Both shonen have a diverse cast of characters with unique abilities and focus on combat and fast pace. BNHA is more childish in its themes and more easygoing while HxH is deeper and more serious. HxH has more at stake and is cleverer, though BNHA has its moments of cleverness too and has some moments of tension. Both have a good mixture of plot and characterization.

With its wide spectrum of characters, Hunter x Hunter and Boku no Hero Academia appeals a lot with its colorful cast. Both series' main male protagonist has similar personalities and hopes to prove what they are worth. They also have a complicated relationship with their Father. Throughout their story, they encounter powerful adversaries while developing unique skills of their own. Both series features a lot of battle mechanics and supernatural gimmicks that can appeal to any shounen fan. There is also emphasis on characterization with creative story development.

The Hero Academy from MHA reminds me A LOT of a more light hearted version of the Hunter Exams of HxH.

Thinking accordingly in battle, character development, lovely personalities. HxH story is much better due to the weight of time, but Boku no Hero Academia has consistent, great art that is very much worth appreciating.

Like Hunter x Hunter, Boku no Hero Academia is a story about a boy in an amazing world with amazing powers. Both are shounen, and both has a little boy as a main character, who is getting friends in a world, full of villains.

Both begin following a very similar storyline. The main protagonists are young, determined and very bright characters in general (both also have green hair!). Both have a wide range of charismatic characters. Both contain epic battles and action you'd expect to see in a shounen series.

The heroes' peculiarities in BnHA works in a similar way than the nen techniques in HxH. The fights in both mangas are based in strategies made out of these powers' capabilities and limitations.

The MCs Izuku & Gon have lot of similarities like: - They are very smart & strong, even though they don't look like it - They are very strategic in battling - They go out of their way to help their friends - They are kind & selfless among other things

Both have main characters that are young boys striving to become very strong in order to reach the level of impossibly power father-figure. In both there is a huge amount of diversity in character design and development. And they both have pretty similar feel and tone.
