Tired of watching ordinary detective shows? Well then, these series should keep your mind serene for the time being. More than just your typical detective series, the mixture of excellent action scenes and fine comedy followed by a robust storyline is not only eye catching but worthy of attention. ‘Kekkai Sensen’ places its focal point in a city where the diversity of species is nothing short of palpable. Aside from the strong plot and exemplary music, the character interaction in-between dying situation is something to be applaud whether it’s comedy or something crucial. Both feature a stylish, jazzy American atmosphere paired with fun, experimental storytelling - think unusual cinematography, out of sequence events, following multiple groups of characters at once, etc. They're very similar in feel/tone, so if you love one, you'll definitely like the other one too.

Urban fantasy at its finest with catchy music and fast-paced plot to tie everything together into a thrilling package.

While they have very different plots and characters, they have a strangely similar feel. Both have strong western influences, an episodic sequence to most of the season until the end resolves the plot with a very serious tone. Most episodes have a similar format, with seemingly easy or innocuous assignments/bounties/activities of the characters turning into crazy chases through the city by the end. Both anime also require a bit of reading between the lines to understand what the episodes are really about, and many have a philosophical note to them. The music is also very similar, with jazzy beats throughout both. If you like one,  read more

Both are set in cities where much more is going on than an average citizen is aware of. The focus is not on a single MC but on a cast of unusual and cool characters. We see pretty ordinary protagonists(?) shoved in insane action and watch them learn and grow. Violence is treated nonchalantly, often to comedic effect. The storytelling is also similar, with an episodic feel but getting to a plot underneath.

FLCL And Kekkai Sensen have unexpectedly a lot in common. A young male protagonist who finds himself in bizarre circumstances with no control over the situation, quirky characters, strange things happening one after another, intense battles and slick animation, rowdy humor and insane amounts of collateral damage that everyone seems to forget about by the next episode. FLCL is a more tightly, condensed show that focuses primarily on the protagonist's growth, while Kekkai Sensen is more plot focused and less psychological. If you like the story telling and battle elements in one you'll find the other very familiar.

Matsumoto Rie. Those two words, more succinctly and more definitively than any other, link Kyousogiga and Kekkai Sensen. Fairly new to the anime game, Matsumoto is quickly proving to be a very talented director with a distinct style and Kyusogiga and Kekkai Sensen are the biggest proof of this. Set in fantastical alternative versions of real cities, both anime are brimming with creativity, feature a colorful cast and boast an impeccable visual direction. Beyond the superficial level, they also have thematic similarities, with familial bonds and the notion of sacrifice underlying the actions of the characters.

Both anime made from manga by the same mangaka, Yasuhiro Nightow. They have very different plots and settings, but similarities in themes of self-sacrifice and strong western influences. Both anime have an episodic feel to them until the last few episodes where the plot kicks off to a conclusion. Both also have a slapstick style of humor interspersed with unexpectedly tragic plots, and pretty wild action sequences. Oh, and did I mention that they both feature twins? If you've already seen Trigun and are considering watching kekkai-sensen, keep an eye out of a kuroneko-sama cameo!

Both revolve around a normally-realistic setting combined with alien and supernatural elements, and are built around a group of characters who take on non-specific jobs. Neither really has a plot, and both hang more on their huge casts than anything else.

An episodic storytelling format, beautiful flowing animation by Bones, quirky background music and wonderfully-written characters are what make these two shows come alive. Both are short, 12-episode journeys through the everyday lives of the characters as they live and work alongside otherworldly creatures. Though generally lighthearted, both Kekkai Sensen and Space Dandy have enough emotional mini-arcs to pull at your heart.
report Recommended by loco-mocos
Both anime follow the adventures of an organization of super-powered individuals taking various jobs, in a setting that's a mix between the urban and the supernatural. Both have large casts of eccentric characters, as well as similar action, humor and overall atmosphere.

