I'm Chris, but my online aliases are Nymphetamine2791 and ChrisCrossCrash. Outside of televised anime I watched as a kid, I became immersed into it around 15 thanks to my sister.
My anime list score distribution was higher from when I initially joined MAL, but I've tried re-scoring based on how much I remember enjoying a series. My average has shifted slightly, but I'm sure it still skews higher than the normal. My scores are based off personal enjoyment, and generally speaking, I still enjoyed a series if I scored it a 7. Back in high school/early college, my 7 scores were more than likely 8s, but I'm trying to emphasize more on when I watch a series I feel is a 9 or 10, rather than belittle my 7s and 8s.
I'm all for anime recommendations and open discussions on any topic, but I do not accept random friend requests.
To my Clannad fans:
"If you knew the real me, it would shatter your illusion."
"Then come on. Shatter my illusion. Because I don't know what else I can do to stop loving you."
--NANA
"I don't want to bother you, but if there's a chance, I will never give up... because what I'm afraid of most is not getting an answer..."
--Amagami - Love Goes On!
"Knocking others down to gain an advantage is a fruitless endeavor. It means they've given up on winning any other way."
--ReLIFE
"If someone were to ask me when I fell in love with her, I wouldn't be able to answer. The best I'd be able to come up with is "it just happened at some point, but I didn't realize it." If someone were to ask me why I love her, though, then I could answer much more easily."
--Katawa Shoujo
"I just want to sleep and eat. I should have been born as a panda in a zoo!"
--Bakuman 2
"When you're up high, all the stuff that looks confusing and messed up... suddenly becomes crystal clear."
--Senna from Bleach: Memories of Nobody
"Humans don't see what they don't want to see. No one wants to be put down. That's why people do nothing even when they do know something is happening."
--Highschool of The Dead
"This is like the Alamo!"
"Didn't the Alamo fall?"
"I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT!"
--Highschool of The Dead
"You think that you can strike me down if you suppress Ryūjin Jakka? How naive. How dizzyingly naive. Why do you think that I held the position of Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13 for a thousand years? It is because, in a thousand years, no Shinigami stronger than myself has been born."
--Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto from Bleach
"Hey, are you sure about choosing me?"
"Yeah, I think you've turned me into a masochist."
--Itazura na Kiss
"There is no tree that won't fall after you chop it ten times. Chop it well. If you do, then the tree might fall today or even tomorrow."

My Personality Test:
High school to early college:
"INFJs, making up an estimated 1% of all people, are the most rare type (males even more so). They are introspective, caring, sensitive, gentle and complex people that strive for peace and derive satisfaction from helping others. INFJs are highly intuitive, empathetic and dedicated listeners. These traits tend to act as a "tell me what's wrong" sign on their forehead, hence the nicknames Confidant, Counselor or Empath. INFJs are intensely private and deeply committed to their beliefs. "

hey just passing by, I just wanted to say I hope you are doing well.
I'm at the age where you were also watching anime and I find it fascinating that you still watch anime after high school and college.
Of course. I'm actually the same way, if I pick up a game I commit to beating it before moving on. Doesn't feel right to just stop mid one and move on to another one. I guess that somewhat carries over to other things too, like binge watching anime. Much easier to watch 12 eps than to beat a 100 hour game like you said lol.
Each game is a complete separate story and you wouldn't miss anything by jumping straight to 5. There is like 1 or 2 recurring characters and very minor things from previous games which might act as hints for mysteries, but they are minor and don't change anything, just give you the "oh that's why" moment if you even notice them. Like 4 has some of the characters from 3 timeskipped who you recognize which might add to experience.
Also to add, I can really relate to binging anime instead of gaming. I think that is just because there haven't been many games that really compete for time. Persona 5 did that for me really well. When I got the game I got really into it and stopped whatever I was watching at the time lol.
I rarely still come across games that I can immerse into. Persona 5 from last year is an example, that one really hit close to what I want to see in RPGs. I am also pretty hyped about Dragon Quest XI which will be coming out in a couple of months.
I actually never looked into the history of it, but I guess it makes sense. Not a hardcore fan either so I never looked into it or the debates lol. I just play because I like the games, but I did start noticing the changes after FFX when they started moving away from turn based battle. I don't know if you played FFXV but it was really noticeable there. Like very repetitive fetch and slay side quests, pathetic magic system with like 3 different spells (if you can even call them different), etc. It feels like they are now just releasing stunning eye candy.
Yeah I heard music was really good, Liberi Fatali sound track is actually one of my favorites which I found out was from it. Although you can probably say that for any FF game lol. Its a shame that materia system was not carried over. From what was shown for the FF7 remake it seems it wont be carried over there either which is a real shame imo. I really dislike how all of the recent games have completely simplified the battle to just hack and slash type combat. If you say the story was good then it might be worth giving it a shot sooner than later though.
FF8 is actually one of the games I haven't played but it has been on my games to play list for over a decade. Maybe I should pick it up already haha. xD
Oh really, I guess I'm and exception to the whole wanting to grow up thing. I haven't really felt that way when I was younger, I recall explicitly thinking how it would suck to grow out of my high school years. Maybe before then but I don't remember anymore.
What final fantasy games are you revisiting? With the FF7 remake hype I've been itching for some FF as well and considering replaying or picking up one that I haven't played yet.
Yeah closures are rare in anime these days haha. I have been doing ok, a bit conscious that life is flying by so I found a lot of things I could relate to and enjoyed it as well. Having all the knowledge I do now would have definitely be helpful earlier in life. What about you? What have you been up to?
Hi Nymph. Did you like ReLIFE? They released Specials with an ending for it which I thought was really good. You should check it out if you enjoyed the original series.
When he stood up I bursted out laughing, totally expected some development there and he was like nope. I really liked the ending as well, the drama mid series was a bit of a turn off but it really made up towards the end.
Lol Yes, all of that. I died inside during that one cave scene. If that wasn't dedication I don't know what is. I really hoped they would run away too, but sadly the story had to continue.
