Both Utawarerumono and Oda Nobuna no Yabou place a male protagonist in a strange world based on a historical setting rife with war, diplomacy, and romance. The lives of the protagonists of either series prior to their arrival in this new world are explored very little if at all. They take an active and often leadership role in their new surroundings. Both stories are focused on their adventures in these new places and their interactions and relationships with the individuals they find there. They also make use of their knowledge of modern science and techniques to improve the lives of those close to them and strive for similar goals involving peace where war is the norm. read more 

"Utawarerumono" is one of the many other works of Japanese fantasy to have been inspired by the "Guin Saga". The similarities are obvious ^^ 

Rebellion and the over throwing of a oppressive regime is a key plot line in both Code Geass and Utawarerumono.

Start as a small group and rapidly expand in the fantasy setting, it becomes very political in the setting as territory's change hands. There is a large cast of characters with a few dying off as the story progresses, which it does very fast.  

Both of the Main Characters are engaged to make a difference in the world. They are also similar when it comes to strategy forming and attracting people to their cause. 

Both begin in the same atmosphere, the fantasy-medieval world, and head toward a bit sci-fi as the series progresses. The art is somewhat similar and the fights between the characters are also very well drawn. Even though Utawarerumono is packed with girls (a bit of a harem there), it clearly shares the same genre as Scrapped Princess. Fantasy, magic, action and awesome battles, you'll find all in both Utawarerumono and Scrapped Princess. 

Fuedal era-like settings. Great storyline that draws you in and awesome characters. Story is so in-depth, that you think your farther along in the series than you actually are. 

Both are heartwarming shows with supernatural elements that take place in a sort of medieval/feudal setting. The difference is that Utawarerumono has a lot of action, while Spice and Wolf is more about economics. 

both take around the same era both are enjoyable ^-^ 

Although set in different times, both are action packed and have very similar "monster" design (sorry don't know how to put it any other way) 

How the main cast of Chou Yoyuu starts from a village and gets involved in world affairs involving among others fighting is very similar to Utawarerumono's first half.

Both anime series have settings in a similar time era as the Sengoku Period with the humans bearing animal and yokai features especially in Utawarerumono. They also have battle themes with dramatic music scores and fantastic storylines which will fascinate everyone. Utawarerumono's themes lean towards war with well-written characters, romantic conflicts and the main protagonist becoming a leader of an army to liberate every land from corrupt warlords while unexpectedly gathering a harem while Inuyasha's themes, on the other hand, are focused on the main titular protagonist journeying with friends he makes along the way to collect important items and defeat the main antagonist, a Youkai of the anime series while having to go through a complicated romantic relationship with a woman who accompanies him. read more 

As I was watching these, I got the same impression out of both of them; that action and fantasy feeling which drives me crazy. Though the characters may be different, I still loved each and everyone of them. The characters aren't the same, but both characters, in this case Tianming and Hakuowlo, have companions following them through thick and thin. Tianming's and Hakuowlo's companions follow them through the war that's beginning to occur, and other events I shall not spoil for you. Watch Utawarerumono/The Legend of Qin, I promise you that you'll love both of them.  

Takes place in a distant land. Wars between other countries. Politics and magic. Swords, bow and arrows etc Main character and his female warriors Main character is the leader of his town and will fight to protect it.  

An adventure anime with fantasy, action and kemonos And a little bit of romance, that its not de focus, for those who like 

Both are fantasy romance adventure series that involve an epic war, and I can't help but believe that Utawarerumono took some inspiration from Lodoss. Both are very good and if you like one you will probably enjoy the other. Keep in mind that Lodoss is a little older, though. =) 

Some of the scenes in Utawarerumono give a very similar feel to the scenes in Mushishi. The beauty of nature, the connection man has to nature, etc. The series has an overall feeling of mystery in its setting that is similar to Mushishi. 

Both deal with main characters leading armys. Utawarerumono's main character is a leader who gains power over time and becomes a king. As for Kingdom Xin grows as a character climbing the ranks to becoming a general. 

Both are in similar fantasy worlds raging with wars. The main charactors are quite similar with hidden powers. The endings have the same emotional effect, which leaves you sad yet happy. 

They both have a very similar setting and use war as a major plot point. And while Utawarerumono is somewhat of a harem, Yona is somewhat of a reverse harem. 

Both series share a similar premise. A man finds himself in an unfamiliar world and through certain events, becomes the leader of a group/nation using his past knowledge to his advantage. The harem factor is there along with plenty of action scenes (though Utawarerumono reuses a number of scenes and the animation is somewhat outdated) as well as political intrigue between warring factions being thrown into the mix. Overall, if you're enjoying Overlord so far, Utawarerumono might be a worthwhile watch. 

