Kyoukai no Rinne

although xxxholic has a darker tone than Rinne, both deal with a main character who goes through everyday life seeing ghosts and spirits, and get to know someone whose profession is dealing with these spirits. They both also have the episodic style of story, while a greater story develops simultaneously.
I think anyone who enjoys shonen sunday comics as well as the spiritual element in xxholic will enjoy Rinne, and anyone who wants to see a story similar to Rinne but with a more serious take will enjoy xxxholic.
