. Millenium Earl = Naraku
- Musica very similar.
- And the ambience are very similar to, but D Gray man is a bit more modern.

If you liked Inuyasha I recommend you see D Gray Man.

The characters are quite similar,
Naruto is like Inuyasha, both stupid, loud, but possessing hidden power, descendants of extremely powerful characters.
Sakura is like Kagome, always walking next to the main character and acting a bit harsh, often bullying the main and causing the main to have feelings for them.
Sasuke, like Sesshomaru, is the main opponent, cold and always stronger than the main, not a righteous side nor a villain.
Jiraiya is like Miroku, they both guide the main in thinking, they all love beautiful girls, they are all perverted
Orochimaru is like Naraku, both are villains, has a rather eccentric personality and has gender issues, white skin like a ghost, or gives birth to disgusting things from his body.

I have recommended these two because, in terms of story-wise, I strongly believe they are pretty similar. Despite their appearance as just an innocent shounen show for kids to watch, it has pretty deep significance. Though it might follow the adventures of two amazing main protagonists as they battle against their own destiny and fate which was unfair from the moment they were brought into the world, it might also feel like a cliché that someone would say just to attract you into thinking that anime is light-hearted. As a matter of fact, it is indeed not light-hearted as it shows the most gruesome acts of people under the act of 'the villain'. So, I suggest watching these two amazing animes when you feel like you want to improve yourself spiritually or you just want to tackle the red string of fate that keeps you locked up from freedom. These anime have many similarities, especially because of their characters and overall style.
Both Inuyasha and Chrono are long-haired, human-like demons who get in a powerful "full demon" mood when they need to fight; both Kagome & Rosette are a sort of reincarnation of the decaesed woman who was in love with the male protagonist many years before; also, both Sango & Rosette are involved in a tragic relationship with their brothers, since the latter have been brainwashed and passed on the evil side, and the sisters desperately try to take them back.
Both series have a fair amount of action, drama, comedy, and romance.

Although Inuyasha is longer, these two are somewhat a like.

They both have to do with Demons fighting with Humans in order to save the world, or to obtain something powerful for themselves.

Inuyasha=Chrono
Kagome=Rosette

The main characters help each other out whether it's fighting, cleaning up a wound, or just emotional problems. Either way, when they aren't together they still think about each other :]

Both of the male characters had a relationship with a woman in the past that didn't work out and it affects both of them in the future, especially after they both meet a new partner that they can share their experiences with. They're going through the same steps as their previous relationship but now they have the option to change how the story ends. read more

It is also the same priciple of being able to travel back and forth between a "normal" world and the more fantasy-inspired "old world". They both handle the subject of what problems one might have when crossing over to another world. Besides that, both series also have monsters/demons which can be both good and bad :)

In both anime, the protagonists are armed with an ancient weapon whose sole purpose is to kill other Yokai (demons, specters, ghouls...etc), and will occasionally transform into a beast to essentially fight fire with fire.

I just feel that the main character has a similar situation. Being half human and half demon, the main character doesn't belong to either side. But they chose the human side and decided to get stronger in order to protect them.

Both feature adolescent males with a guilt-complex, who are dense, hot-blooded, and intensely protective of a more intelligent girl who feel obligated to share in responsibility of guarding the surrounding area of demonic invaders. 

Though considering Inuyasha's popularity, Kekkaishi offers a better plot, less repetition, and a more varied cast of re-occuring characters.

Although Inuyasha & Kuromukuro are different, they shared couple of interesting parallel. 
 When I watched Kuromukuro, I'm being kept reminded of Inuyasha as I continued to watch the show.

-Kennosuke Ouma & Inuyasha are both characters from the past interacting with modern setting.  Both Kennosuke & Inuyasha both came from Sengoku Era.

-Kennosuke was awakened by Yukina in different but almost similar to how Kagome awakened Inuyasha.

-Kennosuke's protectee, Yukihime looks a lot like Yukina in a parallel manner like Kikyo in Inuyasha resemble Kagome.  Kennosuke protected Yukihime in the same manner Inuyasha protected Kikyo.

-Kennosuke and Yukina's dynamic rocky relationship mirror Inuyasha & Kagome's rocky relationship in both series.

-Kennosuke & Inuyasha both have restraining tool attached to their neck to keep them under control & obedient.

So if you're a fan of one of these 2 series, give each other a watch.  read more

They are both long and old series. Stories in them are different, but in both of them they are demons who are trying to hurt people. Both stories deal with magic. In both of them group of heroes fight for the sake of the peace. Both deals with the past connection of the pair of main heroes and heroines.

Kagome (Inuyasha) is pure-hearted just like Usagi (Sailor moon). They are both week and scared, but they always risk their lives trying to save their friends (sometimes even their enemies). Both heroines are connected  with two lands at the same time. Both heroines are reincarnations of powerful and well-known in their world women. Their past-life-self died with their beloved and because of him. In both main heroine have a very carying mother. Both have a little brothers.

