GTO and Golden Boy are extremely similar in style and humor - both feature honest and hardworking leads who will go to great lengths to make a difference in another person's life. And both are prone to trouble, especially when women are involved. The two shows have their differences though - they're similar enough that I'm absolutely sure anyone who enjoys one should watch the other, but not so similar that either feels like a ripoff.

So far, in all the time I have spent dementing myself with Japanese cartoons and comics, Junk Boy is the ONLY title similar to Golden Boy I've come across. The basic gist of Junk Boy is this: an average, horny guy finds himself in a line of work that allows him to interact with/seduce babes. With his ability to get a boner at any time/lift tables with his boner, no woman can resist his idiotic, surprisingly seductive ways for long - not even an idol he once masturbated over being safe from his clutches. Just like Golden Boy, it's sure to piss off women with the way  read more

Both Golden Boy and Prison School rely on sexual jokes not suitable for the general audience. Each girl in both shows has a unique personality and distinctive appearance. Kintaro and the Prison School gang are similar in that they relentlessly pursue these attractive women with hilarious results. Both are initially clueless when dealing with women, but gains experience with every episode. While Kintaro only encounters one abusive woman, the Prison School gang faces an entire academy of them. Prison School's humor is even less tame than Golden Boy's, which itself is already very facetious.

If you just chill and enjoy some pure gold chaotic comedy, it is highly recommended to watch. It will practically explode your lungs and stomach, and break your jaws just from laughing too hard and keeping your sanity from the weirdness to on a whole different level, just check em out!

Golden Boy can be considered as Colorful with a plot and much more variety in humor. Sure, it's still ecchi but there's also a lot more to it than just that.

Both are extremely funny. One is about a delinquent school and the other about a freeter.

Attractive, reliable, good boys, Kintarou and Saeba use to be misestimated by girls, just because guys look like rakes. But time after time main characters appear in all themselves glory. One episode – one mission – one girl.

Do you like following the adventures of a chill protagonist, whose childish behavior hides his true strength and maturity? Do you enjoy comedy anime in general? Both these shows feature a man working in all sorts of occupations and missions. The shows are mostly episodic and each episode comes with it's own set of side characters that the protagonist guy has to assist in some way.

Both animes are filled with perversion of the same level, and filled with Ecchiness, so if you like Ecchi anime, you'll definitely like Golden Boy. Golden Boy is indeed an much older anime, but it's a classic.

While not entirely similar in their stories, they both consist of an individual who travels by way of bike (bicycle and motorcycle) far and wide to see the beauties that the world holds. They both don't stay too long wherever they go. And they both have the same goal: To explore the world and obtain knowledge about it. Kino's Journey is much more focused on these aspects, while in Golden Boy Kintaro gets sidetracked quite a bit with his lustful actions and gets himself into various ecchi situations of comedy gold.

90's OVA comedy gold. The OVA's are episodic in nature but an overarching plot does flow throughout the entirety of the two shows due to the protagonist(s) goals and their attempts to reach them. Both shows initially appear quite lighthearted but darker themes are touched upon, character development is present and the relationships between characters are decently established. Overall, Golden Boy and Kyou kara Ore wa!! are just a whole lot of fun to watch. They feature similar art styles, fewer -though lengthier- episodes (GB: 6, KKOW: 10), and conclude with more of an open ending. If you're looking for something new to watch  read more

Perhaps less than obvious, I kinda see Sakamoto desu ga? almost like a spiritual successor to Golden Boy. While very different with regards to the personalities of their leads, both shows revolve around an unorthodox "perfect" character whose bizarre behavior belies their capabilities, while interactions with them lead the supporting cast to strive to become better people. Sakamoto is cool, Kintaro is anything but, but their roles to the people around them are similar.

Both are good comedies. Eiken is a masterpiece.

the main characters are similar because they are both wandering men who are seemingly naive but aim to help those around them. they also gain beautiful women admirers as they travel

Both are aimed towards sexual comedy, with their main characters being aloof at times.

