Both series have protagonists who are constantly put down and have their right to live or exist denied by others(especially antagonists), making them try to adopt a more lonely lifestyle at a point of the story, but end up forging bonds both old and new that give them the strength to fight back and press on despite their struggles and difficulties. Both stories show a lot in regard to healing from trauma and overcoming the damage that it inflicts on a person. Both show faith being portrayed in both positive and destructive ways.
