In both anime, the protagonists are armed with an ancient weapon whose sole purpose is to kill other Yokai (demons, specters, ghouls...etc), and will occasionally transform into a beast to essentially fight fire with fire.

- Occasional comedic scenes of the ancient youkai dealing with modern world
While watching the first episode of Ushio to Tora I thought "hey, this reminds me of something." It was Inuyasha.
They're both funny, about youkai, and involve a powerful weapon. even Tora was pinned by a weapon like Inuyasha except that Ushio was smart enough to push the spear more in instead of taking it out like Kagome did.

Both are 90's series about a human-Yokai duo, one weaker than the other, who initially argue a lot but slowly grow closer as they fight Yokai, though InuYasha is more focused on romance and character drama while Ushio is a more typical hero's journey.
