If you liked the animation and motifs found in "Card Captor Sakura," you're sure to fall in love all over again with CLAMP's animation "Kobato." The animation style keeps that unique CLAMP feel to it, brought to life with a great voice cast and a storyline that will have you laughing one moment and then reaching for a Kleenex the next. This anime is a great watch for anyone who is looking for a little bit of angelic magic. :3

Also by CLAMP, similar character appearance (Chiho and Chi) and environment design (esp the apartment)... also got this Picture Book arc but with different story... and both are wonderful stories

Both of the main characters are extremely optimistic people. Both series contain some romance. Both series are somewhat funny slice-of-life anime with drama sprinkled around. Both have some fantasy elements with them.

I'm amazed that Violet Evergarden reminded me of Kobato. In both series there is a female character in the main role helping out other people that they come close with during their travels. Main characters are kind of opposite in their personality but they are earnest and that's nice to see what they learn.

Both anime are light hearted stories about a young girl (not a child) interacting with others, while they work in their chosen profession. Both also have elements of fantasy.

Both by CLAMP. Plus Kobato even has an episode that featues Syaoran, Fay, and Kurogane (and the comparison of voice actors is hilarious).

The simularities between the two story lines are in some ways frigtening. While they are different, there is that sameness about them, that makes one think. Both are ironically done by clamp, both have magical girls, and they collect stuff in a jar, trying to be able to achieve that special thing. They have stuffed animals around their sides, and Koboto's main two characters have simularities in looks those from Nanatsuiro Drops, except in Koboto, they have longer hair.

Both main characters are good-natured, kind-hearted, likeable girls with a little bit of a ditzy side. Love interests are a bit detached but grow as people once they meet the main character. Interesting plots with a supernatural side to it.
report Recommended by Aukren
Both endings are really sweet and touching. If you loved Clannad then you will love Kobato too.

The overall tone of the shows is very identical in tone, as in they're very bittersweet shows. Funny, yet a bit sad.

Both girls like to sing and have as best friends stuffed animals. Both animes have romance and a bit of magic, fantasy genre.
report Recommended by Orulyon
The main girl and boy from both anime have the same vibe. Especially since Kobato and Misuzu are always tripping and main boys always being tough with them. Both are very cute Anime

Both series are tearjerkers with a plot revolving around all the hard work put in so that a girl can have her wish granted. There are other similarities as well that I will not mention due to spoilers.
report Recommended by Numi
they're similar because they both have a cold guy who begins to gradually open his heart up to a naiive, spirited girl. though itazura na kiss is more of a slice of life, both anime have some comedy and tell a beautiful love story

There both anime about kindergarten and relationship between teachers.

Both Gakuen Alice and Kobato have similar humor, and characters. Mikan and Kobato are innocent, kind hearted, clumsy, and a bit stupid. Natsume Hyuga and Kiyokazu Fujimoto, they are sarcastic, both are concern for Mikan/Kobato though they didn't show it. Then there's Ruka and Doumoto, they are kind-hearted, they like Mikan/Kobato and both of them are childhood friends or Natsume/Kiyokazu. The stories both have magic and helping other people. So if you like these characters, you may want to try watching this.

They are both made by the same author and have a similar feeling. They both have supernatural elements and take place in the same universe and have great stories. They're mysterious and interesting, though quite different.
report Recommended by JungTaco
Both of the main characters are trying to help others within the story. Both are not what they appear. The feel is very whimsical and dreamy. Characters strive for a difficult goals, and also have similar personality.

A young girl and a guy in the 18-20 range live/work together while facing off against threats of their workplace being shut down. In Kobato's case, Kobato and Fujimoto are neighbors and work together at a children's nursery whose owner has debt issues. In Ikoku Meiro no Croisee's case, Yune is Claude's live-in maid at a signboard shop in the Galerie du Roy where a lot of small, privately owned shops are gradually (or severely) losing business to new, larger businesses in the area.

Both are really nice stories about girls living at their own, trying to reach their dreams while making mistakes all the time. Both have really cute and determind protagonist.

