How I rate:
Trash tier
1: Incredibly garbage. The worst thing to ever happen to mankind.
2: Trash, but perhaps is ironically enjoyable in some perverse way.
3: The highest form of pure utter idiocy, by all metrics it's bad but there might've been one instance where it had some semblance of
Average tier:
4: Not necessarily average, but close to it. Falters in some ways that prevents it from being something I'd consider a 5/10.
5: What most would consider 'average' (in some scales, that would be a 7/10, for me it's a 5/10 because why skew the scale so much? It's for this exact reason the majority of anime on this site are in shades of 7-8).
6: On it's way to what some might consider 'decent', but not quite there. Fumbles too much to be called a decent series, but you can see the potential there if you squint.
GOOD TIER:
7: Decent. Has its shortcomings but overall provided a pleasant experience. While it wouldn't be something I'd put on a top 10/15 or even maybe 50 anime list, it's a show I can understand some people might enjoy as it's airing, however I think such a such might also be forgotten as time passes on.
8: Great. A riveting experience in some way, whether it be hype, emotional depth or anything inbetween.
GOAT TIER:
9: Incredible. Something about this anime will stay with you. The only thing keeping it from masterpiece status is perhaps a set of nitpicks that come from personal taste, and on any other list it would be someone's 10/10 or even less (that's what opinions are for).
10: Masterpiece. Not necessarily flawless, but one of the best of anime I've seen among many. Sets itself apart from the rest in some or many ways, and holds true to a core that cements it as something worth watching in your lifetime (if it appeals to your tastes).
There are times where I'm just stuck between ratings and might go with a .5, but usually I tend to choose the number that leans closest to the above thoughts.

Me: Great !
One Piece:6
Me:Are you kidding ? Why ? ;-;
And yeah, I don't quite understand its "masterpiece" status that some people seem to give it either. Even without the BS romance, it still wouldn't be a 8-10/10.
Also nice to see someone actually read my review lol. Almost forgot I even wrote it.
You know if you want to have a civil discussion with someone, insulting their views and dismissing their points is really not gonna take you far… just a friendly reminder for the future.
It is clear to me that you didn’t stopped to think a second about the things I said… no u just shitted out this bullshit excuse of yours. So here is me shitting out arguments.
About the Nen system: The word “nen” appears In my review exactly Zero times, so claiming I was talking about the Nen system is factually wrong.. learn to read.
And claiming it was important to the show is also wrong. I didn’t care about it at all and I still knew what was going on at the end. Its basically only overly convoluted background information unimportant to the major story.
“When I said Nen 'takes away predictability in battle', I meant it allows for strategy”, that’s a contradiction since taking away predictability of an action makes it unable to plan any outcome with it during battle.
You breaking down the thematics was also pretty unnecessary and nothing I asked for. I said they were childish and pseudo intellectual and nothing more than what other shounen have.
“Some people think HxH being disjointed and 'all over the place' makes for a whimsical story”
Its called having no focus and often times its due to filler (aka unnecessary side stories) such is the case in HxH. Your subjective excuse doesn’t change that fact.
To compare HxH to other shows I have to say that most other shounen have some kind of interesting ideas which they stick to and what makes them somewhat interesting. Naruto has its ninja, One Piece has its pirates and so on. Other than that they follow a normal story structure which works for its audience of teenagers. HxH however has nothing unique and is just a mess of stolen ideas with a story structure that makes no sense at all. It tries to be unique but after all nothing makes sense.
At least you can rewatch Mars of Destruction without losing your mind and if you don’t like it you only wasted 25 minutes of your life, instead of the abomination which is HxH. What do you think is worse- a ball of shit or 1000 tons of it?
“I just wanted to enumerate these points in case other people come across this to show how misleading these criticisms are”-Well I won’t give you the satisfaction. Post your shit arguments somewhere else. Even having the audacity to say that makes me instantly want to delete this comment. I hope you learn from this not to waste your time. Bye
