The main character Gon and Luffy are very similar. They'd do anything for their friends and they arn't the smartest people in the world. Also they are both searching for something.

Both shonen have a diverse cast of characters with unique abilities and focus on combat and fast pace. BNHA is more childish in its themes and more easygoing while HxH is deeper and more serious. HxH has more at stake and is cleverer, though BNHA has its moments of cleverness too and has some moments of tension. Both have a good mixture of plot and characterization.

Toriko story is about hunting like in hunter x hunter but toriko focus only hunting for food. Toriko has great characters with wierd and unique fighting techniques like in hunter x hunter.

Both are made by the same mangaka and have interesting fights, and story lines.

Both have similar power/magic systems, that are structured in very similar ways. Both are dark battle fantasy manga. Both have strong horror elements. Both have memorable casts of memorable characters.
reportRecommended by alpha_shadow
They both center around (for the most part) a 12 year old boy with an iron will, both characters sharing characteristics you'd find in the your typical battle shounen protagonist with endearing qualities added to the mix. Both feature relatively complex energy systems the fights consume of, and a Exam Arc (Interesting spins of the typical shounen Tournament Arc) that share many similarities with one another.

Hunter x Hunter and Magi are similar in ways in which the main male protagonists has a set goal in mind. With that goal, they strive to accomplish it with any means and along the way encounter various obstacles - some that puts their lives at risk while others tests their abilities to their max potentials. As with any fantasy setting goes, expect an adventure and fighting. There are are also various arcs for both manga involving many of the characters with twists and revelations. There is also decent comedy present in both series mainly composing of the interactions between the main characters. (bro-like moments). Nonetheless, these  read more

Jigokuraku shares the same vibe of dangerous, murderous atmosphere found in HxH's hunter exam arc. Both also share the same kind of aura/energy source. Mystery island, crazy murderers, supernatural strength and environment, dark past stories, the list goes on.

The Promised Neverland and Hunter x Hunter features characters who assess, strategize, and anticipate their adversaries' next move lest they be killed.

If you liked either one of these series and haven't heard of or read another, I don't know where you have lived so far. Anyways, these series are very similar, yet unique in their own storyline. Both series are full of shounen tournament arc type challenges/games. This is more present in ToG but also very well presented in HxH. Character relationships are also similar and Killua / Khun are almost like relatives just living in another universe. Both are ongoing series where ToG actually gets updated.

Both heavily incorporate strategies to their fights. HXH is (far) darker in overall, but if you like game concept battles in HXH like 2nd phase of Hunter Exam or Dodge Ball in Greed Island, you probably will also enjoy Rank Wars in World Trigger.
reportRecommended by Jim_Heart
Both have clever fights with lots of strategy and characters with crazy powers. Each HxH arc has a considerably different theme, just like the differente JoJo parts.

Those two are really entertaining you will get hooked up really easily both have action adventure with some gore into it

Both have a kid that looks after his father and special people who's job is to search for rare items.

The protagonist joins a Hunter Association to become a Hunter and fights off threats to regular humans. Both of the protagonists are described to have outstanding potential. One arc of both of these titles also deals with extremely dangerous evolving ants.

Both of them are amazing adventure series with endlessly imaginative settings. Both of them have young and naive main characters that undergo a lot of development and go through a lot of hardships on their adventure, learning things the hard way. Both of them explore the idea of downwards vertical exploration, in Made in Abyss's case, it is the main driving force behind the story and with Hunter x Hunter it is part of one of the challenges from the first arc of the manga. Both of them have complex themes and dark aspects to them. Both of them aren't afraid to show how cruel the world can be. Both  read more

Detailing the journey of the main characters, Hunter x Hunter and Nanatsu no Taizai are firm examples of an adventurous series. Both series have supernatural/fantasy concepts along incorporated shounen style battles. The main male protagonists have similar personalities but deeps down cares about the comrades they meet during their journey. Recommended for anyone who is interested in a cleverly written story in a fictional world.
reportRecommended by Stark700
Both have a young guy who have the similar mind, naive and optimistic through all times. They both also have the factor of seeming weak yet at the end of the battle their wits help them win.
reportRecommended by Mela
Main character is someone chasing and trying to find his father, and story is mostly about that. With tournament arc a friendly and pretty powerful character resembling Killua joins. Both father characters are one of the most powerful characters in their universes
reportRecommended by PattisL
Hear me out on this one lol. Both have really good writing for their respective genres as fantasy. Both are pretty brutal, with Hunter x Hunter baring its teeth around the Yorknew arc. Keep in mind that no matter how brutal HxH gets in later parts, Berserk is even crazier (especially during the Conviction arc and the first Eclipse). Both are stories with very well written characters and conflicts that may not even be resolved based on them both having hiatus tendencies ._.