Kagome (InuYasha) remind me a little to Sailor Mars- Rei (Sailor moon). They are both with long dark hair and like to tease their friends. Rei is also a miko (shrine maiden) and Kagome is reincarnation of a priestess. They are both sensitive and look kind of similar with their red miko dress. Even Kagome's strange grandfather remind me of Rei's, 'cause they are both odd and with strange ideas whom sometimes made their granddaughters to suffer.

Kagome fights with uniform that reminds me of these of the sailor warriors.

There's a lot of action! and a lot of fighting scenes. Has to do with 2 seperate worlds. Human vs. Fantasy.

Main character has a close person thats almost always with them. Kagome / Inuyasha and Al / Edward. Both of the main characters are looking for something/items. On their adventures they make friends that help them along the way, and of course enemies which they are determined to defeat. At the same time they're making sure to keep their loved ones close, and take risks for one another.

In my opinion, Katanagatari and Inuyasha are very alike.
They are, somehow, historical anime with action scenes, a little bit of comedy and some romance between the main characters. 
The male character is really strong and there are sword battles in both anime.
Also, the main characters travel around gathering things: fragments of the sacred jewel (Inuyasha),  the twelve legendary swords (Katanagatari)

Before there was Inuyasha and Kagome there was Fuiji and Pai. Except, in the case of Fuiji and Pai, the demon is in fact the female companion rather than the male, yet the search for becoming human or instead searching for demonic power is a common thread in both series. The artwork is dark, but the tone of the narrative has the same felel.

Both deal with demons/spirits. Also, there are some yummy bishies in both of these shows. It's great~

The obvious recommendation: Watch Inuyasha before you start with Yashahime because the anime depends on the established lore from Inuyasha

Both have almost the same theme and focus on battle against demons, and main characters that looks the same (Inuyasha = Tenko, Kagome = Noboru, etc.).

The two main characters have a very similar relationship dynamic (kind girl with control over a powerful demon after breaking the seal on him). Both shows are also action adventure in a fantasy setting with bits of comedy and serious/emotional moments. I'd say anyone drawn to these aspects and likes one should give the other a shot, though "Bastard!!" is certainly less appropriate than InuYasha due to nudity and darker themes.

Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun addpermalink

I get a similar vibe from these two anime, likely because their comedic aspect (minus the BL-humour from Hakkenden, which is almost non-existent in InuYasha) is quite similar, and they're both of a fantasy/adventure genre. Furthermore, both of these anime also make extensive use of the storyline of exorcising demons that make trouble for ordinary people. Besides that, the main male characters also have some similarities. Shino and InuYasha both act like brats, look younger than they are, and wield a special sword. I just couldn't help but be in some way reminded of InuYasha when I started watching Hakkenden.

Its a High School Girl & a weird strange boy. Kaname Chirdori, the main heroine of Full Metal Panic shares many characteristics of Kagome. Sousuke Sagara, the main hero, is more like Sesshomaru without the pride. With the perverted Kurz Weber and battle-ready Melissa Mao to round out the major group, it leads to funny high school slapstick and awesome Mecha action. And with Teresa (mistranslated as Teletha) "Tessa" Testarossa to complete the romantic triangle comedy.

There are many similarities between Shounen Onmyouji, and Inuyasha. Masahiro is half spirit fox, and half mortal. Inuyasha is half dog demon, and half human. Masahiro's partner Mokkun is very much like Shipo. Then their is Princess Fujiwara no Akiko, who is very much like Kagome. Akiko can see demons and is attacked by them often. Kagome is the recarnation of a priestess who can defeat demons with holy arrows. The main reason for the same similarities is that both animes deal with hunting demons, becoming stronger, and protecting the spirit world and the real world.

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari addpermalink

-Human MC transported to new world (in Tate no yuusha the guy was transported and became a hero while in Inuyasha the girl was transported because she got dragged by a monster)
-They both travel and villager seek help from them.
-Main girl is a demi-human while in Inuyasha the main guy is a Half-human Half-Demon.

There's a lot more similarity about these two and I probably missed out some of them but I totally recommend this a must watch.

These two Anime are of the fantasy genre, feature a lot of action and a strong female protagonist. The setting is from an older age yet the fear of the demons is real for normal people in both series.

Slayers and Inuyasha both have a group of people traveling together for the same purpose(Inuyasha-to kill Naraku, in Slayers- to Kill Rezo)They reminded me alot of eachother, they both also have fighting, and swordsmen(I guess you could say Inuyasha is a swordsman? and gourry of course) and of course I loved them both!!!

Both are about a group that fights against demons, and the female protagonist is a energetic schoolgirl while the male protagonist is a guy tormented by the memories of his past lover that died and that he couldn't protect. Ofc, many hints of romance between the protagonists.

Both have modern and non-modern aspects to the story line. They also have demons of some form or another. The characters help to draw the viewer into the story and the art styles are also very unique.
