Mysterious shops with inscrutable owners, whose customers receive only the merchandise they "deserve".

same author, hints to shounen ai, tragedies etc. If you liked give legal drug a try

Both deal w/ a woman who solves problems...With an otherworldy twist!
reportRecommended by Rhythm-Wily
If you're reading xxxHOLiC or Tsubasa but not the other series then you are missing out on part of the story. They are connected so you have to buy not just one series, but two! As they are both created by CLAMP they have a very similar style. xxxHOLiC is more focused on the supernatural stort stories which prop up main character development while Tsubasa is more character driven as the journeies they go through support them.
reportRecommended by SY_IS_DEAD_IRL
Both male protagonists help in a shop and deal with supernatural beings.
reportRecommended by xxxholic_wing
Both series look at Japanese folklore in an unusual and unique way, with an amiable but mysterious practitioner of a strange trade giving aid to those afflicted by forces they can't see or understand. In both series lessons are sometimes learned, and not all stories end happily.
reportRecommended by lithiumflower
Both male leads possess the ability to see the supernatural. Ga-Rei contains more action while xxxHolic is creepier and is about the main character getting pulled into supernatural matters.
reportRecommended by DarkRabbitReaper
Both manga have mysticism and otherworldly aspects to them.
reportRecommended by buunny
Very similar vibes. Both lean heavily into Japanese folklore with supernatural exchanges. Both have a young man, 'wander in,' and get tangled in the overall mystery of the establishment owner. They're fairly episodic with "be careful what you wish for" vibes in each mystery. Bakemono Yawa-zukushi feels a bit darker in tone overall, but if you enjoyed xxxHolic you'll probably dig it.
reportRecommended by Otawan
Nightmare Inspector: Yumekui Kenbun and xxxHOLiC are both very similar in characters and plotline. In Nightmare Inspector: Yumekui Kenbun there is a boku who runs a cafe and also helps people get rid of their nightmares. xxxHOLiC is similar because there is a witch who runs a shop and helps people with there everyday supernatural problems. The mini stories in both are also very similar, both have supernatural undertones and surprising twists and turns. I recomend both!
reportRecommended by Wingedwolf
Both involve a mysterious shop owned by a female shop keeper. The shop sells things that it's customers requires at a steep price...
reportRecommended by Foraii
Both Shokora and Yuuko own a shop that can grand wishes. In both series the price that has to be paid for their services will affect the customers life greatly.
reportRecommended by Rorschach11
The same creators, and the storyline is similar. in both manga there are ghosts and spirint involed.
reportRecommended by Nagatsuki
The art, the character design, the character personalities..Zion and Yuko are undoubtly similiar..Beautiful powerful women with mystical abilities. Both feature intricate artwork and combine the spiritual and supernatural ideas into their plots. Exorcism, fate, spirits, you name it.
reportRecommended by Crystal_Assassin
both have supernatural shit and the mysteries surounding it and also a strong goth feel to it and also nice art and character designs too.
reportRecommended by Disapeared_Ghost
Same author, supernatural and the main characters of both (Watanuki and Chikahito) are very similar. The comedy is also good.
reportRecommended by neriike
Both series feature lead characters who can see spirits, who really don't want to see spirits, and don't know why they have this ability. Both have comedy, especially toward the beginning, but as the overarching plot is revealed, it gets darker. Mieruko-chan is a little ecchier, and xxxHOLiC has a greater ratio of "good" spirits to "bad".
reportRecommended by MorgantheFae
The supernatural world is just next door in these two beautiful fantasy manga. If you like one, you'll surely like the other, though Ran to Haiiro no Sekai is the superior in terms of a comprehensible plot and emotional impact.
reportRecommended by noirgrimoir
Similar premises with spirituality, ghosts, curses, the ability to see them and dispell ghosts, demons and curses. Holic is of course much more developed in both characters and plot but if you are in the mood for that type of story Ame no Murakumono is short and reads quickly.
reportRecommended by inzaratha
The protagonist have the ability to see evil spirits and finds a person/being who helps him/her to overcome this spirits and begin to make friends.
reportRecommended by BlindNoldor
Both manga have beautiful, immortal characters in them.
reportRecommended by buunny
Both high school boys are in the supernatural and have to have one following another. The main character is annoyed by the other, wanting to "get rid of them" and yelling at them to "go away". Finally, both main male characters love to be praised and have a crush on the pretties and the nicest girl in school.
reportRecommended by dedfbbugw
although xxxholic has a darker tone than Rinne, both deal with a main character who goes through everyday life seeing ghosts and spirits, and get to know someone whose profession is dealing with these spirits. They both also have the episodic style of story, while a greater story develops simultaneously. I think anyone who enjoys shonen sunday comics as well as the spiritual element in xxholic will enjoy Rinne, and anyone who wants to see a story similar to Rinne but with a more serious take will enjoy xxxholic.
reportRecommended by ShyGeisha
Different mediums (Tsukumodo Antique Shop being a light novel, xxxHolic being a manga) but both are stories surrounding mysterious shops that deal with unorthodox elements, one being about mysterious objects and the other dealing more directly with mysterious spirits.
reportRecommended by animejas
xxxHOLiC and Urusei Yatsura both borrow heavily from Japanese mythology to create colorful casts of characters. These two stories are alike in their humor and energy, filled to the brim with gags, love, and genuine humanity. Tonally, Urusei Yatsura feels like the younger sibling of xxxHolic: where the latter is often eery and sophisticated, the former is spooky and brash; but you'll love them both just the same.