Level E is an earlier manga by Togashi-sensei; it's sci-fi themed involving aliens living in modern day (well, modern for when it was written anyway) Japan. It's a good, fairly short (three volume) read, that is in turns funny and dark (and made me itch for a crossover with "Men in Black"). What's particularly interesting, and the reason I recommend it to Hunter x Hunter readers, is that Level E has proto versions of some of the ideas used in Hunter x Hunter - the most obvious being Greed Island, and much to a lesser degree the Chimera Ants.

Both main cahar are strong and be in a jorney about to find yours masters and know new friends that be strong too, lol , both have a lot of funny and action, intense battles and super powers.

If you like a good friendship like what Gyro and Johnny have you will love Killua and Gon in HxH. Both manga also have an amazing story, great characters and awesome battles.
reportRecommended by JoeKarta
A lively and expansive world that is imaginative as it is dangerous, where it takes one's cunning, wits, and magic/Nen to survive. The next battle for our heroes may mean life or death and often times they must work together if they are to overcome their foes. Both manga have distinct character designs, featuring people and other species from different walks of life.

Magi: Adventure of Sinbad and Hunter x Hunter takes readers on a ride for an adventure. Both manga series chronicles the main characters as they embark on an adventure of discovery. On that journey, they encounter both friends and foes as well as challenges that puts their lives in danger. The main character also gains experience from what he learns and makes a well presence known of himself to others. There's decent action and comedy along with tragic pasts related to some of the characters.
reportRecommended by Stark700
Both Hunter x Hunter and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure do a good job of breaking the stereotypical shonen trope of "My power is better than yours! I automatically win!" These series, instead, give us interesting fights and confrontations that utilize a good amount of strategy and technique instead of fights based just on overpowering your opponent. In Hunter x Hunter, every character is unique and has a different fighting style based around their Nen. This is the same way in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure where each character has a different ability in the form of a Stand.

Both are shounen that question the moral and aesthetic implications of the demographic. While stylistically different and almost polar-opposites tone-wise, both series go to great lengths to make their point, telling several (rather thematically disconnect) stories in order to amplify the exploration of their main thematic. They both feature a protagonist that challenges shounen conventions and subvert the establish shounen tropes, although Hunter x Hunter is more blatant about it. They differ greatly in narrative, although both have the superficial element of a son aiming for his father (defeating him in Baki and finding him in HxH). Both series also continue after this goal is  read more

The most obvious comparison is that the two are both battle shounen with pretty great action sequences. Saitama (One Punch-Man) has some similarities with Gon (Hunter x Hunter): both are kind of dense, enjoy goofing off, have immense power even though they don't look like it, and can be pretty scary when they get serious. Genos (One Punch-Man) has some similarities with Killua and Kurapika (Hunter x Hunter): Genos and Killua both have natural skill, power, a cool sense of seriousness, and wish to catch up to their respective partners; Genos and Kurapika both have goals towards exacting revenge on those who wronged them. I don't know it feels like somthing Togashi sensei will write if he was in to ego jidai and old japan and stuff. The art work is simple yet effective like hunter x hunter and the demons are disturbing like the chimera ants. Just for the artwork i thing people who hunter x hunter will like this too

Manga about four protagonists who travel a long journey. Both HxH and +Anima have beings who possess animal-like powers in a world full of fantasy. Both stories focus on themes like friendship -Not to be confused with "Nakama power"- and both are full of adventures. Both manga are balanced with both lighthearted and dark moments.
reportRecommended by Deago
Both feature a overexatable protagonist, and a stotic deuteragonist, and a colorful cast of supporting characters. Both have exceptional artwork, and are just plain fun.
reportRecommended by OneTrueAce
Really well done cast of characters, whether they're primary or secondary, 'heroes' or 'villains'. Each arc presents something new and different in the form of 'games', but the games get increasingly more complex and dangerous and require really well-done strategies that (99% of the time) are well thought out, logical and ingenious. It's a thrill just to see how the characters will tackle the next 'game'. The worldbuilding is very well done, and the story is able to maintain a good balance on both hype/tension while exploring various themes about human life and relationships.

