A dude helps a girl out by making clothes for her.

Both wholesome romcoms about a couple who have different personalities, a popular girl and a shy, reserved boy. They learn about each other's secrets and befriend quickly which will then turn into a romance.

Both male main characters are very shy/awkward when around the female lead. Both female main characters love the male lead's hobby and loves teasing him using sexual appeal both intentional and unintentionally. Both anime is filled with fanservice.

The main difference between these two show comes from the backdrop (Wotakoi is with adults in a workplace while Dress Up Darling is high school) and the catalyst for the relationship. Outside of this these shows are surprisingly similar in tone and overall themes. Both deal with a relationship that starts as a mostly transactional one that in time evolves into a deeper affection. And both work with characters who are basically just weirdos who for the most part embrace who they are. If you have seen Dress Up Darling first then I highly recommend you jump to Wotakoi. both focus on polar opposite type mcs that are seeing each other as well as their antics as well too.

Both Ririsa and Marin have a newly found passion for cosplaying cute girls. They are both highly interested in anime/manga marketed towards men. In both series, the male main character is asked to help in their cosplay adventures. With cosplay and otaku themes at the forefront of both of these shows, the similarities are obvious.

tho Sono Bisque Doll have A LOT of ecchi, we're watching a helpful and foolish male-love-interest slowly realising the obvious feeling he has towards a pretty and popular girl (she's deeply in love and isn't oblivious about it). Oh and both have a good comedy!!!!

About fashion and clothes making with adult themes.

I would've loved to make a recommendation with Honey & Clover, but it isn't quite right, so HAJIMETE NO... IPPO, better written as the accidental encounter with high possibility of romance and whether-to-laugh-or-cry incident(s) afterwards, which I find rather ordinary, yet still potent of surprise if properly executed. Also, chasing after dream(s), and tackling the search of true sel(f/ves), will never run out of demands, especially during this coming of age. Then again, the will to overdub with an affection arms race, as well as THE PLOT, is greatly dependent on the creator(s)' [ball(s)]. You've been warned.

Both involve a socially awkward boy and an outgoing, popular girl who become romantically entwined, breaking social norms commonly associated with high school cliques. These anime are quite similar; however, they differ in the fact that the gender and role in the social hierarchy of the otaku character are swapped.

the main introverted and good-with-needles character meets an energetic extraverted glamorous character and they work together to make some beautiful outfits

cutest and boldest waifu queens + introvert, shy and caring mc

introvert MC meets the extrovert out-going popular gyaru in his school.

Both focus on otaku characters and their aspirations and antics as well too.

My Dress-Up Darling: Guy went from having no friend to have hot gyaru girl friend (not girlfriend yet) in few episode and he will likely ending up with her in the end Saekano: Guy went from being weeb to somehow know 3 waifu material girls and of course all of them seem slightly like him in some way My Dress-Up Darling: Guy helping girl reaching their dream (cosplay) Saekano: Girls helping guy reaching their dream (create dating game) My Dress-Up Darling: Huge load of ecchi fanservice Saekano: Fanservice on episode 0 of each season. Not as much as My Dress-Up Darling but it still there. Overall, both anime are about someone  read more

Both involve an earnest male mc and a gyaru female I find the character dynamic they have in both anime to be very similar both anime are very sweet in similar ways Do note that dress-up darling is better in pretty much every aspect
report Recommended by Merulox
Popular girl with unpopular guy, both animes focus on "chasing" phase rather than "dating". However, while Love is War focuces on mind games between characters, My Dress-up Darling is rather chill and way more wholesome - only character dynamic and the way romance is executed is similar in these animes.

Both are wholesome anime, where the shy main character starts a Romance with the outgoing popular girl in school.

Both shows focus on high-school students with passions for art while exploring the process and creation of said art, as well as the relationships between characters.

if you like anime which balance the line between horny and wholesome these shows fit the bill. Although Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu shows her age a bit, it still definitely worth a watch, especially if you enjoyed the more "anime knowledge" parts of My dress-up darling.

Spiritual Successor to My Dress Up Darling. Desumi and Marin are both blonde girly girls who are into wearing skimpy costumes and blushing a lot when spending time with the boy they like. And Fudou is basically Gojou with a Red Ranger/Gym bro re skin.

In depth on the inner makings of Anime for Eizouken. Similar with cosplay/costume-design for Dress-Up Darling. Both explore the makings and day-to-day of their respective hobbies. Both give a digestible exploration of each medium for anyone open/curious to either. Also, similarities between main characters Midori/(Eizouken) and Gojo/(Dress-Up), both being non-social, kind of hiding from the world because of their extreme interest in their respective hobbies, but because of that makes them very exemplary in their craft.

