Pandora Hearts and D.Gray-Man have stories that are focused around a group of people protecting the earth, or the people they love, from dark monsters that reek havoc on the world. There's also a lot of similarities between characters: Break (PH) with Lavi (DGM) and Oz (PH) with Allen (DGM) being the biggest similarities that I can make.

-Both main characters are boys and have traveling companions.
-Both battle agains strange creatures  for P.H. it's Chains for D. Gray-Man it's Akuma.
-Oz has Jack just as Allen has 14th.
-Both kids have special weapons they use to defeat there respective creatures.
-Both boys are about the same age.
-I'm pretty sure both have some messing with time but my theory of that hasn't been proven with D. Gray-Man.

 Now if you've actually read D.Gray-man/Pandora Hearts (not just watched the sub-par adaptations), they're both really good manga with good plots and such.  
 
Pandora Hearts is similar to D.Gray-man because they both can be light hearted and fun then switch in a matter of one page to dark and violent. Both are extremely well-written, especially, with the plot-twists that leave you wondering- you don't have a clue what will happen. I think that Allen (D.Gray-man) and Oz (Pandora Hearts) have a lot of things in common. 

 They both have the same "feel" to them. Also, they both are underrated and quickly dismissed because of their not-very-good adaptations. Both are extremely good, I highly recommend you read both. (Probably Pandora Hearts first since it's only 108 chapters, while D.Gray-man is more than twice that (219) AND still on-going)

Both stories start with fragments of the past of the main characters and the story itself. They also hint a lot a things that'll happen in the future, some you only notice after reading them for a second time. In the beginning there are lot of short stories with non-important characters but the development of these stories will make difference as the story goes. 
Both main characters, Allen and Oz (and Alice, in Pandora Hearts) don't know who they really are, and during the story they'll start discovering about their past and about their true self.
Both stories are also full of plot twists, action, deaths and dramatic moments. As soon as the first plot twist start, you can't stop reading! read more

D. Gray-man and Pandora hearts are very similar. They are both dark and light-hearted, though Pandora might feel lighter for more of each chapter than D. Gray-man. Pandora Hearts's plot line is also intricately woven with mysteries and secrets that you'll want to read more to find out. These are both extremely good stories if you love mysteries and interesting plots.

The mcs might as well be the same since both dont know who or what they are and both are self sacrificial. Both manga are quite dark even though pandora hearts has some light hearted moments and in both manga we actually dont know who the enemy is for a long time, in DGM we might still not know.In conclusion, both are great reads that give off the same vibes, recommended.

D.Gray-man and Pandora Hearts are very similar. The art styles are amazing and identical, and the tone is very similar as well. Allen Walker and Oz Vessalius are pretty similar protagonists as well. If you liked one, read the other! Have fun!

Millenium Earl and Mephisto are so alike. Both characters are "different".
Both main characters have connection with powerful demons.
In both manga exorcists use katanas,guns..etc. to kill demons.

D.Gray-man is another exorcist manga with similar ideas.  For one both protagonists have obtained powers that they didn't wish for and both end up dedicating themselves to organisations in order to fight demons/akuma.

Ao no Exorcist and D.Gray Man appeals to fantasy themes that involves monsters and demons. There are also organizations that are formed to fight them and the main protagonists are a part of those. Both series's storytelling also shares a lot of connections with the past. The main antagonist in both series also has a dark history that influences many of the events in the present story. Thus, expect plenty of action and plot twists. In addition, it's important to understand certain character relationships and their developments as the story progresses for both series.

-Similar themes aka group of teens in special school/society fighting various evil entities (spirits, demons, humans, etc.) all with special powers.  
-Both typical shounen but both are a little bit more mature than expected tropes, can be considered borderline seinen IMO which is nice.
-Special protagonist, really good equal character development, different but distinct character models.
-Mainly focused on story telling elements.
-Very little cheap fan service gimmicks, Exorcist has some mild nudity but not really perverted, especially in comparison with several other manga abundance within the genre..
-Verbose with lore and story progression can be a little slow.

Spunky and powerful exorcists, who are a bit more in touch with their emotions than other shounen protagonists. Plus, both authors chug that respect women juice daily since they're both, you know, women. None of the female characters get the short end of the fan-service stick (usually).

Despite having very different goals, both manga have some similarities.  Such as the physical similarities between Ed and Allen as well as the running theme of Good vs Evil.  However, D.Gray-man has a "religious" aspect in the manga, while FMA was based upon science and alchemy.