Space and time, multiple universes, fragments/pieces, memory-loss, magic, indirect romance, kawaiiness, GP-rated moeness, CGDCT, if plot elements like these are what you're looking for, then look no further with Houkago no Pleiades and Kobato. Both of these anime has space and time concepts, as Houkago no Pleiades deals with multiverses in quite the same way as CLAMP's universe for Kobato-- space and time with magic, if I may add. Much more, both of these seem to be looking for "fragments" that looks like sugar candies, with the former on engine fragments, and the latter on konpeito. Still not satisfied? Then both main characters also deal with  read more

Kobato and Ai, despite their age difference, are both airheads, but have a deeper feel to them, once you get to know them better. They both have a goal they must pursue and reach, while their journey leaves them with horrible, unthinkable scars, on their pure souls. Kobato is slightly more "happy" than Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi

Very gutsy female protagonists who stand up for what they believe in, they are also very passionate and vulnerable at the same time. The male protagonists and female MC relationships develop in a nice amount of time and isn't rushed. Both extremely funny series which both can get serious on some aspects. Both HILARIOUS

Both have a similar feeling. They provide an ideal world, and both have a carefree main protagonist.

kobato and shugo chara aren't that similar in particular parts, however there are some similaries *Both have a heroine who helps others when their hearts have negativity/sadness in them *Both heroines have some kind of companion (s) who help them in some way *Both contain hints of romance *both contain a bit of supernatural and real life elements
report Recommended by Animelover820
Contains similar plot such as achieving the task that has been given to them in order for their wish to be granted. "Kobato." is an anime while "Colorful" is a movie.

Fantasy, magic, supernatural. A bit of romance. Similar feeling while watching. Nice-looking. Both definitely worth watching!
report Recommended by TenderRain91
I'm not going to say that it's that "similar," but both of main characters Kobato and Yato have to help people in oder to achieve their dreams. Both have fantasy and comedy, but the difference is that Noragami is more focused on action while Kobato is more focused on romance.

Each has a main character whom has a mission/wish to fulfill. They both experience the feelings of love and go through a journey with the people around them. Both main characters also try and help the people around them (Ange helps the people around her and a universe whereas Kobato helps people around her) They also have a plushy and are both similar in personality :)
report Recommended by Satsuyo
Although both of the plots are nothing alike except for the fact that each fall into the fantasy genre and are pretty slow paced, they both gave me a very similar vibe. Both anime are extremely relaxing and just joyful to watch. While watching Kemono no Souja Erin, I was having a rough time irl and I fell in love with this anime because of how it relieved my anxiety and let me escape to this beautiful, magical world. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Kemono no Souja Erin, so if you liked the feeling Kobato gave I extremely recommend you to watch this anime.

Both deal with ephemeral or liminal girls who fall in love with tragic male protagonists who both realize almost too late that the girl who was in front of them the whole time was the one they truly love. Both have fairly sad final plot arcs, but Video Girl Ai is more grimdark, whereas Kobato's offers more hope/a second chance in it's epilogue.

The actual content of these two shows differs greatly—one heavily incorporates fantasy elements and the other is much more slice of life—but I think they give off the same type of vibe. Kobato. and Looking Up at the Half-Moon are both sweet love stories with similarly understated art. Both usually fall on the humorous side of things but can easily make you cry. The main characters are very focused on the healing of those around them rather than on themselves, and the love stories featured have limited time to blossom. I love both series and find them to be heartwarming & delightful.

- Both feature a somewhat naive but good-natured female lead - Both mains are Magical Girls to some extent, although Heartcatch is more obvious with it - Both feature cute plushie-like sidekicks to teach the mains about their responsibilities - Both involve themes of resolving conflicts in order to collect certain items (heart seeds and confetti respectfully) for a larger end goal
report Recommended by Atsunome
- Both Kobato and Nozomi are teachers (well, technically Kobato isn’t qualified) and often have to resolve the kids’ conflicts in episodes - Both leads are a little on the air-head side but still mean well - Both involve supernatural elements, although Otona’s are more pronounced
report Recommended by Atsunome
Both definitely fit the mold of the modern Magical/Mysterious Girl formula created by Urusei Yatsura years ago. Both feature mysterious otherworldly women who come to Earth on a mission and end up falling in love with all the consequences that it entails for their lives and lovers. I think many fans of Hanato Kobato or the Goddess Belldandy will likely find the other appealing, I heartily recommend either to fans of SoL, Romance, or Magical Girl Animes, both also contain elements of Supernatural/Divine drama as well.

The main girls of these two series affects the lives of the people around them by spreading joy and positivity to heal their wounded hearts.

Both series have a very energetic protagonist who changes the world around them for the better, both are heart warming and feel-good in a way though Kobato. is way sadder.

In some ways the endings are quite similar. Both animes have main characters trying to follow their wish; In Pita Ten its Misha trying to become and angel, in Kobato its Kobato trying to get to a place she wants to go to. Both main character have very long hair and are very cute. Both have a male character who dislike the main character but softens up to her, In Kobato its Fujimoto, in Pita Ten its Kotarou.

