It was pretty charming, my friend finished it and didn't like the ending much but said that overall it was good. I don't know much about Kamen Rider but the atmosphere/style of this show seemed like it would be similar to that. I was kind of into Sailor Moon as a kid but I honestly hardly remember a thing about it. Are you into the franchise at all?
Haha for a second I thought something went wrong when the N+C splash screen came up. And Clear's isn't interesting in terms of presentation but more in terms of the choices it offers. In what way has the genre come a long way since then? (Do you mean BL adaptations?) I watched a little of the TNC adaptation and while I haven't played the original game I can see where the problems were.
It's by parade, I believe they're a new company?
By days do you mean actual days? That's a bit long to have your computer on. (though ordinarily it shouldn't be an issue) (Speaking of which got a call from Geek Squad today and...they just won't return my laptop. Said it's not repairable and just won't return it >:( )I'm excited for the anime! Especially since Ufotable's working on it. And yeah I heard the H scenes are laughably bad.
Actually so far the sushi one isn't bad. Not unique (in any way besides the premise) or particularly compelling, but not really bad. English translation gets pretty exaggerated at times. (The heroine suddenly SPEAKS LIKE THIS A LOT??!?@?) What did you dislike about it? I'm on the Minato Yusuke route in Sweet Scandal right now, it's probably my favorite of the ones I'm currently playing. (Arabian Night(s) Love Story is getting more interesting though). Oh man tsunderes. On one hand I find them cliche and tiresome but on the other hand I end up finding certain tsundere characters endearing... (I-It's not like I kinda like tsunderes or anything!) (Goodness I just said that.) I'll check out the other ones you recommended! :)
Ahhh yes $$->nice visuals @_@. I'm sort of a sucker for pretty things. I've been spoiling myself with HQ anime and movies. Wondering if I should invest in a blu-ray player and buy things in blu-ray when I can since they are often bundled that way anyway. I don't own much anime though. Maybe when I'm solidly employed and independent TT_TT.
It'd be fun to work on some kind of fan game or VN, but as of now I don't have the time or talent really. But yeah it's really heartwarming when something's made not for profit and just because the people involved want to create something...
So kinda off topic (I was thinking about doujinsoft(s) and then indie games and then...) but can you think of any visual novels that are designed unconventionally or have unique mechanics/gameplay?
Haha "dumb Sumerian frat boys" that's wonderful. Oh whoops I guess I was wrong about Enkidu's gender. Do you enjoy a lot of classical writings (epics, plays, legends, etc.) and stuff like that? (Odyssey, Aeneid, etc etc sorry I can't think of many more off the top of my head ^^)
I think to me Clear's was the most interesting in terms of gameplay (can't say much because spoilers @_@) while Noiz's was the most surprising, the Scrap scene was really cool. (so many people thought their game broke haha) Was sort of dubious about the anime adaptation but the second PV looks quite nice. And yeah the parasite idea is...not fun. I wonder if Urobuchi finds meat monsters particularly terrifying or something. Poor Youji... While we're on the topic of BL games have you heard of No Thank You?
I didn't actually get through any routes in FSN, found a translation somewhere with screenshots and was reading off that. I got partway through what was likely the common route. I'm always debating whether I should just go with the text-hooking software for untranslated games but the translations look kinda awkward. Better than nothing I suppose. And have no shame about not playing for the plot sometimes :)
I can imagine why :) My friend recently got into mobile otome games and she started playing one where you can date sushi (sushi that turns into boys). I downloaded a few and I can definitely see some of the tropes I expected. But they're still pretty fun in their own way. (I started Arabian Nights Love Story, The Cinderella Contract, Sweet Scandal, and Love Academy. I know it sounds like a lot but playtime is limited per day and I'm not crazy about the whole microtransactions for playtime thing so...)
Kara no Kyoukai looks really gorgeous, heard the story's great too so I'll have to look into that. I've heard similar opinions about the Shiro/Saber thing. I couldn't even tell Fate/Knight Rhapsody was a doujin work at first! The art looks really nice. I downloaded it right before we sent my laptop for repairs :D And the Fate/strange fake pdf has been sitting around in my laptop for a while, maybe now would be the time to read it since I can view pdfs on my phone. Speaking of Enkidu I was really shocked at first that Gil was blond and Enkidu was so pretty. I had to read the Epic of Gilgamesh in my freshman year of high school and my mental image of them as muscular hairy men still remains haha (though I'm not sure if Enkidu's gender is ever specified in the original Epic)
Aww thank you :3 wow I rambled quite a bit ^^'
I got Clear's first. I think Clear and Noiz were probably my favorite routes. And yeah I haven't gotten too far in sweet pool but that's totally understandable. Have you played Saya no Uta by any chance? I haven't played many VNs but that was my second one and I guess sweet pool doesn't seem so bad after that @_@ though I'm not usually that bothered by gore as it is.
Thanks for all the recs, I'll have to check out those games! (Once my laptop is finished being repaired that is) So far I've only played Katawa Shoujo/Saya no Uta/DMMD/parts of Fate/Stay Night and sweet pool. Some having English patches is definitely a plus. Do you know Japanese or do you use text-hooking software for untranslated ones?
Haven't played any otome games so far. Well, actually I did sit through a livestream of a few drunk guys playing through Hatoful Boyfriend which was...pretty funny.
I've been wanting to get more into the Fate universe ever since finishing Fate/Zero, there's a ton of other Fate stuff. The FSN VN seems really long so I think I'll play Fate/Knight Rhapsody next :D yay backstory! I recently got a friend into Fate/Zero so I'll recommend it to her too :)
No problem, I do it too :) enthusiasm is always nice for discussion!
The only BL VN I've finished is DMMD (finished last year and I still haven't played r:c) , in the middle of sweet pool at the moment. And yeah you're right they do seem to be amazingly terrible sometimes...but that's okay :D Do you have any favorites? Or any favorite VNs in general?
Also, thumbs up for the bl vns...
