Both series are a happy-go-lucky, episodic magical girl type series. Both are about a girl around the same age with a magical helper and a quest to collect something. It's been said by everyone who does this recommendation!

Sailor Moon have to find crystals and Cardcaptor Sakura have to find cards :) Romance - Cheack! Comedy - Check! It's very good i promise :)

If you liked the animation and motifs found in "Card Captor Sakura," you're sure to fall in love all over again with CLAMP's animation "Kobato." The animation style keeps that unique CLAMP feel to it, brought to life with a great voice cast and a storyline that will have you laughing one moment and then reaching for a Kleenex the next. This anime is a great watch for anyone who is looking for a little bit of angelic magic. :3

Both of these are magical girl animes which follow the lives of lovable girls who transform into magical girls to save the day. They also feature male characters with some special abilities.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya is basically Fate/Stay night meets Cardcaptor Sakura. Just on the more serious side and with epic battles.

Both are awesome mahou-shoujo anime titles.

Both are Magic Shoujo animes, with the main girl character becoming the hero by obtaining some sort of magic power, which she was already destined to have. Also both series are filled with middle school kids and cute magical creatures. In both series there is a guy that falls in love with the main girl character even though they are always fighting with each other. ^_^"

CCS and Nanatsuiro Drops are really similar because of the main idea, in CCS Sakura picks cards and in Nanatsuiro Sumomo picks stars. Kero and Yuki are really similar too, both are supposed to be the "annyoing stuffed animal" although Yuki is less annoying than Kero.

Both are magical girl series with drama and comedy and, of course, romance. Mitsuki (Full Moon wo Sagashite) and Sakura (Cardcaptor Sakura) are main characters with great character development, working very hard for their goals (even though their goals are quite different from each other), and for a time are confused with who they are in love with.

Both Cute, romantic and magical and both the main characters in Gakuen Alice are soo similar to the two mains in CCS

Utterly adorable magical girl series! Both TMM and CCS are kid-friendly tales that will appeal to anyone who enjoys girly, cutesy shoujo.

They're similar since both of them are about magical girls, comedy, romance and school life. If you liked one is possible that you'll like the other. However, CCS is better than UM

Both are about Magical Girls. And both girls have a little helper always with them :]

Adorable is one word that describes both of these series, but there is a certain charm behind the two series which fills the viewer with a nice, warm and fluffy feeling. Cardcaptor Sakura and Ojamajo Doremi are in fact your classic Magical Girl series which hit all of the major plot point expected of a Magical Girl series, yet the fact they don't go beyond this doesn't mean the characters are any less charming and delightful, but there is a new adventure every episode.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
A pretty obvious one, but both are of the magical girl genre. Both main characters, Maron and Sakura, have "magical" powers, little helpers that guide them, and rivals turned love interest. Also, both stories have well thought out plots, and unforgettable side characters!

These titles are both long running series with primary themes of magic and romance. Following the antics of two young witches living in the human world, Sugar Sugar Rune is perfect for people looking to relive the comedy and mystery of Cardcaptor Sakura. The series is suitable for younger audiences, so don't expect much of a complicated plot. However, each episode brings with it a heart-warming moral and the protagonists, Chocolat and Vanilla, are incredibly endearing characters.

Both are Lovable stories that follow two girls as they get stronger. The main characters, Misaki (angelic layer) and Sakura ( cardcaptor sakura) are friendly and kind. They are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in. As the story progresses, the two girls get better at what they do. Sakura at collecting clow cards and Misaki at playing angelic layer. The two main character's best friend, Tomoyo (cardacaptor sakura) and Hatoko ( angelic layer)are also similar in appearance and personality. The art is similar. Both stories have to do with adventure and character develoment. They are fun to watch.

The greatest strength of Cardcaptor Sakura is its character development. A series about a magical girl collecting cards does not seem like it would have a deeper story behind it, but it does. The same is true for Sugar. A series synopsis will tell a viewer that Sugar is about a snow fairy hoping to become a fully realized season fairy by searching for the kirameki, and a human named Saga helps her and her friends along the way. One might expect an episodic storyline about childish trials and moral lessons, but the storytelling gets much more involved. And character development shines  read more

Happy feelings, friendship, cute art and magical girls. A happy anime to enjoy with the whole family good for kids while still super enjoyable for adults. Cardcaptor Sakura goes deeper in to its world than Little Witch Academia, and in my personal opinion I found both worlds to be extremely interesting and exciting yet not quite the same which makes them different enough to feel unique but similar enough to bring up the same emotions. Both involve a Magical Girl awakening to the power of cards and the main characters in both are sweet, kind-hearted girls who aim to be helpful in the loss of their mothers. Both series also share very impressive and original art. Their styles are not similar to each other, but they are both very well done for their respective time periods.

Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura are known for being classics when it comes to magical girl, yet each of these series ended up setting standards for what the audience expects from the genre while also not pushing boundaries to the level some of the later, their strength being in the characters as well as the storytelling and thus they've stood the test of time.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Cardcaptor Sakura is more "upbeat" and "shojo-ish" than D.N.Angel, which is darker and has more aspects of shonen, but both feature a cast of characters with magical powers. There are also quite a few characters with feathery wings. Plus, like D.N.Angel, almost all of the magical characters which appear in Cardcaptor Sakura are boys (despite the fact that the main one is a girl).
report Recommended by mysngoeshere56
Childhood is a time of magic and imagination, but the lives of the two main protagonists - while magical - are definitely not a figment of their imagination. The two main protagonists are also strong female protagonists facing life and growing up. The tone for both series is often light hearted, rarely if ever straying from this, but both are considered by quite a few beloved classics.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
These are two fairly old magical girl anime. The fights are fairly decent, but one of the most notable features of both anime are the costumes worn by the magical girls. These are both quite Japanese anime, but they still make sense to Westerners.

Sakura in cardcaptor Sakura hairstyle is the same as Ai in kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi it's true but the plot is different and both hold something somehow magical

Main character frees a magical creature by accident and has to capture other magical creatures that cause trouble. The creature on the main character's side is a bit quirky and knows almost everything about the other creatures. Both main characters can also use the captured creatures.

The stories are centred around finding various things and returning them to card-form to fill up a book. The characters also fight with the cards once they have obtained them.

Both animes belongs to Clamp and presents the same characters in different universes. Both plots are essentially romantic, but they have many cool magical battles too!

Both have magical cards. The maind character is kind and have so many hopes.

Both are more shoujo anime, aimed for kids. Though, both are very mature, much more than your average anime. Sakura is mostly episodic telling a new story each episode about a card doing some mess, and Layton is also almost episodic telling a new story each episode, but about cases that our detective solves. If you like one, you will surely like the other one!

If you really enjoyed the bond and relationship that Sakura and Tomoe had, Marin and Moe have very simillar one as well, albeit far more turbulent. Also both shows features their heroines, fighting monsters with the help of otherworldly beings, but it must be noted that Brigadoon can feel much darker, compared to Cardcaptor Sakura.

Both Kimi ni Todoke and Cardcaptor Sakura has an ability to cheer up and smile while you watch it.

Both feature a caring, outgoing female protagonist who is still in grade school with powers. I found a lot of parallels between the MCs. They're both working hard with their friends to help others and solve their internal dilemmas. - In Cardcaptor, she gets her powers after she touches a book. In Sinbi, she gets her powers after meeting Sinbi. - Both have a funny nonhuman character who teaches them about their powers and becomes their friend. - Both meet a possible romantic partner who helps them (can't say anymore without spoilers lol)

Both of these shows take the concept of "ordinary school student finds mysterious magical book and sees its powers first hand, changing their lives forever and befriends the magical creature that originally owned said magic book and can fly and likes to eat. A lot." And then each show goes in complete opposite directions with it. And they both have widely reviled "Americanized" versions too; CardCaptors and 2017 Netflix Death Note. While the tones and feels of each show are complete opposite to one-another, they do have somewhat similar setups that both involve ordinary school students finding mysterious books with magical  read more

So the reasoning behind this recommendation. The pacing of the show is really similar imo. Both are longer animes that have a balanced amount of serious/plot relevant/exciting moments and laid-back, relaxing episodes. Nadja and Sakura are around the same age, both are freaking cute and there's romance in both animes. The male cast of the shows is notably handsome too! xD

Inuyasha and CCS, both series are directed towards a world connected with the magical and spiritual, where the protagonist accidentally releases an unimaginable power divided between several fragments / cards, awakens a powerful being who had been asleep for years. Joined with this to seek what he has released so that it is not used for evil, following the presence that only she can feel due to a hidden power within her. There is also a certain rivalry to collect these fragments / cards, although that may change later as them may get to know each other better. Two series full of adventure, romance, comedy  read more

Both featured supernatural beings that bring chaos to the world, enemy/enemies of the week style (Stands and Clow Cards). Both main characters (Jotaro and Sakura) use their powers (Star Platinum and Sakura Cards) to defeat all enemy targets (in JoJo Part 3, the MC must defeat a stand user by "retiring" them while in CCS, the MC must capture them). Plus, there are sidekicks who are helping them to finish their mission (JoJo Part 3 has Joseph Joestar, Jean-Pierre Polnareff, and Noriaki Kakyoin while in CCS has Keroberos, Tomoyo Daidouji and Li Syaoran). Two series with differences of audence, of execution and perspective. Both show us a girl with a big heart who receives a power, which she should use for the good and also to collect cards / points, following the orders of a magical being. The thing gets complicated when she is constantly in trouble, but, all that happens to make a test of a greater power that can get their hands. The question is: Will be able to do this mission? The most notable differences are that in CCS, there is not much risk, and in MS Ikusei they can lose their lives.

