when you add the color coordinated characters/anime/manga in your favorites,
are they your favorites or just ones that you've watched/ read?
I totally get what you mean about The Handmaiden, it’s definitely an R-rated and intimate film, so it’s not for everyone. But if you ever do watch parts of it, the pacing and cinematography are really well done.
As for 2521, I’ve heard it’s pretty sad, but I haven’t reached the last episode yet, I’m still on episode 12 or 13, so I’ve got three more to go!
Yeah, I feel the same way. If a drama looks low-budget or the acting feels too stiff, it’s hard to enjoy. Like Part-Time Idol—I have no idea why that’s even on Netflix. but lucky and managed to finish it.
Oh, you’re right! I just checked it out and read the first two chapters it’s really similar to Friendly Rivalry. My bad! ^_^
Exactly! Jung Eun Ji is such an iconic actress. She was so funny in Business Proposal.
Honestly, when I see bad reviews, it just makes me want to check out the drama or movie myself to see if they’re over-exaggerating. And trust me, it’s a bit messy, but not all over the place. I’m on episode 8, so I can say that for sure. It actually reminds me of Rich X Bitch with Red Velvet’s Yeri in the cast.
I kid you not fam. I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO ANXIETY THE WHOLE DAY TODAY.TYSM for the recommendation! 🔥🤍
I guess you can tell already that I love the song from my fr request personal message attached. 😆
Do you have anymore music recommendations on the top of your head that I might like? :)
That was your first time? :o
Holy...3 days nonstop?! That's like the perfect social event for people that loves partying all day! And obviously like heaven for
people that are into music! I'm guessing you're quite into music then? Ohhhh! That's adorable! You went with your family!💖
Did your family liked it? Or was it too overwhelming for them? Unless obviously you guys didn't stay the full 3 days.
No shot? Even if covid is not as crazy anymore, you don't like going to events that draws in large crowds?
Oh really? YOU LIKED IT? :D
I'm not sure!I'll check it out by the time you reply to this conversation!
Yeeee.My new favorite song!!!!LEZZZ GOOO 🔥🔥🔥
Tokyo Ghost would probably be that graphic novel my semitomboyish friend from Maryland would love to delve into because of some similarities to Dot Hack like the consequences of VR. She should be looking forward to reading that one.
Not cyberpunk at all, but Black Science also explores the consequences of untested experiments and I can't wait to check that one out too after Copperhead (big fan of space westerns).
As for Silent Möbius, that is a very difficult manga to recommend because all 12 volumes are in Japanese, but it was worth the time I spent learning Japanese aside from Wild Arms 2 (looking for further westerns with steampunk elements). That game that got poor translation by Sony and I tried for years to explore Brad Evans' character arc, trying to figure out what his days of being a soldier was like. Especially before some kids broke him out of prison (still not sure why the idea of a prison break sounds so intense, but it's thrilling).

There is a reason why i wrote something in caps lock, everything for someone like me raised with bad genetics, environment / extremely poorly managed school system (even if it's probably even worse today) seems 24/7 exactly the opposite of sunshine and daisies, i feel like my only purpose in this world is to silently stay at the bottom of the bottom of the food / social chain , work / eat / sleep etc. etc. without ever having the audacity of protesting against it. And at this point, i'm too exhausted for trying to react, both physically and mentally, the damage is far far too deep. i hate my looks, my real name, the sound of my voice, for some time in the past i lost dignity when dealing with people as a teen, too young and naive to understand how the world works or probably being already aware but making some futile laughable resistance to it.
i should be happy that at least, in this worst moment i've ever lived, i'm almost moved out of my parents place, but even there, i invested pretty much everything i had and i'm not sure i will have a safety net if i try to resign from my current job (wishing them the best because they honestly aren't to blame for anything) in search for a better balance between work and social life. Oh, well... hopefully, those stories about depression / loneliness being as deadly as smoking 15 cigarettes a day are true, even if i never smoked, not even once. Sorry (for real) for wasting your time, feel free to put me in ignore list because i unfortunately can't see myself stopping making this kind of posts anytime soon, and i won't take it personally.
Gotchaaa.Looking forward to what you're next theme is! :OOO
Amen,sis.Amennn.It such a nice feeling for me personally spreading positivity. Haha!
Yepppp. So much troll and toxicity, no matter the social platform you're using.
All week,eh?Niceeee!
Doechii is crazy though fr.I saw a quick clip that apparently she got fired from her job back in 2020, then
(not sure what job it was) 5 years later, boom, she wins an award for best rap album! Totally deserved!
She also killed it when she preformed in the grammys this year. 🔥
WHAT?! The tickets for Coachella must've been mad expensive,eh! You went with a couple of your girlfriends?
The other one I'm listening to recently is this one:
Yeah, Jeong Nyeon definitely had that high-budget feel, and I totally see the Pachinko comparison. Kim Tae-ri is amazing Revenant was so eerie, and Space Sweepers was such a fun ride. But I seriously loved her acting in The Handmaiden! I actually watched 2521 first, so seeing her go from playful and cute to intense and intimate in The Handmaiden was such a pleasant surprise.
Pyramid Game was such a letdown as a drama… and it sucks that it was Jang Da-a’s debut (Wonhyoung’s sister). I had high hopes, and even though I managed to push through all the episodes, it honestly wasn’t worth it. But I’m still glad I didn’t drop it—I don’t like dropping shows if I can help it. for Black Knight I didn't read the webtoon but many user online were saying how it's nothing like the webtoon which kind of sucks.
Ohh, I only knew Friendly Rivalry as a drama too! I don’t think there’s a webtoon for it. And yeah, I’ve heard mixed opinions on Lee Hye-ri’s acting, probably because she started out as an idol, and some people don’t take idol actors seriously. But plenty of idols transition into acting, like IU and Suzy, and I think Hye-ri is great! She’s got that “I don’t care” diva energy, which I love. She was adorable in My Roommate Is a Gumiho, but I haven’t watched May I Help You yet. I might check it out after seeing some clips! Also, after watching the first episode of Friendly Rivalry, I’m so used to seeing her in more serious roles where she gives total boss-bitch energy I like her like this more. ;D
Ooooh! That's a more relaxed timeline.Just change it per season. You're really going all in this year fam. 🔥
Yeah. You never know.A simple kind compliment can make their entire day,you know?
Nahhh.I haven't really looked around recently, except the people the entered the MAL contests.
Also,I see you're listening to Jennie's song, "ExtraL (feat.Doechii)
I was listening to her other song, "Spot" a month ago.Hahaha!
Something that breaks away from the established way of doing things like corporate control, high-tech/low-life, rebellion or similar neon gritty nights in the rain (or environment). That setting that people would find very unattractive over the years. Those obstinating dystopian themes that don't really help with the breaking of conventions.
A change in themes, tone and narrative does sound like a great idea rather than an critique of capitalism, social inequality, technological overreach, etc being so seemingly obvious. For the good of relevance, innovation, novelty or things like that.
Several people told me that they've grown out of said subgenre, but as long as some things cyberpunk aim for novelty and the breaking of traditions, that is, mold breaking, then I'm fine with that.
Yes, there may be other writers willing to introduce a new kind of cyberpunk without fixed ideas and challenging some formula further.
It's also possible that future mathematicians will defy current formulas or any fixed ideas. As we can see, mentality changes over time.