Golden Kamuy is what Hunter x Hunter would be as a historical seinen manga. All the amazing characters that have their own exposition time, with their passions, quirks and bizarre personalities shown in a very believable way that is totally empathetic to the reader, not to mention a well constructed plot that does not fall behind.
reportRecommended by Gabriell_Braga
Both series can get pretty bleak and violent, they both also deconstruct the boundary of good and evil. The cute artstyle in both series is pretty similar too and initially dissonances the reader from how serious the series actually is. The main characters are not exactly the most angelic either. Also Asuka is sort of similar to Gon
reportRecommended by OnyxSaiyan
Both stories are set in a dark, unforgiving world, where life is fleeting and death lurks at every corner. Both stories are extremely fast pace, unpredictable, and constantly subvert your expectations, giving you a very thrilling experience. Both stories feature morally grey main character. Supporting cast is well developed. and Villains in both stories are merciless yet endearing. Both stories feature strong mystery elements. and will leave you in anticipation as schemes and revelations unravel. Chainsaw Man does this a lot quicker than HxH but doesn't compromise its storytelling quality or impact in doing so

I recommend all of JoJo, both hxh and jjba have fun and unique power systems, they both have good characters, both have amazing world building. When comparing them, you can find so many similarities between them.

Ishura reminds me a lot of some of Hunter x Hunter's later arcs.

Art styles is rather similar, and the characters aren't total angels or devil at all but are at least relatable. And both series can get rather gory but they both have rather interesting power systems
reportRecommended by OnyxSaiyan
The greed Island arc from Hunter x Hunter shares a lot of similarities with Quality assurance in another world, it's based on the premise of a game world with intuitive use of game design (even though greed island is a game based on nen and runs in real life). Both manga have an aspect of tabletop RPG with the allure of following resourceful characters understanding and exploiting a specific set of rules.
reportRecommended by elvishawk
Even though the stories are unrelated, both titles give the same impression. They are both dark in theme and the protagonists are honest and justice oriented.
reportRecommended by octopapa
FmaB and Hxh 2011 both tackle darker themes and subvert shonen tropes. In both shows the characters go on a long journey to find something important and on their way encounter interesting viallins. Also in both shows strategy and comparability is way more important in combat than raw strength.
reportRecommended by xShinigami3125
Both emphasize strategic battles with a colorful cast of heroes, villains, and characters who blur that line. Both feature non-human creatures and moral questions related to their struggle against and alongside humans. They each feature tricks such as characters killing or seemingly dying as well as special abilities that feature prominently in their plotlines.
reportRecommended by Animangamer
Hunter x Hunter shares similarities with Parasyte in the chimera ant arc, the main theme of humanity against a natural predator changing the food chain (with sociopolitical and environmentalist commentary); Youpi from Hunter x Hunter seems to be an homage to Gotou from Parasyte both in design and personality.
reportRecommended by elvishawk
There you have two EPIC stories about a journey of iniation. Those manga share very interesting themes such as suffering, death, the acquisition of maturity, vengeance, friendship, life's value, nature,... Both manga aren't exclusively focus on there main characters adventures. Buddha contains less action and more philosophical reflexions. Both authors impressed me with hardly predictable plot lines at frequent instants. Yoshihiro Togashi was without a doubt inspired by Buddhist beliefs when writing his manga, therefore I find my recommandation relevant.
reportRecommended by Muzard
Both series are about adventuring through a really weird world, though Sabikui Bisco's is definitely weirder. Rather than having an overarching plot for the series, each arc of both Bisco and HxH is its own story, with only a loose connection to the other arcs. Both stories meander a bit, but you'll enjoy the ride.
reportRecommended by MorgantheFae
it may seems like a pretty bizarre recommendation and i don't know what to mention besides a similar genres, but both Yoshihiro Togashi and Tite Kubo was heavily inspired by Masami Kurumada's Saint Seiya and it's clearly shows. they both feels really similar, but without copying eachother. also, both have guys whos clan was wiped out, but character from Bleach don't give a crack about this, while character from HxH seeking for revenge.

