The characters are quite similar,
Naruto is like Inuyasha, both stupid, loud, but possessing hidden power, descendants of extremely powerful characters.
Sakura is like Kagome, always walking next to the main character and acting a bit harsh, often bullying the main and causing the main to have feelings for them.
Sasuke, like Sesshomaru, is the main opponent, cold and always stronger than the main, not a righteous side nor a villain.
Jiraiya is like Miroku, they both guide the main in thinking, they all love beautiful girls, they are all perverted
Orochimaru is like Naraku, both are villains, has a rather eccentric personality and has gender issues, white skin like a ghost, or gives birth to disgusting things from his body.
In particular, both stories have costumes and landscapes similar to ancient Japan, influenced by generations of Samurai, and both stories talk about the image of a beast with many tails, the Kyuubi by Naruto and Kirara by Inuyasha. read more

I have recommended these two because, in terms of story-wise, I strongly believe they are pretty similar. Despite their appearance as just an innocent shounen show for kids to watch, it has pretty deep significance. Though it might follow the adventures of two amazing main protagonists as they battle against their own destiny and fate which was unfair from the moment they were brought into the world, it might also feel like a cliché that someone would say just to attract you into thinking that anime is light-hearted. As a matter of fact, it is indeed not light-hearted as it shows the most gruesome acts of people under the act of 'the villain'. So, I suggest watching these two amazing animes when you feel like you want to improve yourself spiritually or you just want to tackle the red string of fate that keeps you locked up from freedom. Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu and naruto have some similarities: "betrayal and friendship"

The MC have different traits but they have the same dark past, one of them is always motivated and the another want to sleep all day.
sasuke and sion are the same, both of them are good friend of MC but they have different traits

after picking up FMA, it's difficult in finding an anime with such a riveting storyline and appealing characters. Naruto was the series managed to satisfy a new anime craze for me. Admittingly enough the story is not as tight as FMA, there is somethign about the series which draws you in and it's worth picking up

with an interesting plot and surprising twists, it's a perfect anime for someone who likes a lengthy story... although it is not for the faint hearted with a few bloodied scenes.
the story starts with a confusing scene that draws the viewer in, and it explains the characters lives at an understandable pace... definitely an anime that makes you care about the characters enough that you want to shout at them to get up if they get knocked down... 
very much the way Naruto makes you feel. (at least, it makes me feel that way!)
it not just that though... this anime is laced with Japanese folklore for people who like stories with a bit of truth in them. That is... a bit anyway...
however, this is not the reason I chose to continue watching this anime. I actually love the lessons they knock into you e.g. "those who abandon their mission are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum"- Hatake Kakashi read more

Both fairly known Animes, character focus, and a lot of action. If you're getting into anime from Naruto, I'd suggest Full Metal Alchemist. Not only for the action, for the love, comedy, and general mood of it.

Both "Naruto" and "Fullmetal Alchemist" are series that easily are classified as mere fighting animes. In both cases I would disagree with the "mere"-part. Both of these animes have plenty of fights, but the also have the ability to go deeper in a way that will make them appreciated not only by adolescents, but by adults as well, and as such they both represent the cream of the crop of fighting anime.

Both JUMP series.
Orochimaru is similarly dark to Muzan.
Both have great OST's, characters, world building and stories.

similar lovable hectic protagonist who yearns to be acknowledged. both shoyo and naruto possess a fatal physical flaw that stands between them and their goal, but instead of dwelling on attempts to fix what can't be fixed, they search for effective ways to weaponize and use it to their advantage. naturally, a black haired depressed rival guy comes with the package.

Naruto was probably influenced by Saint Seiya's concept of lower class soldiers fighting and defeating those of higher hierarchy. The upper class soldiers notably underestimates their lower class opponents and are overcome.

Naruto is about a Ninja who is looked down on because he had the Demon Fox sealed inside of him. He progresses afterwards so he became famous in his home town. It's similar to pokemon because Ash wasn't good when the series started. He just had patience and was not lazy to achieve his dream, just like Naruto

There are some very similar characters in these two anime (Naruto/Sakuragi and Sasuke/Rukawa).They have similar humor.  However, Slam Dunk is a sports-anime and Naruto is about ninjas. They are both PG-13, but I think Slam Dunk has more depth.

- both lost their best friends because of this evil person and both dedicated their lives to find and destroy the person
- both never had any friend until they a guy came into their life. ( naruto and sauka, and teito and Mikage.
- both great and addicting animes.

Shingeki no Kyojin addpermalink

So ever since I started watching Naruto - I've read the manga, and only recently decided to give the anime a go - I've been, for some reason, unconsciously comparing it to Shingeki no Kyojin - my all-time favourite manga.

After the first episode of Naruto, I gave the show an 8. It was good. I'll give you that. The majority of anime don't get any more than a 6 from me usually. Shingeki no Kyojin, after the first episode, also got an eight. But I only changed that 8 to a 9 after the tenth Naruto episode, while Shingeki no Kyojin's eight turned into an immediate 10 after the second episode. Now, why is that? I'll try and explain.

Firstly: sfx and music. The atmosphere set up in Shingeki no Kyojin by the music accompaniments is absolutely flawless. In Naruto, I find that those things aren't as good. Some of the sfx and music are cliché. A lot of the 'touching' moments are filmed in such a terrible way that I couldn't decide if the show-makers intended us to understand it an a parodied way or a serious way. Maybe that's just me. But oh well, we all have our personal opinions.

