Similar naive and happy-go-lucky heroines that are Goody two shoes and only think in other´s well being.
Slice of life moments of the heroines daily lives helping/healing people around them.
Drama and Romance involving main characters and supporting characters too.
Both also have supernatural elements: cursed people who transform into animals and for a similar reason: one of them (the dog in kobato, the cat in Furuba) angered God and for that all of them were punished.
Both main characters, Kobato and Tohru, are very optimistic and have sweet hearts. They seem to be able to cheer up everyone around and both want to be helpful.
kobato is similar to tohru but a bit more stubborn

Fruits Basket has a secret type feel. In the manga Toru wants to break the Soma curse. Fruits Basket is cute and the main character is ditzy and clumsy just like Kobato.

The main characters in both the anime are very similar in that they appear to be slightly dumb, but really, they are very sweet and have the most incredibly positive spirit. On top of that, the overall heart-warming feeling you get from watching Fruits Basket is the same feeling you get from watching Kobato.
Kobato and Fruits Basket both have lovable, overly-polite female protagonists that have a strong desire to help those around them. These protagonists really make these animes some of the best of the shoujo genre.