Girly dude with chains, similar setting and events (tournaments, exams and so on) but with more action. Saint Seiya left biggest impact on Yoshihiro Togashi's creations.

Both shounen involving superpower and fight with srategies. Similar battle styles.
reportRecommended by Kraanerg
The similarities between these two shows come in the form of the tone... Both are dark and the amungst the more 'mature' shounen's avaliable: - we don't simply see a 'fountain of blood' to maintain a 'horror' element, there is actual graphic scenery - there we have crudeness present in both which doesn't rely on your typical cases of half naked ladies We don't have a single 'be all and end all' safe hero: - the 'good guys' aren't particullarly angelic - minors and new cast members establish themselves - 'bad guys' get their fair share of attention when not facing off against 'the hero's'

Both stories are about a young man who lives on a island and sets out to follow in his fathers footsteps to become the greatest Hunter/Patriot in the world. Along the way they meet new allies as well as new enemies.

Both of the characters have extremely warped mines, always thinking optimistically of the situation that their in. They are both very scary and interesting at the same time.

Happy little dude with amazing strength goes on world changing adventures. Both Gon and Jio have similar personalities; kind, compassionate, and joyful, but when stuff gets serious can be frighteningly powerful and serious.

If you liked HXH's Chimera Ant arc in particular and want something else like that, Terra Formars is a similar idea with humans fighting mutated roaches on Mars, enhanced by insect DNA.
reportRecommended by walla
Both about a guy that respects his father and want to follow his steps in a similar fantasy world.
reportRecommended by BlindNoldor
The same fantasy action/adventure setup, both about a boy/girl following the steps of their deceased (but not actually deceased) father in a similar hunting-like story.
reportRecommended by BlindNoldor
Anyone who love the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter should read Kyokutou Chimeratica (KKC). KKC and HxH both has a Hunter Association that tries to fight mutated creatures called "Chimeras." The formation of Chimeras is very similar in both series as well (primarily through "phagogenesis"). Both series feature a young hunter protagonist who is surrounded by powerful Hunters. KKC is a fantasy monster-hunting manga and the adventure seems very close to what Togashi teased would take place in HxH's Dark Continent Saga.
reportRecommended by Indolence
Manga that might be action shounen, but it certainly doesn't skim on depth of the characters, with cast that is not divided just into "good" and "evil", a protagonist that selfish and willing to follow his goal with disregard to consequences, the plot sometimes delving into more philosophical area.
reportRecommended by abystoma2
Strategy based fighting. The power systems are very unique.

If you like that dark mood HunterxHunter provides, then you'll be completely satisfied with Tokyo Ghoul. This manga can hit you very deep in that sphere of emotion. I'd even like to add to this that the darker emotions can be caught even more thoroughly in Tokyo Ghoul because you get to feel them through the characters, as they catch your senses very quickly.
reportRecommended by Po3try
These series both have a strong, and passionate focus on gaming and its many different aspects, both Togashi and Takahashi clearly have a deep love for it. This is shown in so many different plots throughout both, from Dice Games, Card Games, Roleplaying Games and more in Yu-Gi-Oh, to the complex Greed Island RPG, the national game of East Gortheu Gungi, and the many mind games that fill the pages of Hunter X Hunter. Both manga are great, although Hunter X Hunter much better in the end, they both are great shounen reads.

The series both have a beginning arc that is incredibly similar. The tests the potential astronauts have to go through are incredibly similar to the tests of potential Hunters have to go through.

Both series are about kids on quests in worlds that really aren't friendly to kids. The personalities of the supporting characters are similar levels of weird, though The Elusive Samurai doesn't have any overt speculative fiction elements like HxH does.

A 12 year-old boy sets out on a journey in hopes of finding his missing parent (Ging in HxH, Lag's mother in Tegami Bachi). If you want a manga with adventure, plenty of likeable characters, unique fantasy settings, and some good world-building, you're likely to enjoy either one of these series.