In both anime a big secret is reveled at the end, and also in both has to do with a person that was with the protagonist.

While Kobato is more shoujo and Letter bee more shounen, they have some things in common: Both main charas, Lag and Kobato are naive and emotional characters. They both have a mission which consists in helping people. While Lag delivers Letters who are fragments of heart of people, Kobato must fill a bottle with fragments of suffering hearts. The fragments are similar in the two animes: little shiny forms. They also are accompanied by their "guardians", Niche and Ioryogi. The goal is also very look like: both Kobato and Lag must complete their mission in order to be able to go to a certain place  read more

The two have the plot centered about heaven, reborn, love and friendship. In both there´s also a goal that the main ones have to fulfill so they can go to another place. Also, Kanade and Kobato are voiced by the same voice actress.

Both are cute, relatively simplistic series that manage to surprise you with solid character development and a charming mix of humor, drama, and romance. Being CLAMP works, they share many stylistic similarities as well. Also, also, you get to see the super-awesome Piffle Princess store in both shows~! It apparently sells everything you'd ever want to buy.

Well, Skip Beat's atmosphere is very energetic, while on the other side Kobato's atmosphere is very sweet. Althought: - both main female characters (Kobato and Kyoko) are very positive and cheerful and want to realize a dream/reach a goal. Kobato wants to fulfill her bottle in order to reach "that place", and Kyoko wants to become famous in order to take her revenge on her ex-boyfriend. - but during their adventures to reach their goal, both girls meet a main male character and will, little by little, develope love or anyway strong feelings for those. - both series are romantic shoujo genre. Soft fluffy romance that makes the heart sing. The main female character have similar personalities and the relationship has its awkward moments.

The fact that the main character in both anime tries to help others overcome usually emotional issues makes both series very similar. Both are of the fantasy genre with magic here and there.

The one Anime is like a dark version of Kobato. The main character has a rather mild personality, similar hair color and works with the fantastical elements.

They're both really sweet romantic anime, kobato is about a girl who is trying to fulfill her wish by helping ppl. Their character is pretty similar since they are both clueless when it comes to love.

You may think what the heck how are they alike? Well, the premise pretty much echos one another. They both include the uncommon theme of older girls with magical powers, and both main characters end up vowing to 'use Earth sympathy powers to save everyone' no matter how touching, preachy, or cheesy you may think that is. Your mileage may vary with both shows if the Earth sympathy type of awakening thing bugs the crap out of you or you get irritated anybody should even suggest that you should become more like I don't know...(the Amish, Saints, or Indians) or god forbid, that  read more

Both series are about girls that have been appeared in this world not without the aid of magic. Both heroines are very resilient. Though their life situations are different, they look somehow similar to me. Finals of these series also have some similarities (on my opinion)

Major conflict in both stories involve the protagonists fighting to prevent their homes from being destroyed and remodeled.

Both have: - A hidden past - Romantic scene - a goal to reach (for the main characters) - Supernatural/special abilities - interesting plot/storyline - highly attractive/addictive to anyone - very touching, some or most series are sad - cute characters :) Both endings are really sweet.

The series deal with magic and the two main character girls are simply kind and caring along with adorable and plus the two main voice actors in Kobato are also in Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: Natsu no Sora. And there is a grumpy guy in both of them , in a way the animes are the same but also different but only the same when it comes to the characters but still very fantasy and magical.

Both series emit a sort of nostalgic feeling that makes you feel calm and happy when you watch them (at least for me it did). Kobato and Sawako are socially awkward but in a good way; they are both naive, honest, and very considerate of others but they can be a bit overdramatic exceeding others' expectations. To a certain extent both are slice of life animes, although Kobato's got Clamp's usual magical elements and cross-over characters and Todoke's got Sawako's Sadako (the Ring, if you know what I mean) misunderstanding. The nostalgic feeling, lovable characters, cute plots, and the comedic moments would surely make you  read more

Both are about young girls looking for their place in the world while doing something very unusual and being unusual themselves. Kobato is collecting hearts to reach a certaing goal, Yurie is traing to be a real god but both of them keep their childish innocence and view on life even though their jobs are quite difficult and very serious and important. Makoto's personality is very similar to Kobato. Loving, caring, and always find the good inside people's heart. Gintarou and Ioroyogi are so similar. Protecting their partner and always getting mad at them XD. Cool and powerful. They may fight and get on each others nerve, but in the end of the day it's all good.