reportRecommended by teraphIl1000
In some ways, Yo-Kai Watch is kind of like a kiddie version of xxxHOLiC; the main character is a boy who has the ability to see youkai and/or the supernatural all around him in some way, and many chapters has him trying to solve problems related to them, further strengthening bonds between humanity and the supernatural. There's a bit of silliness with some of the dramatic moments here and there too, though the former series is more focused on comedy and the latter is very stylish and can be rather morbid at times.
reportRecommended by Fario-P
Main characters are able to see spirits that simple people don't. These mangas share spiritual and cultural symbolisms. They also have an aesthetic and amazing art in common.
reportRecommended by KitsuFrost
Both involves the MC who is an ordinary human who can see the supernatural elements and ends up working for a person who helps the supernatural
reportRecommended by FuriousMovies23
We have one main character that is accustomed to youkai and the supernatural and one main character that is a total spaz. This manga is more comedy and less dark than xxxHolic. Absolutely loved it, though it is a bit tricky to find.
reportRecommended by mysticbynd
Similar mood in terms of solving mysteries of the people of xxxHolic's world, and the clients that drop by the Inn of Lost Things.
reportRecommended by Muwi
1. Both are created by CLAMP so the artwork is pretty similar 2. Both stories have a misterious and delicate air (like a ukyo-e world)
reportRecommended by turquoise_neko
Although the stories itself are not similar, I find that the message of Tsurebito is similar to some of the messages in xxxHolic: the value of life, the grief of death, and the importance of the emotional connection between people.
reportRecommended by kyahaku
Both stories involve a young male in high school who has the ability to see things that others cannot see. Then, they meet with an extremely powerful being, and through the adventures that they experienced, they change their perspectives and build meaningful relationships with others. The difference is that Natsume Yuujinchou has a more gentle and warm feeling, while xxxHolic is more thrilling and mysterious.
reportRecommended by kyahaku
The main character in both stories work as someone's assistant to pay off debt. In Hanako to Guuwa no Tera, the main group work to solve supernatural cases. In xxxHolic, the main group grants wishes in exchange for something of equal value. Obviously, both stories rely heavily on supernatural creatures, but Hanako relies on Japanese lore specifically, while xxxHolic has different kind of creatures. xxxHolic is much longer, but it also has a decent anime adaptation.
reportRecommended by Ocean_Tide
They are both made by the same author and have a similar feeling. They both have supernatural elements and take place in the same universe and have great stories. They're mysterious and interesting, though quite different.
reportRecommended by JungTaco
It's weird enough to make such recommendation but the art style this one shot has reminds me a lot of CLAMP's artwork, and mainly of xxxHOlic because they're made for the same demographics... Even lead love interest reminds me of Clow Reed... Give the one shot a chance ;-)
reportRecommended by rebwaters
Both plots are based on supernatural worlds emphasising on bonds, fate, and the strive for change. Watanuki and Chiaki are very similar. Both have overcome domestic hardships, are gifted/cursed with powers, and wear their heart on their sleeve.
reportRecommended by Merciless27
If you take Watanuki and give him a sense of dark humor then give him a superpower accompanied by animals and other people, then you have Hoshi no Samadare. However, do not expect a complex plot or intriguing events since HnS is nothing more than a predictable manga series that flops after two fantastic, funny volumes.
reportRecommended by arimakenshin
Well..both involve supernatural stuff and demons..but still they are really different stories. What they have in common is the "feeling", both stories make you wonder the meaning of reality and dreams (or fantasy);what are the boundaries of what is real and what is not? This is where you find the real similarity, they make you think a lot and sometimes they give you a hard time to understand what's going on. So if you want something to "think about" this one is a very good option too.
reportRecommended by Queen2408
I'm not certain on how they're similar, but I get the same feel when I read xxxHolic and Venus Versus Virus. They both have seemingly dark plots and main characters with strange powers/visions. The style also is somewhat similar.
reportRecommended by Torchic23
Both have similar atmosphere and supernatural themes, where a long-haired insouciant cool-beauty proprietress of a certain shop deals with mysterious unusual goods/services for their customers. Rurimiya Mugen Kobutsuten takes a darker, more tragic tone, showcasing more realistic human's flaws over the more idealistic xxxHolic. Set in an antique store that sells old used objects that have gained magical properties that are more than capable of causing harm (which they do more often than they don't). While in xxxHolic, it's more light-hearted, and deals with more supernatural elements like spirits and ghosts. Yuuko runs a shop that fulfills wishes, at a "price".
reportRecommended by Estoy_Gordo
If you enjoyed Yume Kira Dream Shoppe, you'll proabably like xxxHOLiC. Both stories are about people's wishes being granted in exchange for a price. xxxHOLiC goes to the more "darker" side of things. Yuuko, the main character of xxxHOLiC, will only grant the wish that a person makes. She doesn't guarantee any happy endings, like Rin does in Yume Kira. Yume Kira is also more focused on romance, while xxxHOLiC has a little of everything. xxxHOLiC is a longer series, so it's characters develop more and the plots have more details than Yume Kira. It's also not just a wish-of-the-week type of manga.