Everybody knows about the traditional luck of fools. Human with this ability manage to make incredible things without even thinking about it. Tylor and Kintaro are the typical representative of such character. They both don't think much about reasons of their behavior. But people trying to measure them by own yardstick find out that it's impossible to explain what they have on their minds. By all means Tylor and Kintaro have the gift of pleasing which helps them to become friend almost with everybody around them. Both Golden Boy and Captain Tylor are great comedies which except similar main characters have many funny moments including men  read more

They both revolve around a wise male protagonist surrounded by beautiful women. He is distracted by them , and in the end they become fond of him, moslty even fall in love. They are both fun to watch, and if you liked one , you'll like the other.

Both happen to be slice of life anime with a male protagonist, who interacts with females, each having distinct character traits. Take Golden Boy, remove the ecchi, make the male protagonist a more serious person, capable of romance and finally domesticate it into a high school setting - voila! You have the skeletal plot, theme structure for To Heart. If you liked Golden Boy but felt the need for something more serious and possibly genuine direction, go for To Heart. On the other hand, if you liked To Heart and felt that you need something similar that is not constrained by a high school setting and  read more

Both main characters are lecherous (lesser degree in Kakyuusei) but good hearted, honest and hard working. Because of this girls are indifferent to the MC at first but as they get to know him they fall in love.

A perverted man (Kohei is more sauve than the hardworking Kintaro) and the 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 women who are in love with him.

New adventure and new girl basically each episode. Although Jing: king of bandits lacks the ecchi elements of Golden boy. Both are very funny and have an excellent dub.

Older comedies. Both feature maximum ridiculousness.

* Both MCs are traveling after an important life phase, with the same overall goal as that former event - for Frieren is about adventure, for Kintarou is about learning * Both MCs are somewhat socially awkward * Both MCs end up saving the day with their op skill - that is, magic or intellect * Both series are deep and have important life lessons for young people

In both series the protagonist is a young man called Kintarou, with different chinese characters for the „Kin“. One of these works in a corporation, the other one works for another employer in each episode. Apart from that, they have much in common I think. Both Kintarous like to move on two wheels and have a strong sense of individuality. They do not respect rules and ranks out of principle, but follow their ideals. They also have a rather optimistic view of life and people, without ignoring the dark sides. Their adventures follow the same schme: They get an assignment, run into problems, and solve them in  read more

Kintaro from Golden Boy might as well be Yuuji's older brother. The pair of them are MC's, are dirty-minded and want to get the girls they like. Golden Boy focuses on different women on each episode whereas Tonagura only focuses on the MC's childhood friend.

Comedy about growing up life feelings love drama adventures in the mundane and random moments bound. Funny females who are open and act like real people. Similar morals at the end.

VHS-era anime involving young men looking for employment. They are both comedy series that rely heavily on sex-related humour and gags with the protagonist being at the centre of it all.

This is like a reverse Hand-kun, the guy acts like he can't do anything and everyone treats him stupid, but really he a genius, it's only 6 episodes so not too big of a commitment

While I hate to always toss out Golden Boy for a recommendation for series like this, it's hard NOT to, as it is likely the greatest ecchi series ever made. I think the reason why I recommend it in this case though is that both the series make ample use of perverted comedy, but there are also moments in which the series both attempt to stab at something greater than mindless entertainment for perverts. While Golden Boy is significantly more so, I believe both shows had a sense about that that I might suggest: "they've got heart."

These series actually have very different aproaches. Golden Boy is focused on comedy and eechi while ReLIFE is focused on drama and the issues of life. So what they have in common? Well, both are capable to make you reflect about your life and the decisions you made. By putting yourself in the skin of the main characters, you may be able to think about yourself and enjoy your life a bit more. If you don't mind in being from different genres, there is a chance you may like the other series if you like one them because of this aspect.

Both are straighforward echii-comedies with a similar "high energy" tone. Shinchou Yuusha has an overarching story and some action elements whereas golden boy is episodic and more focused on the echii&comedy. Both shows are what I would consider an "easy watch" (i.e. something you watch to relax and be entertained), and of high enough quality not to disappoint.