Both are stories filled with unique species, (Angels, Beast-Girls, etc.) and they take place in the future. They both have a strong war focus; though Gate uses modern weaponry when Utawarerumono uses more medieval warfare. The main character is followed by a group of women of are interested in him romantically. But it is apparent he is interested in one specific of the group. There is at least one large beast and a main enemy force; and magic is present in both series. Both series seem to take a dark path as well. If you enjoy one, you will definitely enjoy the other!  

Hero and conqueror ,the very survival of the people who have chosen him as their leader. Government slaughters the innocent, and a bloody war looms on the horizon. Will the hero liberate the people.  

Both shows are distributed for adult audiences and have mostly female characters who are depicted as Bishoujo women or young Moe girls who can fight, their very great storytelling, world-building, and character developments are reflected in the main characters and both depict action violence which Utawarerumono exaggerates it more than Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha and while Utawarerumono's story focuses on war, Nanoha focuses on Magical Girls challenging antagonists to fight for both their worlds. 

There is a few things these two animes have in common, first its the mind blowing aspect, especially towards the end, where the anime just changes and theres so much mind blowing unravelling, it makes the anime really nice and interesting. Essentially, besides the common story and conflict, there is actually a more interesting and deeper story, usually caused in the past, prior to the events of the anime. The second thing in common is something related to the genre, but ill let you guys figure that out. Besides these, there is good plot development for both, good fighting scenes and interesting characters. If you like anime that isn't mainstream, but is very good, at least in my opinion, then Gargantia/Utawarerumono is a good choice. You will be mind blown when you finish these animes. read more 

The main similarities between these anime is the time period, the whole "building an empire", and the main characters are both op as all hell. Just a heads up, in Reikenzan, the MC doesnt start building an empire til season 2 

Both are based on visual novels (or eroges). If you like harem styled series with a solid story, bit of romance and lot of fights and action, definitely go for both of them! 

The particular manner in which both strive for elegance struck me as very similar for some reason. The sense of mysticism (like with animals) is a bit similar as well. 

Well, If I tell why they're similar, I'd be spoiling the whole story but it basicly the same kind of science fiction. Both stories are about the future life of humans (I can't say anymore unless I spoil the storys. Sorry.) 

This 2 animes kinda remember me of each other even they're really different but bote have allot of action and charackters are very simulair in a way. Very nice 2 watch bote. 

If you really like the fantasy/magic & fight elements of Utawarerumono --while the two aren't THAT similar as some other series--- I highly recommend giving Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu a try. Both have a similar theme of "characters banding together for a certain cause" yet both have a strange "dark secret under the main plot"  

First of all, some of the character design are quite similar and both have a similar concept in an powerful dormant force residing within the main character(s). Both are also more action based as well and being set in an outside realm. Although Utawarerumono overall, in my opinion, is better structured than Izumo, if you had a good time watching Utawarerumono, I think you will have a decent time watching Izumo. 

Has similar war and rebellion stories with characters trying help others. They both also have a fantasy aspect to them that doesn't really reveal itself completely till the last arc in both shows. 

both are in similar fantasy worlds raging with wars. The characters are not alike but i think that if u liked escaflowne specially the world of it u may like untawarerumono and even if the robots in this last one are not as cool as in escaflowne the wars and the kings are very cool in their on way. 

Both feature a person (or slime) of seemingly dubious origins, yet somehow being able to unite a multi-racial force in order to start a nation. Much of the plot focus on both the formation of the new countries and the trials that the new nations face. 

Male Main character adds powerful allies to his team and goes on adventures taking on vicious villains. Utawarerumono is more war oriented with far more drama and romance, but both are similar in fighting style and fantasy setting. Both are also based on a video game.  

Both are they set in a historical era, with lots of wars and fights for freedom. The main characters are leaders/great warriors, but in Sengoku Basara they're more centered on the personal fighting than in Utawarerumono. They give off the same feeling and they can both be a bit boring sometimes, but if you liked one of them you'll most likely like the other one. 

Both have similar themes and kinda had the same feel while watching them. Both are set it a fantasy and kind of feudal world where wars are being waged. Both have the main group of people being lead by the newcomer to the world/village. They have the serious battles but still have comedy thrown in there. Kyou Kara Maou isn't much of a harem though and has a bit of shounen ai in it.  

Both deal with Wars and have kind of Anthro characters of different species. Big difference is Dog Days is light hearted and Utawarerumono deals with a lot of death and violence. Both have a strong cast of characters though and a good protaganist. 

Both have lots of characters with intricate personalities and you see how all the characters relate to each other, complicated stories, action and swords, as well as fantasy and romance elements. And both are completely awesome. 

The building of a good kingdom and the administration of it is the main concept in both anime. 

In both of the series there is a lot of fighting, the storyline is wellfully thought out and the drawing is beautiful. Utawarerumono is a series which can't really be compared to another serie, but in my eyes it is really a MUST SEE
