If your a Code Geass fan you should love Death Note as I feel they are both similar character wise. In both, the main character gets a power to assist them in changing the world for the better in their views from a party whom follows them for the duration of the series. While doing so, they both gain followers who support their ideals. While this happens, a force attempt to fight the main character and discover their true identity. Both resemble a game of chess as the main character fights to knock out all obsticles in their way to have their ideas reality.

Guilty Crown is more like R2 than Code Geass 1st season. The main character is thrust into a politically unstable Japan where he himself vows to change the nation his own way by his own methods (which are needless to say at times cruel). He has a power only he can use and uses it to further his own ambitions. (Geass with Lelouch and Void extraction with Shu) He is also leader of an anti-government faction. He also has a quiet female that supports him on the side. (Pizza girl in Geass and Inori in Guilty Crown) I do not want to  read more

Similar themes of human oppression and struggle. Both Lelouch and Eren seek to lead freedom movement in their own way. But unlike Lelouch whose character has elements of negativity, Eren is mostly a positive character.

The strength of these shows lies in the charming and cool characteristics that the protagonist exudes. Spike from Cowboy Bebop is exhibits the chill and relaxed type of cool, while Lelouch from Code Geass shows more charisma and passion in his goals. Also, both shows have fights in different mode, such as gun fights, mecha fights (in CB, it's space ship), and clash of ideals. Both anime are praised for its epic ending, even from haters. Did I mention that both are made by Sunrise?

Both are very exciting anime, with lots of plot-twists, well-made and rich stories, great voice acting and lots of thrills. In Steins;Gate you get to see time-travel and all its effects on the human mind and its possibilities. While in Code Geass you see the ambition of a young man who gets the power to command anyone to do anything and manages to create an uprising against an empire (Britannia).

They're both about ambitious, tactical geniuses, although LotGH is a much more grounded & believable series imo.

Both are mecha animes with very intense epic battles, the story plot between the two are both similar in a way to how they both want to make the world a better place and to become successfull in doing so. Theres quite a bit of mecha action and dramatic suspense with romance here and there, with some comedy to lighten up the moods. Very good animes overall.

Each show deals with friends turning enemies, and deals strongly with death. The fate of the world is determined by the willingness of sacrifice.

Although the plot is a litte different, both main characters are very similar. Hei possesses supernatural powers, wears mask on his missions and hides his true personality exactly like Lelouch. For both the most important are their younger sisters. Yin resembles Anya (similar hairstyle and emotionless). Both C.C. and Amber travel through the time, have many secrects and look alike (green long hairs, similar white clothes).

Both MC's have (kinda) the same power and they both have alot of plot twists

they are both about changing the world and both use mechas as a tool to achieve this goal... although code geass is smarter and has a genius protagonist, gundam offers loads of action and amazing mecha fights

A man with a plan. Who goes all out with their ideals, using all their power to stop at nothing until they have reached the goal they've been waiting for since day one. Full of action and military. Code Geass and AOT finales are something one could call an exemplary spectacle in the animanga medium. Would obviously watch from the beginning with both.

Both deal with someone with a specific view of the World trying to change it. Both have fantastic elements to it (alchemy in Fullmetal and "magic"/mechas in Code Geass) that adds a certain mood to the series. Both are very dramatics stories with lots of twists, but not without their comedic moments. Both are great shows, that will make you think, laugh and perhaps even cry.
report Recommended by Jonijonh
Both feature genius main characters who have a terrorist/rebellious hero alter ego. Both of these alter egos Playmaker and Zero are super popular and charismatic. Both seek revenge for their traumatic past.

- both shows have protagonist’s that are mostly child-to-teen like that shares a common deep, secret pasts and are trying to liberate an area from foreign rule. - both season have more lot of intense, factional plots and counter plots more than their prequel's. - both have a faction that vying for control of different groups trying to exert their will on the grand picture of things. - both anime ended with a similar stereotype ending and epilogue.
report Recommended by RED_BARRET
Both of the protagonists (Lelouch/Koko) are young and very clever people who portray themselves as villains, using illicit methods in order to obtain world peace. The motivations to obtain their goals seem to depend, more or less, on some younger companions (Nunnally/Jonah). Both anime also involve lots of violence and strategies to execute their plans.

Aldnoah R2 is the spiritual successor to Code Geass R2, in my factual opinion. Geass made magic + robots THE in thing, and Aldnoah decided just to have outright magic robots. They are also, quite possibly, the only two series in existence that share an intense hatred of the word 'ORANGE!' Magic robots are not even half of it, though. It is the cliffhangers to end ALL cliffhangers the respective first seasons end with and the highly logical way in which they are continued on from in these sequels that makes them one and the same, along with the shared character dynamics. However, a key difference  read more

There is only one anime I've ever seen which comes close to Code Geass R2 for the "ridiculous trainwreck" factor, and that's Kannazuki no Miko. If you want something so silly you have to laugh your ass off and love it anyway, this is the anime for you.

CG and MKNR deal with issues of discrimination, politics, and military that addresses and affects of what status quo can be and that change is in the need of demand. I find Mahouka Kouka No Rettosei as if what if Tatsuya were to change the world within whereas Lelouch changes it from the outside. Both are badasses who show raw power but in different aspects that revolve around their sisters. Their rivals are no doubt uncanny in terms of looks and personality.

Both are 2nd half of the previous installment and are well regarded in pacing, lore, development, and art. Nasch and Zero are identical with little sisters and rivalry with a white suit donned protag. Also Hope resembles to that of Lancelot.