I make this recommedation only for Episode 6 from Golden Boys "Animation is Fun!" which tell story about kintaro working as production assistant in animation studio (just like aoi from shirobako) This actually "hidden gems" since Golden Boys infamous as ecchi anime If you don't like ecchi content but want to know how animation studio working to make anime, You can skip first 5 episode and just watch episode 6 Because Golden Boy is 6 episodic OVA with 6 different storys which each episode has a different story and don't have any connection between in.

Two stories of young men who have traveled Japan and had chance encounters with love, Bobby on his motorcycle and Kintaro on his bicycle, reflecting the coming of age experience of the 1980's and 1990's respectively.

DNA^2 and Golden Boy both have smart, considerate Playboy main characters! If you like seeing the girls fall for the guys then both shows are quite good! DNA^2 isn't episodic and centers around a set of main heroines while Golden Boy has a different girl each episode. There's also a bit more drama in DNA^2 just a heads up and an ass antagonist that comes in later on.

OVA adaptations of Tatsuya Egawa's manga. Ecchi, comedy, many girls, and a male lead who's dumb, or chad, or both. Tokyo Daigaku Monogatari has drama and romance while Golden Boy is funnier and more perverted.

This recommendation is with specific reference to the 6th/final episode of Golden Boy (Animation is Fun!). If you enjoyed seeing the production process of anime portrayed in anime, then "Animation Runner Kuromi" has a fairly similar theme and plot. Kuromi plays a similar role to Kintaro in the episode, trying to coordinate the work of various staff to race to a production deadline. Different sort of comedy to Golden Boy and not the ecchi, but it in itself is a fun OVA series and expands on the depiction of anime production as given in that particular episode of Golden Boy.

Both shows play strongly on the idea of a wandering prodigy, a student of life. While Master Keaton is a classy show, aimed at an older audience, Golden Boy focuses on the sex comedy angle for the twenty-something crowd.

Golden boy is no sports anime but they have similar art style, comedy, funny faces, etc. Both Epic anime :)

Both are OVA with old style of animation. In both, the main character is young, perverted male with close to no shame ho is helping females and causing them fall for him. While Golden Boy is heavy ecchi, Dragon Knight is hentai. If you liked one, be sure to check the other one.

Two of the funniest anime ever made in my humble opinion. Both contain really absurd, crude humour and memorable quotes.

Similarities: •BS is about a boy who is new to tennis but gradually improves over time. Similarly with GB as the main protagonist has a new job every episode (starts off inexperienced but gets better at it). •Both protagonists are somewhat similar (they are both smart, kind and determined to finish/improve on what they are doing). -They both also like to take notes so they'll know how to improve next time. •Has romance. Differences: •Baby Steps is a longer series (about 50 episodes) while Golden Boy is an OVA (6 episodes). •BS is based on tennis and improving at it while GB is about a guy having multiple  read more

Yeah, there's really not much in common between these two shows but I don't think I've seen anything else like Aku no Hana and since I can't just list recommendations without having comparisons...? Aku no Hana or 'Flower of Evil' iirc is an oddly animated and terrible looking show that deals with real human issues of alienation and mental illness. Golden Boy is a short, comedic skit show about a young man who seems underwhelming at first glance but always exceeds expectations before anyone knows any better.

Both are extremely funny, even though the main characters are completely different from one another. Its got a similar sense of humor. If you liked Beelzebub and its slap-stick comedy you will love Golden Boy, and vice versa.

If you liked the main character always helping all the staff at the school, then this anime is for you. Both ISM and Golden boy have the main character always wanting to help out other people and are always quick in it. They are also liked by many girls.

Both share: perverted main male character, main male character helping those around him, attractive female characters, an abundance of ecchi comedy, and plenty of fan-service. In short, Golden Boy (1995) is an ecchi anime classic that solidified some of the tropes known to the genre, and both are very humorous.
