In both series, a group of young kids has their lives certainly changed when they are dragged into a twisted game that depends on survival. Rather, they must fight to survive and wrong decisions will led to consequences - being death.

The main antagonist of the series also has some similarities. Koemushi and Monokuma both are sarcastic but wields considerable powers that makes him fearful. As such, he also acts as a sort of moderator of the game and the kids are the players.

15 normal kids lives are suddenly turned upside-down when either they pilot a robot to save the Earth, dying after piloting said robot, or being thrown into a high school run by a talking bear where the only way to get out is by killing someone. As you can tell, a lot of people die in both of these anime. They have themes of hope versus despair and despite having 25 main characters, it gives each of them a great personality. Bokurano takes itself way more seriously than Danganronpa, but they're both good anime- Trust me.

Both shows are about kids put into terrifying situations and their reactions to them. They experience deep despair and are forced to develop the concept of life & death. Bokurano is more about the experience of the participants in the game and their perspective of life itself while Danganronpa is more of a mystery and never actually dwells into the dark minds of the people. If you enjoyed Danganropa you will probably like Bokurano, can't promise the other way around however due to Danganropa is too rushed and can't deliver the experience it intended to do.

Both anime deal with the despair of teenagers.

In both anime 15 teenagers are put into a situation where they're either killed or have to kill. In both anime is a mysterious being who got them into their current situation. They also give of a similar feel.

Both animes feature many of the same genres such as high stake games, play or die, and psychological. As well as, certain characters dying in many different and horrifying ways, a little bit about each characters back story and history about themselves before or after they die, and discovering many wonders and mysterious about their current situation.

Anime: Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e

There are striking similarities with these two anime shows. The stories are about a set of students in an isolated academy, who are striving towards being the sole (class or alone) graduate by either killing other students or having them expelled. The main female leads are seemingly cold-hearted people who remain calm but are accommodated with flaws, in spite of wanting to appear perfect. There are characters who bear a wide range of personality traits such as being gentle or cold. The more interesting factor is that students pretend to fall under certain categories to acquire advantages that are beneficial for said students.

Because of the nature the shows carry, the atmosphere exuded is heavy and characters utilize their wit to remain unscathed by others, which includes not getting betrayed. There are exams that students partake in that tests the abilities of said students. In Danganronpa, it's trials whilst Classroom of the Elite offers a multitude of exams.  read more

If I could, I would just get people to play the original visual novels of these games instead.

Higurashi is the real bread winner, imo. The visual novel is one of the most eerie, foreboding pieces of media I have ever played. It does an AMAZING job of building up the world surrounding Hinamizawa and the mysteries surrounding it, constantly examining characters from fresh new angles. The anime is pretty accurate to the source material and definitely worth a watch, imo. It can get confusing as the story is split into arcs that all take place in alternative realities but really, stick through it. It's worth it. 

Danganronpa is a visual novel in a similar vein and is also mystery oriented, with less focus on reality and more bat shit crazy antics.  read more

Both are animated series based on their visual novel esque games. Both feature court cases where people argue and debate over a case, usually a murder.

Both have fast pacing and go theough their material quickly, and people who like one are very likely to like the other IMO.

Danganronpa stars a group of school kids while Gyakuten Saiban stars more adults.

Both main characters are pretty small and weak, filled with bright hope and hero feelings, and give off a similar aura. I  think this is a good reason to watch the other if you liked the main character in one. 
Both settings are mysterious and give off bad vibes. If you enjoyed that mysterious feeling, then you will probably like the other.
Both have a diverse character set that makes the plot more enjoyable.

The stakes are high! At any moment any character in the cast can and will drop dead. Both of these shows involve characters being placed in situations where their life is constantly on the line. In Akame ga Kill! characters fight each other with weapons called Imperial Arms (or Teigu) and the result of these battles is often fatal. In Danganronpa the characters must kill another character in order to "graduate" while surviving the verdict of a class trial. If you're into shows where characters are constantly in danger then either one of these will do for you.

Similar feel, but Another is more dark. Both anime is of a class of students who are all have a risk of dying and in both anime the class has to find the 'special' person, where in Danganronpa it is the murderers but in Another it is the 'Extra' one. Also, both a bloodbath of an anime.

If you're looking for mysteries of unsolved murders, then these series are perfect for you! Strange murders are happening on school grounds and the protagonists need to do whatever it takes to catch the murderers before something happen.

Yakusoku no Neverland addpermalink

Both animes revolve around a very dark thriller theme that keeps you wondering and want more. The characters in both of the animes are trapped in a facility where they eventually find out that they have to escape the place or else death will await them. Everyone was deceived about what was going on and what the place actually was from a mastermind. People are dying one by one, so the characters try to make an escape plan. Their goal is to leave the place and go out the door that leads them to the real world. While they work hard to escape, they have to keep it in the down low in order to not get caught. Yakusoku no Neverland is a lot more intense, but both are interesting read more

Battle Game in 5 second Similar to Danganronpa, where characters are sent to different places and gathered in a room to be ordered to play a game of killing each other, especially there is one director who monitors and regulates the course of the game.

A mysterious entity brings together a wide variety of people. They  are forced to play a game. Battle for survival is on the line.

Psycho-Pass addpermalink

Both are mystery/detective anime with a morally upright and caring main character surrounded by amoral side characters. Psycho Pass has more of a plot and storyline while Danganronpa is more episodic. Both have plenty of murders and violent scenes. Out of the two I would say Psycho Pass has more depth and is more interesting but if your looking for something to quench that mystery and mayhem craving danganronpa is a good choice.

Both of these anime's have a twisted plot,but both anime's deal with a puzzle almost exactly alike. The puzzle/quistion is how did this happen? Either you are killing titans or your getting killed by classmates, both involve having to work as a team to stop the mystery. These 2 anime's are great to watch and leave you wanting more.
Danganronpa is great for when you want a good mysterey and some horror at the same time

Both anime mix serious, psychological questions with weird and funny situations. They both have a mismatched group of characters being forced into hard tasks by mysterious, unknown people. If you like one, you'll probably like the other one.

"Welcome players/classmates to my rules of the game, where I'll make sure all of you feel despair..." The main characters in here were suddenly trapped by the games host to their unknown methods as to why they trap them. A task is required in order to escape "the game": One must cleared the game, while the other is involve killing. One thing in here is survival, which means they fight for their lives until the end.

The difference is that SAO is an online gaming, fantasy action themes, and romance. Danganronpa takes place on a school, killing people, and clues and strategies to lure the killer in. read more

Same eerie atmosphere. Same inability to understand just what is going on. The difference is that Danganronpa explains everything to you at the end, whereas Pandora Hearts expects you to work it out for yourself.

While in danganronpa the characters fight to survive and get out of a Life or dead game in which they need to solve the mysteries behind the deads that occur in a school where they are arrested Gosick happens in a school of a foreign country where the main character meets a young blond haired girl who's a big detective and together they solve the mysteries about old legends and crimes. Both are worth watching and have lots of mystery