The main similar part of both animes is that the female mc coincidentally spotted the male mc doing something they didn't wanted others to see. Both in Chuunibyou and My Dress-up Darling the girl is the first one to reach out to the mc and begin the story of two boys and girls who are total opposites of each other falling in love.In superior prospect, Chuunibyou had great animation and direction as a 2012 anime but My Dress-up Darling also isn't losing in terms of the quality it features. Both of them are pretty enjoyable to watch and really good Romance animes.
report Recommended by MDS924
Both of these animes feature Otaku romances, however, Omoi is a movie with multiple couples with more of a focus on drama while My Dress-Up Darling is more ecchi and comedy focused.

I wanted to write about their mangas but I didn't read Bocchan's manga so I'll write on their animes. Focus on romcom part of these two series. The story about Shinigamis and mage part is not similar. They are both has heart heateing romantism I think and both of girls are similar. (Maybe Alice is little bit pervert but it doesn't change boys are not dominate the relitionship between boy and girl.)
report Recommended by SeroShiii
The similar part of both the animes is that the mc works and finds a love interest because of their works. In My Dress-up Darling the mc helps out at his grandpa's shop where he makes Hina dolls and thus ends up making cosplay clothes for a girl in his class who finds out about his hobby. But in Working!! the mc works part time at a restaurant and has to handle many problems as one girl is overly fearful of men and always ends up punching them.In romance prospect, Working!! might not have much similarity to My Dress-up Darling but Working!! is mainly a comedy anime  read more

Both have very likeable female characters, with a likeable male lead. The interactions between the male lead and girl/girls are also similarly adorable and satisfying

Wholesome shows of two friends who bring out the best in each other and slowly realize they have mutual feelings for each other. Realistic depictions of how people talk and bond with each other. Brings a smile of my face every episode.

It's about people who like to cosplay.

If you enjoy a uniquely Japanese romance style, with a couple who seemingly like each other but take a long time to get together, or may not even end up together, two great options are Masamune-kun no Revenge and Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru. In these anime, you'll encounter this distinctive romance approach, where the journey of the characters is as important as the eventual outcome. Prepare yourself for a delightful exploration of the complexities and nuances of relationships in these series.

Both male main characters are very isolated. Both female main characters lead the male character to know more about the world and develop their feelings. Both anime is filled with fanservice.
report Recommended by dagertoe
Both shows feature strong, sexy, unique female leads that are memorable and engaging. Basically, if you're a fan of Marin Kitagawa, you would also be a fan of Zero Two.

High school setting of a loner and an outgoing person becoming friends and then love interests. Both give off refreshing vibes

High school students figuring out what they like and why do they like it. Students with different characteristics working together on the same projects. Students figuring out how to make friends and how to communicate their thoughts and feelings. Nice art style and a focus on a form of traditional Japanese art.
report Recommended by Lopika
Both focus on a reclusive mc and also a perky fashionable friend working together and the mc opening his horizons the moment he meets her as well as learning to see the wonders of life as well.
report Recommended by Disapeared_Ghost
A light romance with tons of fanservice about a bland self-insert protagonist who works together with a girl with a strangely sexual hobby.
report Recommended by Zytoep
Both follow two people, a guy and a girl who become entangled through either cosplay or in Hyouka's case a detective club, and it follows the path of these two characters as they become more fond of each other and go through their lives.
report Recommended by Lufs
Both are romances where the main character has a connection with sewing and textiles and will make a garment for someone they likes
report Recommended by Five
Art is beautiful to fight social anxiety, MC are quite related to stay in their own world, well writed, anime studio did good too.
report Recommended by Ausserwelt
Artistic guy focused on traditional arts finds beauty and inspiration after breaking out of his bubble. SoL anime that will make you feel happy no matter how your day went

Could not have a more enjoyable "gyaru" show. Fun gyaru gals paired up with strange dudes who are still cool in their own right, getting down with life and just having a bit of fun with each other. The term "fun" here is a bit light-hearted and sweet in Sono Bisque Doll, with Marin and Goto having the best time in school as cosplayer and cosplayer styler duo. The term "fun" in Gal&Dino is a little more extreme and zany, with Kaede and Dino doing basic life stuff together, messing around and whatnot, with some sweet 3D nonsense at the end of each half-episode. Both are great  read more