Both of these manga are have a lot of humor in them, but the central plot is more on the sad side. The main characters of both FMA and DGM have some kind of issue with one of their arms, and both series involve rather supernatural things. Each also has a plethora of characters, including "the annoying (but awesome) higher up" and "the 'evil' teacher."
Overall, both DGM and FMA are great series, and should definitely be on everyone's Must Read List.

In many ways Allen Walker, the main character of D.Gray-Man, and Edward Elric, one of the main characters of Fullmetal Alchemist are similar. To the way they try to protect everyone around them even when it means sacrificing themselves, having a weapon for a arm. Both series have similar enemies as well. The antagonist(s) of each series has a grudge against mankind and they believe its their duty to destroy it.

Atypical battle shounen, more found in the drama and the characters than in the fights. Both deals with religious and dark themes, mostly concerned about resurrection. The main character is similar in personality and a bit in looks, and both have a special arm that they use to fight.

"Dark shounen"s.. DGM has some 'dark' qualities that FMA had.. Both have some sad stories / dramas.. Allen (DGM main protagonist) is an intermediate (has and doesn't have some characteristics) of Ed and Al (FMA main protagonists)..

D.Gray-man and Fullmetal Alchemist have a sad plot, but has some humor mixed in it. Both have quite a bit of action, while FMA is more action oriented than DGM, especially later on in DGM. Allen Walker looks and acts somewhat similar to Edward Elric, and the villains, the Noah and the Homunculi, are very similar. Check them both out!

Aside from the fact that Tasha Godspell screams Allen Walker, these two shounen series share a  similar feel in a sense that both contain a considerable amount of badassery, humor, and an interesting gothic storyline.

To be honest, the reason why I picked up Witch Hunter was because the main character, Tasha Godspell, reminded me of Allen so much. I later learned that he was in fact designed after him.
Witch Hunter, like D.Gray-Man, focuses on an organization that aims to get rid of an evil. The character designs are very similar as are the ideas of unique weaponry for each person. While reading the series, you feel like you are reading another version of D.Gray-Man, only with a greedy, more selfish version of Allen Walker.

Naive yet fiercely loyal and moral boy is fighting against "evil," yet can't truly bring himself to hate this "evil," as he soon comes to find that there is good and bad no matter which side he is fighting for, and that it all ultimately boils down to the fact that we are all still human.

Expect to find good development of side characters, shonen-esque art, classic (though sometimes a bit mary-sue) fights, and struggles to become stronger for one's friends.

The main character of "Witch Hunter" (Tasha Godspell) is in certain ways similar to the main character of "D.Gray-man" (Allen Walker).
Both Allen and Tasha are swindlers and they are whited haired. They both work for a certain organisation, Allen for the "Dark order" (Established in order to hunt down demons) and Tasha for "WH" (Witch Hunters). Allen does not seem to hate the demons so he only tries to free their souls and Tasha, unlike most other witch hunters never kills a witch because he dislikes the idea of murdering them.
In later chapters in D.Gray-man it would appear the "Dark order" is using the powers of demons for assistance and the "WH" organisation has some witches working for them from the very first chapters. I can easily say that who ever likes "Witch Hunter" will without a doubt enjoy reading "D.Gray-man" and the other way around. read more

Seikon no Qwaser addpermalink

Both are pretty mature despite being shounen, have a dark mood, and share the same supernatural/action/super power/drama genres. The main difference is that Seikon No Qwaser is ecchi. Above all, in both the protagonist is a lovely, white-haired shota boy with a red mark/scar through his left eye (yes, Allen & Sasha almost look like twins) and with a sad, painful past.

The similarities are crazy. In DGM the Black Order and the Noah fight each other. The Order fights to protect while the Noah fights with ill thoughts in mind. In Karneval, 'Circus' fights the Kafuka (a dark hidden organization that does illegal genetic research) . 'Circus' being the good guys. The way the Noah makes their akuma is in a way similar to how the Kafuka make their Varuga.(Post-humans with special abilities.) The Millenium Earl takes advantage of his victims when the are weak and turn them into his pawns. The Kafuka gives their victims a pill that modifies poor humans into Varuga. To identify themselves, the exorcists have the emblems on the uniform and let the people and akuma know who they are. For 'Circus' they have braclets, that act as both a I.D and a significance to the public.
So if you absolutley love DGM but could go for a little difference in scenerio then Karneval is for you. The art is great and though the story needs to fix up a few loose ends, this manga goes for a good read. It's funny, mysterious, and though not as addicting as most manga, still nice to take a look at. read more