Secondly: characters. This may be because I've read the manga previously, but I feel that the characters in Naruto, from the very first episodes of the manga, are very predictable, excepting a few choice moments. In SNK, there is no such thing. Every new development is a surprise. Every twist, every turn of the wrist and every trip decision comes as a complete shock.

Thirdly: direction of plot. One of the first things we hear Naruto say is that he wants to become the next Hokage. Since the show is named after him, we can safely assume, even from the first episode, that he will surmount all the coming obstacles and ascend to the position of Godaime no matter what obstacles lie in his path. I like the show, I really do. BUT THAT'S BORING. I don't like 'predictable' things - one of the reasons I prefer Shingeki no Kyojin. With SNK's plot, and with its developments, we have no idea whether or not killing the titans will ever be achieved. The main character's - Eren's - goal is to discover the outside world, and to do that he has to destroy the titans. He has no choice in the matter. It's that or getting killed. But with the number of deaths within the main characters and supporting characters, we could just as well safely assume that he'll get killed himself before he can even find out what the heck it was that his father left in his basement. Hell, even as I speak, Eren is being held captive in some rich guy's basement and about to be eaten by one of his best friends. And there seems to be no possible way out of it. A lot of the fans agree that it's possible he - the main character - will die. Naruto dying? Not possible. Never even considered. There can be no NARUTO without Naruto.

Fourthly: this last one is personal taste, but I tend to prefer really serious mangas/animes with very few comic relief (Sacha and Connie are two of the only comic relief characters in SNK, while ALL of Naruto's characters provide comic relief), heavy plot, manipulations, intrigues, and whatnot. I find that Naruto (the show, not the character, because Naruto Uzumaki is one of the characters I relate to the most in any anime) has TOO much comic relief, and takes TONNES away from the beauty and intensity that could be the show.

There's more, but I can't think how to put it into words. I tried my best not to give any SNK spoilers. No names.

(alright for the record if i compare the Persona 5 animation i also at the same time mean to compare the game but video games ain't in the myanimelist so this will have to do)  Persona 5 and Naruto have little similarity in albeit certain details...the Joker and Naruto  each start out being ostracized and gossiped against...Joker with a false criminal record /Naruto with the 9 tails...both of them set out to make a difference  and strive to become heroes...both of them make a point to reform their enemies ...also Joker starts out with a squad similar to the squad Naruto starts out with  the comrades...Ryuji  like Sasuke is an angry guy who is the protagonist's best friend..Ann  like Sakura  is the girly preppy of the team the first female team member in the group  Ann is nice to Joker but Sakura is mean to Naruto but never the less in a team of 3 (Team 7 and the Joker, Ryuji, Ann trio) they bear some similarity  ..also  Joker like Sasuke is dark haired and is brooding and cool headed while Ryuji like Naruto is  blonde and rowdy and brash and kind of a knuckle head  read more

Looking for another story about a hot-headed protagonist, who also happens to be short,  blonde and an orphan?
Look no further than Edward Elric and the anime series's Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist : Brotherhood.
Unlike Naruto who is searching for his place in his village, Ed is searching for something else, but both characters fight through the hardest of times to get what they're looking for.

I watched yugioh and was recommended this, assuming I wouldn't like it and yugioh would be the only anime I ever watched. Naruto is equally as good and still contains a magical element just as yugioh did. The first episode is amazing, and the second and third are good also. 

I'm about halfway through episode 4 and I thought I would recommend this to other yugioh fans looking for something else to watch. I'm alternating between the 2 now :)

The main characters are both fools who want to reach for the top of their respective fields. They usually use their innate talent and determination to break through the barriers set by their peers, who look down on them. The main characters are arrogant and see themselves in high regards. All of their teammates see themselves as on their level or above their level. There's that girl who admires the ignorant main character without their knowledge.

Their protagonist is a precocious young ninja who is misunderstood and feared by others. 

Also, both characters use similar ninja techniques (look at the picture for "Ninku's" entry; that kid definitely has a big 'ol handful of rasengan).

Well the charcters on these show are similar. Naruto acts like genta, Sasuke acts like Alvis, Shikamaru acts like jack, and sakura acts like snow as well as hinata.
They act the same by the way they fight, their attitude towards people, and their efforts to others as well as fight.
Naruto is similar to Genta by the way they fight, the fight even if they might not be able to win in the end. The eat alot as well like someone who likes some on else.
Sasuke is like Alvis because of their same atitude towards people. They don't wantto show any weakness toward the one the are rivals with.
 Sakura and Hinta re like Snow, because they like some one who either likes them back or dosen't. They are as similar as one can be.
Shikamaru is most like jack because they really don't feel like doing any work at all. Most people would do what they are told but these two are different because they will argue with the person and then end up doing it. They also don't feel like fighting some one stronger than them.

Similar stories, except Kingdom have no magical or supernatural elements. Both Naruto and Xin in Kingdom are orphans. They are strong, and both have the same lack of respect for rank and formal authority. Naruto dreams about being a hokage and respected by all. Xin has the same dream, except he wants to be the greatest general. Iruka is the big-brother figure in Naruto and the first one to really see Naruto’s strength. That’s Heiki in Kingdom. He, like Iruka, isn’t not one of the overwhelmingly strong characters, but he cares about and watches over Xin. Shikamaru is the smart friend, Xin has Kario Ten and Mou Ten (And I guess Shika’s dad would be Shoheikun in Kingdom). Jiraya is Naruto’s strong mentor, but Xin has Ou Ki. I could go on much longer, like Ou Hon is the aloof and antagonistic noble in Kingdom, that might become a friend in the future, just like Neiji is in Naruto. read more
