On their own or does it happen that people expect things to sell just because of authenticity? Like “yes, our pizza is mediocre, but this is real Italian pizza!” ?
I've always imagined New York as a new Babylon, where you can meet people from all over the world and enjoy international cuisine straight from its natives. I mean, you can eat pizza made by Italians, sushi from real Japanese, or go to a real Brazilian coffee shop.
It seems a little strange to me, but even though New York is one of the most famous seaside cities, you rarely see beaches and beach themes in films about your city.
I have always been interested in life in such cities. I live in a seaside city, so at night here you can practically count all the cars passing during the night without any problems. However, maybe it's because I live next to a cul-de-sac in the suburbs, haha.