Plotwise, both series start off light and fluffy, but all of a sudden become dark and angsty after the story picks up; however, I would say the most similar thing between the two is the characters. In D. Gray Man, you have Allen, who is rather easy-going but fiercely dedicated to his mission when need be. His counterpart in Tsubasa would be Syaoran, who is an all-around friendly guy, but when it comes to the princess, he can be a little overprotective. Lenalee cares about her friends a lot in D. Gray Man, and Sakura does the same in Tsubasa. Lavi is the jokester who is challenged by his difficult mission, and Fai is the playful magician with a dark past. Likewise, Kanda is the strong and silent type, and is matched by Kurogane in Tsubasa. The characters are almost mirror images of each other. read more

Both mangas have really intricately drawn characters that have a unique character design and distinct conflicting personalities. They also both deal with themes of the supernatural and saving people from 'darkness'. The plots both consist of someone who wishes to help people who have the same problem as them in a sense whilst working alongside people with powers.

Though the stories in themselves aren't really similar, the main characters cross over nicely.  
Allen Walker is like Shion with the scar on the same side of his face, brown hair which turned white after a near death experience, and his happy, innocent demeanor despite what he's been though.  
Kanda Yu is similar to Nezumi with his bluish-black hair always worn in a ponytail (though longer), his irritation at how naive the main character is, his exceptional ability to fight, and his unknown origins.

This manga just gives me the same feeling. The main characters both join an organisation. They both have a deep past which they don't completely show you. Both main characters are becoming stronger and ''unlock'' powers they already have which they are unaware of .
If you like one of them than you definitely like the other one.
D.Gray-Man is in my opinion a bit deeper.

If you like the dark and depressing mood of Shingeki no Kyojin (underdog heroes trying to battle monsters much stronger than they are), then D.Gray-man runs along the same tile. Both have main characters constantly trying their best to defeat the almost immortal villains. And all the deaths around them...

Zone is essentially a pilot manga for D.Gray Man. While it differs in many aspects, all the important parts are there. Character backgrounds and interactions are somewhat different compared to D.Gray Man, but their personalities are very consistent between the two manga. There are differences in plot and worldbuilding which means that Zone is not actually a D.Gray Man prequel, and so it can be read at any point before, during or after reading D.Gray man.

Both series revolve around calming restless spirits; DGM is more spiritually based whereas ENS is more sci-fi (although it does also have spiritual elements). Both series also feature an orphaned protagonist who joins an organisation to add meaning (Allen for family, and Shinra to protect others) as well as a wide cast of funny and loveable characters.

-  MC has a really fast evolution, I mean, doesn't take many chapters in their training, and that's because they have an innate power.
- Strong heroines.
- The scenery in the battles are also very similar: lot of destruction and only in few panels to understand what's going on.
- Both highly recommended!

The late 1800s, chosen vessels, exorcism and time-transcending love, D.Gray-man and Donten ni Warau share many same themes and feel very similar despite one being shounen and the other shoujo. Both manga have action and dark themes but also bits and pieces of hilarious humor here and there to lighten the atmosphere. Also, the art styles are somewhat similar; both manga are created by very talented women.

I think the two of them give a similar feel. D. Gray-man has a bit more comedy and Tista is a little on the darker side, and Tista is wayyy shorter the D. Gray-man (it's completed at 9 chapters) but they are really similar. The main characters are both people with hard pasts (It's just that Tista doesn't remember hers) that fight and kill for justice. Allen and Tista both have a special eye. In both stories, the main characters watched their parents die and that becomes their motive for becoming who they are today. Both mangas have a character that is cheerful and supports the main character (Arty doesn't really support Tista directly, but he never really gives up on her). Both mangas are also related to the mind and death and loneliness.

Overall, both are great, and if you like one you'll probably like the other. read more

They have some sort of formed "organization" where they have missions to kill the "evil" for the greater good and these characters can acquire powers/abilities by magical entities. The difference is that Akame ga kill! is a little more graphic and disturbing.

In this series, the protagonist is somewhat related to the antagonist. There is the existence of good and evil organization that continues to oppose each other due to its ideals. They both hunt for the special items which provide them abilities and of course its compatible owner. If you want to read a story that is quite similar to D.Dray-man, then it doesn't hurt if you try this manga.

Heroes and villains of both manga operate in groups, that they perceive (almost) like their families, and some characters in opposite factions are somehow linked on a personal level. 
Both manga have a very good character design, while their fight scenes are not always easy to read.
Their general art style is particular, a bit gothic and steampunk (though Smokin' Parade is also gory and a bit disturbing).

Both have very well developed characters with deep personalities (Kanda's attitude toward others being similar to Haine's and Badou's relationship), both have great fights and a plot full of sadness and despair.