Both follow the magical girl formula to a T. Both have an episodic format that is heavily structured. Both have a similar art-style with bright colors and a generally cheerful appearance. CCS is more than 20 years older. It is accordingly slower paced. Mewkledreamy is more "hyper", and its "cute" factor is way more extreme than CCS.

Honestly surprised this hasn't been reccomended before. Both follow the premise of "problem of the week", not necessarily always a monster/clow card but just in general some sort of problem that troubles the charming main charactes. My Melo is alot more comedic and tends to go for a more slice of life tone compared to CCS, but even without the action moments it's still a joy to watch for the comedy alone. CCS is more story focused, there's a sense of progression (albeit slow) and higher stakes with the "monster" of the week. (the clow card) Depending on who you are that may or may not turn  read more

Utena is usually considered a mahou shoujo anime, and Sakura is undoubtly a one. While Utena is very deep and not aimed for kids at all, Sakura is more light hearted, but it doesn't make it worse. Sakura has some very deep moments, sometimes even usage of symbolism just like Utena, and there were times I was watching Sakura and wasn't sure if it's Sakura or Utena. Many scenes look the exact same. And if it isn't enough, both are the most queer anime ever. I think Sakura is even more queer than Utena, so it's VERY queer.

Although the storyline is different, the same characters are present and are considerably younger. This series is fun, but doesn't contain the same action-packed adventures as in Tsubasa Chronicle, andconsists of a more 'mild' type of action. However, in the Tsubasa OVA's there are some hints pertaining to this anime, which simply adds to the spice of it all and makes you wonder how linking both anime's together adds to the storyline. Overall this is a fun and enjoyable series and I suggest that all were to watch it. If you're a fan of Sakura, Syaoran, Tomoyo, and the rest of the old gang, you'll find  read more

You'll notice the similarities of two particular characters: Sakura and Meiling from CCS and Sora and May from KS. Both Sakura and Sora have this great aura of optimism and determination that seems to change people around them. As a result, Meiling and May, who come off as annoying, loud-mouth girls who provide the humor in the shows, cannot be completely hated even though you really want to hate them because no matter how they act towards Sakura and Sora respectively, they are the type of characters who cannot bear a grudge. Pretty similar anime. The main character is also a little girl with special power that enable her to fight for protecting another people. Such as Sakura does, Shana finds a boy who will fight at her side and falls in love with him. The main trouble, besides the enemies (of course), is Shana/Sakura doesn't find the way to get as close as she wishes to her beloved one. Hope you like it!

Lighthearted and highly popular mahou shoujo series that fans of both series will easily enjoy. It should be noted that Precure is focused more on a group of girls with magical powers rather than just one like in Cardcaptor Sakura. While occasionally dramatic, both shows are a lot of fun to watch and will have you laughing and falling in love with the characters all the while. Just don't be expecting any themes of love from Smile.

Both are essentially aimed at children, though it is still deep enough for adults to enjoy (they are both better, in my experience, than other anime which was meant to be directed at adults). They both have the same feel, there cute characters haveto solve supernatural mysteries which appear in normal life. Generally episodically solving it by the end. Don't be fooled, there are serious character development and good plots along with some humour and mostly fun.

Code geass is a completely different type of anime. CCS is full of feelings and inoscense, but Code Geass is full of intelligence and fight. I am just recommending this anime because it was created by the same people, CLAMP. In my opinion, Code Geass is their master piece and CCS is their most lovable creation. This will be a good recommendation only for those that loved (as I did) CLAMP's art. Hope you like it!

Magical girl series that are similarly cute, don't involve fighting (as a major activity, in Sakurar's case), and are very idealistic. They create engrossing plots and loveable characters without straying from the essence of their genre.

They may have different premise but both series give off a similar vibe when it comes to magical and supernatural elements. The main female character gets herself involved with various events that brings about the full potential of her abilities. At the same time, they are easily able to make friends with others and develop meaningful relationships with them. Expect action, comedy, and some bits of emotional factors during various episodes. Other characters also influence the stories with their roles either directly or indirectly. I recommend both series for anyone interested in a magical academy with all sort of charming wonders with its characters.

Gakkou no Kaidan is the horror version of Cardcaptor Sakura. Two girl protagonists who lost their moms when they were very young encounter the supernatural during the school and have to fight it with a creature that guides them on how to do so. Sakura is the cute and childish version of the story, with Sakura catching all the Clow Cards, and Gakkou no Kaidan is the scary version with Satsuki putting all the dangerous ghosts into spiritual sleep. Both series revolve around phenomena that managed to escape from their seals and must be sealed again.