the same author, so the same kind of humor etc good characters and plot

See spirits? Check. Associated with the spirit world? Check.

Ghost Only has the same plot as xxxHoLic. In "Ghost Only", Ema can see ghosts and, because of her "gift", ends up working part-time in a mysterious restaurant, where ghosts go to dine. The store owner, Ren, acts like a ghost but is in fact human, thus renderring the plot more interresting. Both series are of the supernatural and comedy genre. Also, both series have the same "monster/ghost-of-the-day" feel to it. Ema & Watanuki are similar because of their gift, and the way the perceive it, while Ren & Yuuko are similar because of their personalities and the role that they play in the story. If  read more
reportRecommended by sakumi-chan
Similar plots between the two. Both of the main characters are high school students being tailed by spirits, thus compelling them to seek help from a strange higher source. Watanuki becomes obligated to work with Yuuko in order for his wish to be rid of the tailing spirits be fulfilled. The theme also mirrors the plot relationship between Hayato and the Undertaker. Both Yuuko and Riddle are eccentric characters who emit an aura of mystery and wisdom into the pages. Xxxholic is, however, much more complex than Undertaker Riddle.
reportRecommended by SilentMuse
Both have magician/witch who makes wishes come true and a human who serves them. But I Wish has more romance and more shoujo.
reportRecommended by cyborg__
Although they are completely different, Both manga are about the principle of fair trade ( alchemy for FMA and wishes for xxxHolic ) and both consider rising the death as taboo.
reportRecommended by iyela
Both series are about a witch/sorcerer and their apprentice/mentee. Both are a mix of dark stories, original concepts of magic and specific kind of humor.
reportRecommended by teaknight
Both main charactes can see supernatural beings and relates to Japanese folklores.
reportRecommended by xxbluebirdxx
Both deal with a shop owner who grants wishes. (Otherwise they're really different.)
reportRecommended by IceAndCream
They are both about people who can see spirits and about how this ability changed their lives.
reportRecommended by JungTaco
xxxHOLiC and Sousoukyoku Nightmare are quite similar. They both have a shop that doesn't fit into the surounding area and disappear after they have finished there buisness. Both Baku and Yuuko ask unreasonable tasks of their employees, they also seem to know much more than normal. They both sell things for things in exchange ("soul" in xxxHOLiC and Nightmares in SN). BOth are quite entertaining so if you like one the other will be quite wnjoyable also.
reportRecommended by crimsonpheonix
Innocent person plagued by bad luck -> runs into a more experienced "magic" user, "Help me at my shop and I'll help you with your problems." +Both contain rather unnerving horror elements
reportRecommended by SoneAnna
*Seemingly* ordinary guy + supernaturally-based girl (both named Yuuko, coincidentally) -> she drags him on escapades. Often against his will. Though there's some awfully fishy circumstances surrounding the girl and her life. +More unnerving horror elements galore~
reportRecommended by SoneAnna
They are both mangas by CLAMP. They are both excellent reads that allow you to think a bit. X focuses more on action and drama, whereas xxxHOLiC progresses with more psychological.
reportRecommended by Bluesander
Both have a person with magical abilities who charge people for their services.