Replica instantly reminded me of D.Gray-Man for so many reasons.
Firstly, both series are about an organization composed mostly of young boys (Black Order/Cards) that fights against inhuman creatures which endanger the mankind (Akuma/Toy).
Both have as the main villain an evil inventor/earl who is responsible of the attacks put into action by the above said creatures.
Also, these manga share the same mood, aesthetics, and quirky, clown-like style, with dark/gothic elements, unusual weapons, extravagant setting, strange objects, etc.

Their plots are so similar it hurts.
Both manga involve a group of teenagers whose mission is to kill akuma (demons). The characters have super powers to fight against those creatures, and the latter have the ability to possess corrupted humans and turn them into new akuma.
The main difference is that Blaze's protagonists are kunoichi (female ninja), while DGM's are (mostly) male exorcists. DGM is also much longer.
That aside, both are shounen manga with nice art and plenty of action.

Shonen battle manga, young boy with super powers fights against evil organization, some friends become enemies, enemies becomes friends, similar abilities; in D. Gray-man they use innocence to form their weapons, in Deadman Wonderland they use their blood.

Both of them are stories of an organization that fight against supernatural beings ( D.G-M has Akuma that take over people and D E has Angels that take over people ) and they are the only people who can fight against them .

In both manga there are wariors who can use similiar things. For D.Gray-man exorcists can use the innocents to fight, for Kagijin, kagijins can use the keys. Keys are more similiar to parasite type of innocents what a weapon coming from the user's body. 
In both manga, kagijins and exorcists are being used by organizations.

In both Trace and D. Gray-Man, there are the heroes, in Trace it's the "Trace"s and in D. Gray-Man it's the Exorcists, and monsters in Trace there are the "Trouble"s and D. Gray-Man has Akuma.  Both are very similar in a sense that mutant people are fighting demon-like creatures.

Both are shounen mangas by female mangaka, so they have a similar aesthetic.  And the main male characters are all really nice-looking.  Both are fantasies, with lots of action and comedic moments.  They deal with strong moral topics.  The male leads fight monsters in accordance with their own principles (Allan saving souls of akuma, Yuusha not killing or harming monsters).  Most noteable difference is that Superior has a female lead.

Shounens that look and feel very similar.  Have a nice balance of action and drama.  Heroes have special weapons and abilities (yet are always getting really beat up).  Each has an organization that tries to prevent the spread of a terrible infection.  Riku is similar to Allen in the later chapters of D.Grayman.

The art is a bit similar, Arago and Allen both have "strange" arms, and there's this "don't hurt my friends or you'll pay" type of girls (aka Rio and Lenalee). Also, the police are like the black order, and there's this guy who dislikes the main character.
Also, they deal with supernatural foes and have tragic pasts. and the main charas have something "dark" within them.

Both involve the main characters fight a common enemy. In D-Gray-Man it's Akuma, in Dragon Eye they fight Dracules. Both manga have organizations, which the main characters are members of. Oh, and both manga are very good.

Not going to lie, I connected D.Gray-man with Magi-Labyrinth of Magic many time. Why? Well I'll get more in depth with that later.

D.Gray-man is about a guy name Allen Walker and how he joins an organization that destroys beings known as Akuma. Allen like most protagonist, possesses something that makes him extraordinary than the others. Magi-Labyrinth of Magic is about a boy name Aladdin who goes on an adventure to explore the world. As he explores the world, he meets many new people and discover something that he never knew about himself.

In these two fantastic manga, both Allen and Aladdin go on an unforgettable adventure. Even though the theme are totally different from each other, both manga have this nice, warm feeling to it. They both meet people that they will care deeply for later on as the manga progresses and both discover something totally out of their mind later on. In all honesty, I feel that both Aladdin and Allen think alike. They both always try to find the good in things and they both can see beyond what can't be seen... If you know what I mean.

Even though these two manga are totally different from each other. That's just how I feel about them. They both give off this warm feeling when it comes to the main protagonist and I think they both think alike. Not to mention Aladdin and Allen's name both starts with A's... Please don't take that seriously. But all in all, I think both are good reads. read more

Both series contain individuals who are gifted with special powers to fight. The protagonist also has a goal to find what he is searching for, by engrossing himself with the organisation which deals with these gifted people.

Gothic setting and art, bishies, action alongsides whit a bit of gore/Blood are things that make Vassalord and D-Gray.Man similiar. Vassalord is Shounen-Ai, but it doesnt mean it doesn't have a plot. They are both very good reads too.