"Noragami" and "Blood Blockade Battlefront" / "Kekkai Sensen" are two supernatural action series by Studio Bones focusing on individuals with special abilities battling against creatures from another world. These two shows contain high-impact fight sequences in an alternate modern urban setting. Also, the protagonist of both shows is a formerly normal person who suddenly gets dragged into the situation, though each respectively has a different reason as to why they continue to cooperate.

Concrete Revolutio and Kekkai Sensen (taking place in alternate, more colorful versions of Japan and New York respectively) both have premises involving a gang of individuals whose primary objective is to main the fragile peace between humans and otherworldly beings with supernatural abilities. Expect lots of funky colors and explosions.

Share a similar atmosphere, with underground gangs having superpowers in a similar setting.

A mixtures of calculative unique genre and plots would bring wonders to those who appreciate them which is what these series have accomplished. Some of the common similarities would be the use of blood to one's advantage, bizarre fonts in battle, and exceptional vibrant colours throughout the series. However, the most important aspect is the commendable 'idea' implemented in these series that have made them a success. 'Kill la Kill' has its story in motion way long before anyone noticed and blends in a variety of unique twist to keep you on the edge on your sits. Set in cities where a strange, other worldly gate has appeared turning the city into a place filled with the strange and wonderful. Kekkai Sensen tends to be lighter as it contains comedic elements, while Darker than Black maintains it's serious tone throughout the series.

The similarity of these anime is not on their plot or characters; it is in the quality of their animation. If you enjoyed the fluidity and the awesomeness of either series on your screens then the other is a must watch. Both series will give you greatly animated action scenes that will glue your eyes on the show each episode. Overall, One Punch Man and Kekkai Sensen are action-packed shows set in places filled with weirdness sprinkled with plenty of comedy.

I'm really surprised no one has done this. Both Kekkai Sensen and Mob psycho feature an insecure boy trying to figure out life and their powers. Both protagonists have passive personalities. Both have a totally different visual style but feature unique animation. If you like lovable scumbags that somehow develop the MC (aka- Reigen/Dimple for MPO or Libra for BBB) then I would recommend this.

Protagonists and plot really strook me similar. Plot of the two anime centers more or less around MCs beating up bad guys in their one-in-the-world city of wonders > both Leo and Touma have an extremely rare power > their powers are somehow similar (can no-sell most opponents, but are not OP) > both have bad luck and end up getting kidnapped, having to fight etc. > Touma is friends with a bunch of magicians/espers, Leo joins the main punk-beating group. > are #1 at needing a hospital every arc The difference is that Touma is more idealistic and brave, Leo being very smooth and kind to all. Both follows a team of special investigators, with sweet colorful characters. In both show, the main character begins in his sections, and is quite weak compare to his co workers. I also felt similarities in the city atmosphere and the beautiful scenery of these two shows. Both series are very funny but still have a serious story, which make it very entertaining.

Humans with supernatural abilities. Taking place in a city but Kekkai Sensen has aliens and humans living together. They are not hated for their powers unlike Tokyo ESP.

Both shows take place in a "wack" version of a metropolitan city, with an incredibly vibrant color palate. They both have amazing looking fight scenes, and swanky OSTs reminiscent of the jazz/funk vibes not often seen in anime.

Very similar atmosphere, both have action and comedy heavily intertwined, both involve the characters being part of a supernatural police force. The characters both have special powers.

Thank you Studio BONES! Soul Eater and Kekkai Sensen have one huge thing in common aside from BONES, and that's style! Both take place primarily in "America" and they share a certain American flair. Beyond that, they each generate there own unique settings that have a feel to them you won't get anywhere else. They also have a similar goofy humor sprinkled throughout.

Both shows in different ways deal with other dimensions. While Dimension W takes a more scientific approach to it. Kekkai Sensen goes into more of the supernatural route. They are also both written by creators of classic anime series Kekkai Sensen (Trigun) and Dimension W (Darker than Black).

