They both have female main characters, but with important side characters aswell. It is also the same priciple of being able to travel back and forth between a "normal" world and the more fantasy-inspired "old world". They both handle the subject of what problems one might have when crossing over to another world. Besides that, both series also have monsters/demons which can be both good and bad :)
Both include an ordinary teenage girl who gets transported into a medieval era type world with strange creatures where they must fullfill a destiny. Yokko is a high-schooler though, while Kagome is a middle schooler. The demons in Inuyasha are replaced by monsters called Youmas in Twelve Kingdoms, most of which can't talk. Instead of the Youmas being part animal, there are people who can turn into animals in Twelve Kingdoms. In Twelve Kingdoms, Yokko yields a sword to slay Youmas, while in Inuyasha, Inuyasha wields a sword to slay demons. Kagome gets transported to the world to save it from a sacred jewel

Idk why but it reminds me of inuyasha on a much larger more epic scale, Yoko is slightly similar to Kagome in that she's a strong female protagonist, also this series has lots of Asian mythology like inuyasha.