Both involve a protagonist who is given supernatural powers and creates a masked persona to go by. They both use their newfound powers under their said guises and create a rebel organization dedicated towards fighting the currupt governments and sinister groups respectively. Cid and Lelouch are also very similar in personality. While Cid is also a lot less serious and brooding than Lelouch and tends to act like a fool (both on purpose and accident) but like Lelouch he's got a sadistic side to him. He also implies that he has a master plan that he wants to take himself down to, which Lelouch also  read more

R2 and Arc-V are very similar in tone: they place priority on entertainment and wild aesthetics. Simultaneously both darker and odder than the previous installments of the franchises, the two shows present a wide variety of characters and are always trying to outdo themselves: every episode must be more flashy, more extreme, just plain MORE than the last one. They're fun to watch just to see what kinds of crazy stunts the characters will perform or what kind of didn't-see-that-coming plot twists will happen next. Recommended to those who just want to sit down and be taken on a colorful, crazy ride.

Both are representations of a genius strategist who risks it all to conquer while trying to save the ones they love, and the downfall of their own humanity in the process. While they are wildly different in context, Keima and Lelouch have a surprising amount in common--and, while Code Geass R2 is certainly much more serious and adult, The World God Only Knows S3 is shockingly mature and raw for a harem show even with its comedic context. Highly recommend both shows!

Both leave you wondering why something happened in most episodes and have unexpected series of events. The female character is a mystery in both of them. Mirai Nikki doesn't look as good as Gode Geass but it is really interesting

Both have: - Very good character building. - A big turning point for all of humanity. - Characters shouldering big responsibilities for the world. - Protagonist group labelled as outcast of society. - Story similar to a chess game. Playing with smarts and intelligence to beat their opponents. - Strong brotherhood. - A label "strong" given to those with power to change the world. - A lot of great action and somewhat comedic moments. - Deep rooted ambition.

it is similar because they both involve with Mecha and superpowers. although code Geass is much more intense with great power and manipulative means to achieve something that benefits the whole world not just where they live such as Valvrave. I mean come on wouldn't you want to be able to command someone with the power of the Geass with just a blink of an eye.

For anyone who enjoys seeing many different nationalities represented in an anime, this show is a must! Even though neither of these has a Japanese character as a protagonist, both shows focus a lot on how Japan views the rest of the world and vice versa. Both shows also deal with global politics more or less realistically, and both are also filled with handsomely drawn male characters that'll keep any yaoi-shipper busy.

If you want a better story with mechas, drama, and politics, Code Geass is one for you. An interesting note is that Mcgillis and Suzaku share the same VA and have similarities once you watch through the whole show.

The plots of the two shows are completely different but I can't help but think about how similar my feelings were when I reached the endings of both shows. "Wow, what a long journey. From simple, almost meaningless battles (Humans vs Titans / Black Knights vs Britannia), to storytelling masterpieces. If you enjoy wits, sacrifices, action, strategy, deception, contrasting point of views, plot twists, superpowers and badassery, I reccomend Code Geass.

Both Code Geass R2 and School Days are psychological and thought-provoking animes involving a morally questionable main character who is surrounded by a bunch of girls who want a piece of him. While the plot of these two are completely different, there are some similarities. The main character is the commander of a group. During battle, he/she commands others to do things and outwits the opponent. Both use machines—tanks in GUP and Nightmares in Code Geass. During the battles, the atmosphere is similar, but the shows are completely different outside of the battles.

These anime (Code Geass, Shingeki No Kyojin, and Fate/Zero) deal with this one question sacrifice? Does the sacrifice of a certain amount of people's lives, help in making the world a better and nicer place to live in? One thing I learned from these anime, is that if you have a goal in life you have to make plenty of sacrifices. Sometimes those very sacrifices can hurt you deeply but continue moving and marching forward to the dream you have. We should learn from our mistakes but should not despise them, as those mistakes and experiences are what make you right now. As there are  read more

Way before CG there was MSG HF and it was possible that HF inspired CG since both series have identical themes of revolution, mass murder, tragedy, racism, privilege, tyranny, and moral ambiguity that allowed history to repeat it self from time to time. In Code Geass, the protagonist Lelouch is basically a lot like Koumei in Koutetsu Sangokushi. However the difference is in the characters and tactical analysis--Code Geass's is...deeper. In Koutetsu Sangokushi the characters are bound by the power of the Sovereign/Imperial Seal, wanting to keep it in their possession, but in Code Geass, the "power/supernatural" thing is the geass--a power that differs with each person. Of course I don't want to give anything away so therefore I won't say any more. But a recommendation is to watch the first code geass before the second or else you'll be confused in some parts.

Ever heard great minds think alike? Yoshino is a great thinker, just like Lelouch. Both are powerless when it's hand to hand combat but excel when out thinking opponents. Both Lelouch and Yoshino need the strong opposite in the duo. In Code Geass, ita Suzaku and Zetsuen no Tempest it's Mahiro. Also, I can see a relationship between Suzaku and Nunnally almost like Yoshino and Aika. Lastly,C.C and Hakaze are women with an ability. Mostly recommended for Suzaku fans. This series has a main character who shares many similarities with Kururugi Suzaku: (Spoilers) 1. has committed a great wrong in his past, 2. goes beserk and becomes almost undefeatable when attacked, 3. has a 'curse' upon him such that he can't die. 4. Also spin kicks and cries abundantly. Secondary (female) character of the series also bears some similarities to Kallen. In sum, if you enjoyed watching Suzaku angsting/brooding and trying to find atonement, you'll probably enjoy Casshern Sins.

Both series revolve around a main character who is a genius at playing games. The games are the central theme in no game no life (not the case for code geass). But if you liked the strategies and tactical thinking in one of the series you will most likely like the other one too. The main characters devoted their life to becoming tactical geniuses. They would do anything in order to rule the world and make it a better place.
