While Kobato is more shoujo and Letter bee more shounen, they have some things in common: Both main charas, Lag and Kobato are naive and emotional characters. They both have a mission which consists in helping people. While Lag delivers Letters who are fragments of heart of people, Kobato must fill a bottle with fragments of suffering hearts. The fragments are similar in the two animes: little shiny forms. They also are accompanied by their "guardians", Niche and Ioryogi.