The premise in both shows feels simillar, though their story developments are much different. Both shows have their well defined teams of characters, fighting to uphold order in a large megapolis of a city. The major difference is that in Mobius, the people are in war with the demons, while in Kekkai they're trying to coexist.

similarly, the anime has a relatively normal guy (who wants nothing to do with these shenanigans) that gets dragged into an extreme, usually funny, and usually non linear situations (as in all episodes do not lead a straight line into the ending's plot. see: hinamatsuri (which i recommend too, same reason), and nichijou as opposed to tokyo ghoul re 2nd season (which i dont recommend)) much of the comedy in these anime (kekkai, sekai, and hinamatsuri) are derived from this aspect, and a lot of the quality comes from the attachment to the characters, as well as the story. respectively, they range from more on "adventure  read more

1.They both have a bunch of guys with powers who fight. 2.I feel like they both are not too heavy but still maintain a good plot. Each anime has a similar atmosphere in terms of setting. The two share a modernized setting with humans and monsters "living" together (although in Bem, unknowingly). In both, humans & monsters try to work together do defeat the evil-doers. Kekkai Sensen - Focuses on a self-proclaimed agency - Modern american city (New York) - Monsters/Fantasy Creatures - Monsters working with humans Bem - Has a police officer main character - Modern city, seemingly western - Monsters/Fantasy Creatures "Yokai" - Monsters working with humans.

Kekkai Sensen and Vanitas no Karte both involve a character (Leonardo Watch/Noe Archiviste) being brought into a strange and dangerous place (Hellsalem’s Lot/France). Noe and Zapp have a very similar appearance, both anime have a very similar brand of humor, and both are animated by Bones! Sadly, Kekkai Sensen is kinda bogged down by a very weak storyline. If you like Kekkai Sensen, watch Vanitas no Karte. Other way around, it doesn’t work.

A colourful, fast anime filled with action and set in an urban environment. The main characters live in a crazy, criminal-ridden city with crimes occurring around every corner. The protagonist is a boy who obtained an implant to his body that gives him powers but will destroy his brain if he uses it too much. He uses this power to join a band of comrades.

They have similar protagonist, except this one is more serious in some things, but both are stories that start pretty chill with a good arc and in the end an op power protagonist, Gon has the Jajanken (idk how its the correct spelling) and Leonardo has an op eye power. The only diference is that Kekkai Sensen is more comedy but when th serie wants its pretty deep like HxH, both made me cry, Kekkai Sensen in the second season and HxH in the movie :(

While vastly different in tone and style, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt and Kekkai Sensen have a similar setup — crazy things happening in a crazy town. Both have some really impressive animation and music as well, and I guess Zapp and Panty are similar? However, the vibe between the two is similar enough to warren a recommendation. Be warned that Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is a LOT more vulgar than Kekkai Sensen.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is basically Kekkai Sensen, but with mechs and much, much better. I’m not joking. The main protagonists of both anime, Simon and Leonardo, have a similar personality, and both anime are over the top action with great animation and music. The composers are different, but the feeling of the music is very similar. I much prefer Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but if you liked the animation and music of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Kekkai Sensen is worth a look.

Both shows occur in a world where humans possess supernatural powers bc of the existence of alien beings. A group of individuals create a covert group, whose only job is to stop their city from submerging into chaos caused by the outpour of aliens. In the first episode itself, we see a new recruit to this group, who obviously is our main character. And together, the characters in both the shows go on grand adventures and participate in many visually appealing fights.

Chainsaw Man and Kekkai Sensen takes place in a society where demons and other creatures are preying on humans, but have yet to take over the world. The main character unexpectedly receive powers and soon gets recruited by an organization composed of eccentric and powerful beings to fight against these demons to protect humanity. Kekkai Sensen is a lot more zany than Chainsaw Man, which some people love. Chainsaw Man has a lot of graphic violence for a shounen anime, which easily catches the attention of people. Fans will undoubtedly compare them, but they have very different moods for a different experience.
